Always looking for local, we found McKinney's Pub on 3rd West in downtown Grand Island…read more Looking like most of the smaller Irish pubs I've been in, in the Midwest, theirs an immediate comfort as soon as you walk into the door. Green walls, dark wood and brass foot rails. I, of course, started off with a Guinness, which was perfectly poured and my wife a Diet Coke. The staff is relaxed and friendly, giving us plenty of time to look over a fairly extensive menu. My wife decided on the Buffalo Chicken wrap, and I went all in on the Peanut butter burger. My wife really liked her wrap, lots of contrasting goodies to complement the chicken with had some bite but wasn't too spicy. If you're going to tray a peanut butter burger, you need to like peanut butter- it gives the burger a different taste. Served with a mandarin chutney on a tasty bun, I found myself liking it more and more as I enjoyed it. We were offered desserts, but declined as we were absolutely stuffed. Oh, how could I forget to mention the curled chip!!!!nothing short of awesome! Think of a curly cue fry combined with a steak fry. Really, really great!

Typical kids menu foods done well. Salads were nice. Bread rolls with cinnamon butter a real treat. So much to choose from... I had the shepherd's pie with champ on top... Best I've had in awhile. Really hot and took a while to finish. I tried the fun curled chips and they were lightly seasoned... My wife would have preferred them a little crisper but they were perfect for me and they had malt vinegar on the table... Delicious. The decor was perfect and bathrooms clean. I'd come back here in a flash. The staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Was a great place to have lunch while visiting the town. A place I imagine they get a lot of repeat…read moreand local customers. The waitress was friendly and prompt to come and get our drink order and to get it brought to us. Then our order was not long after that. A table of 4 and we received our appetizer quick enough and had time ro enjoy it before our order came. We all made sure to get something different so as to try as much of the menu we could. Burger, fries, cauliflower, chicken fried steak sandwich, pork tenderloin sandwich, onion rings, glue fries, drinks and im sure im missing something. Everyone left feeling very satisfied, and loving our choices and what we ate. The place is smaller and I can see once its a packed house it is probably noisy but its to be expected. After all it is a tavern. I will be recommending the place as much as I can and will visit again when I am in town.

Ben (in the hat) and Madison were incredibly welcoming, personable and genuinely made the experience memorable. Their energy and friendliness turned a casual visit into a highlight of my trip. I'll absolutely be back, especially if one of them is behind the bar! Heads up, if you use the men's restroom, take a couple of napkins with you as they have one of those recirculating dirty cloth towels to dry your hands

I stopped by here this past Saturday with my wife for some afternoon drinks. We arrived to Prairie…read morePride Brewing just as it was opening and were the only customers inside for a bit. Due that we were able to talk a bit to the bartender who was quite a nice fellow. This taproom consists of a small bar along with a bunch of tables behind it. They had a popcorn machine in the corner which the bartender turned on and then there were two TV's with the Vikings preseason game on them. Finally you could see through some glass behind the bar to where some of the brewing equipment was which is always nice in a microbrewery. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Prairie Pride Brewing that means that I got to choose 6 different tasters for $9. So I decided to go with the Good Country Wheat (BlackBerry/Lemon), Barn Burn (Amber Ale), Islander Porter (Coconut Porter), Wind Devil (Red IPA), Wild Prairie Orange (Blonde with Orange) and Out West (Session IPA). However after placing my order I was informed that they were out of the Porter and so I went with the Lip Kick (Imperial Brown Ale) instead. The first beer that I tried was the Good county Wheat which has a smooth start before the wheat flavor kicks in and then it had a bit of the advertised citrus on the finish. Up second was the Barn Burn which was smooth to start off with and then an interesting finish reminding me of a wheat like flavor instead of the Amber I was expecting. Third was the Lip Kick which is a beer where you can sort of taste the alcohol but you also get that caramel finish you would expect for a brown ale. Up fourth was the Wild prairie orange which had a super weird rubbing alcohol taste with a bit of orange at the finish. Something tasted off though and I can't imagine this is how it is supposed to taste. It ended up being the first beer in a long time that I didn't bother to finish. The fifth beer that I tried was the Out west which was the session IPA and it had a nice little bit of hops on the finish. Last but certainly not least was the Wind devil and you could definitely get the alcohol in this one but in a good way with a bit of the hops on the finish. Out of the bunch I think Out West was my favorite while the Wild Prairie Orange was clearly my least favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Our bartender was super friendly to us and I enjoyed most of the beers that I drank here.
