We found this gem on Yelp while on a recent trip across country. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately and served our drinks within minutes. My husband had a beer which could have been a bit colder but was refreshing nonetheless. I had a Jameson neat and mine was perfect :) We asked our server what she would recommend and she suggested the turkey panini so we shared that and a bowl of the Irish stew. Both were delicious although the stew was lukewarm and the panini appeared to have sat for a bit. We didn't wait long for our food so we were a bit surprised at the temperature of both items, but again, not a big deal...it was still very tasty! Just a few customers on a Thursday afternoon so it was a quiet meal. We did strike up a conversation with a gentleman who happened to be a huge Buffalo Bills fan and was quite enthusiastic and entertaining to visit with! Overall, a nice, quiet place to grab a meal and a beverage after hours of driving. They had several tv's and looks like it could be a lot of fun with a crowd. Would definitely recommend! read more

Always looking for local, we found McKinney's Pub on 3rd West in downtown Grand Island. Looking like most of the smaller Irish pubs I've been in, in the Midwest, theirs an immediate comfort as soon as you walk into the door. Green walls, dark wood and brass foot rails. I, of course, started off with a Guinness, which was perfectly poured and my wife a Diet Coke. The staff is relaxed and friendly, giving us plenty of time to look over a fairly extensive menu. My wife decided on the Buffalo Chicken wrap, and I went all in on the Peanut butter burger. My wife really liked her wrap, lots of contrasting goodies to complement the chicken with had some bite but wasn't too spicy. If you're going to tray a peanut butter burger, you need to like peanut butter- it gives the burger a different taste. Served with a mandarin chutney on a tasty bun, I found myself liking it more and more as I enjoyed it. We were offered desserts, but declined as we were absolutely stuffed. Oh, how could I forget to mention the curled chip!!!!nothing short of awesome! Think of a curly cue fry combined with a steak fry. Really, really great! read more

If you're looking for an Irish pub this is as authentic as they come. Saturday night and 9 of us gathered to talk and have a meal together. Seating right up. Typical kids menu foods done well. Salads were nice. Bread rolls with cinnamon butter a real treat. So much to choose from... I had the shepherd's pie with champ on top... Best I've had in awhile. Really hot and took a while to finish. I tried the fun curled chips and they were lightly seasoned... My wife would have preferred them a little crisper but they were perfect for me and they had malt vinegar on the table... Delicious. The decor was perfect and bathrooms clean. I'd come back here in a flash. The staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. read more

First the good. They have a wide selection on British and Irish beers and whiskeys. The staff was friendly and service prompt. They did have some Irish options on the menu but they also fall into the problem that a lot of "Irish" pubs have around here. That problem is over 1/2 the menu is things like Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese and other decidedly none Irish fair. The problem this creates is you do a lot of types of food average but master nothing. That was our meal, average. The Irish bowl was bland and the afore mentioned Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese had a good heat but was overly salty. The salads were the tastiest part of the meal. I just want to make a plea to people doing Irish pubs. Ireland has a variety of delicious foods that take time and effort to master. Stick to those, figure them out, and you will shine. read more

4.5 Stars for ambience, food and we couldn't believe how low our bill was - shocking in a great way! We found this restaurant through Yelp and chose it based on the great reviews. We had the Irish Nachos which were SO DELICIOUS! It's fries, pulled pork, beer cheese, bbq sauce and gravy - sounded like a strange combination but our very friendly waitress suggested them. So glad we listened! I ordered a side salad that was a very generous size and had cucumber, cheese and croutons with the house vinaigrette which was delicious. We shared the cod tacos and loved the fixings but weren't overly impressed with the fish, we are admittedly picky about our fish. The tacos came with a side choice and we had the potatoes with gravy - very yummy! We will be back and bring our kids as there is an arcade right next door! read more

I enjoy this place for lunch. The employees are helpful and you can sit inside with the garage doors open and still get fresh air. They have delicious pretzel bites and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers that are both very good. read more

How this place has this many stars with how absolutely abysmal our meal was tonight baffles me. Nothing was hot, the clearly frozen burgers from Walmart were still cold insides the entire patty was grey, all the vegetables tasted like they never been washed and aren't even close to fresh. The Mac and cheese was more like play dough with noodles inside. The nachos were just a giant soggy pile of oil and then to add insult to injury it taste like the only thing used to season any of the food was a metric crap tone of sugar and literally nothing else. This was some of the worst tasting food I've had anywhere in this country read more

This is a great pub. The service is excellent, food is delicious and a fine value. It is hard to imagine a better place in Grand Island to hang out and have a few drinks . BTW, the bread pudding is truly terrific, no kidding. read more

This restaurant has good food. It's one of the best one here in Grand island. I had the fish and chips and the Irish stew both good. They made the Irish stew in a traditional way. Guinness, lamp, potatoes, onion, celery and carrots. I think It was the best item in the menu. The Guinness was decent. I have to say that they don't know how to pour it though. People in Ireland will die seeing the bartender pouring the stout without the 2 minutes in between. I still enjoy it though. read more

Don't order the fish n' chips. Tasted more like soggy catfish. If I'd have had some ketchup, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Chips were 1/2 way authentic. The pretzel bites were freaking delicious! read more

This was place was great. It was hard to find places open on the fourth of July but being a traveler I needed food. This was place was open and so I decided to give it a shot. Nice clean space, has a nice Irish pub feel. I was not hungry, but my friend had a cup of elk chili and shepherd's pie and loved both. This is a great spot to meet friends after work, I went to meet a friend while visiting. Wife and myself in now for lunch having apple crisp dessert with ice cream and Rueben sandwich splitting for us. Great service. Nice setting downtown area. Apple crisp is good and appears fresh made and ice cream is great. Marginal size for 2 but no issues there. Rueben sandwich on sourdough bread. 3 choices available. Rather bland tasting. If we had blindfolds on, not sure either of us could identify what it was. Potato side...same. Would not return. read more

Finally nice to have a pub in GI, it feels like a true pub and can't go wrong with Guinness on tap!!!

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The shepherds pie was amazing and the bread pudding was one of the best I've ever had.

Get the deviled eggs! As odd as it sounds to get deviled eggs from a bar, you won't regret it!

The food was delicious!!! The lemon garlic chicken wings were amazing. I ordered the shepherds pie and it was exquisite. The wait staff were friendly and very attentive. The lead chef came out to make sure things were good and it definitely was and then some. If you find yourself in Grand Island, NE definitely stop by for some amazing food and service. read more

Service was awesome. The food was decent but not great. I had fish and chips, which was fine. Potatoes were a little thickly sliced for my liking, but prepared well. Another person at my table had a hot beef sandwich. The gravy was really thick and very sweet. They couldn't eat the potatoes and gravy because of the overpowering sweetness. Yet another had corned beef and cabbage. Lots of meat, pile of diced potatoes, 2 little pieces of cabbage. Overall, I would say it will suit some taste buds better than others. read more
