I first spoke to John Baker late on a cold winter Sunday night, when my parent's furnace had broken…read moredown, and I couldn't get any answer from the larger companies. He walked me through what was necessary to get their furnace working again over the phone at no charge. John Baker has now been taking care of our heating and cooling for years. His company is a smaller business, but they are higher quality and less expensive than the big companies. He is honest and freely shares his extensive knowledge of the technology, and I will be sad whenever the time comes for him to retire.

We had John Baker replace our entire HVAC system less than three years ago (in August of 2018)…read more John, the owner, was a personal referral from my boss, for whom he had done some work in the past. Of course, he was very responsive prior to and up until the installation was completed, and indicated that during the warranty period, which was five years, there would be no labor charges if anything failed. On 5/24/21 our A/C went out. My husband called John's cell number (also the number listed for his business) and had to leave a message. After an hour with no call back (even to schedule for the next day or ANYTHING), I sent a text to John Baker, as we had communicated via text during the purchase/install. It's now two days later, and still no response! I had to call another company, who sent a technician out within six hours during a very busy, very hot period of time, when they certainly could have put off a new customer for days if they wanted to. If John Baker didn't respond to me, who knew him personally and talked to him on a regular basis through my employer, he certainly isn't going to be there for anyone else after he has their money.... AND his website says they're open 24/7, with taglines such as "We are looking to make customers, not fortunes", "Low Rates/No Waits", and "24/7 response - no matter what time of day you need emergency repairs, we are standing by for your convenience". Seriously....

The next morning JR from Gardner was at our house by 10:30am to take a look. Unfortunately, the whole box and breakers needed to be replaced. He was able to fix it up so we could keep important things running temporarily until they were able to come make the repairs. We received a quote via email by 3pm that day and had a serviceman out to do the work by 8:30am the next day. The whole job was complete by 11:30am (he was quick!) with no messes left and very minimal wall damage (which was expected to be much worse.) I am no electrical expert, but I would say the quality of work was excellent. We also felt that we paid a very fair price that was actually less than we anticipated. All members of the Gardner Electric staff that we encountered were professional, understanding, honest, and efficient. I highly recommend them for your residential electrical needs.
