We LOVE this market, it's one of the best farm markets we have ever been to. There seem to be hundreds of vendors, it's one of the largest farmers markets I know of. It is so much fun to wander around, browsing the stalls and mingling with the big crowd that shows up every Wednesday morning (the market runs 9 am to 2 pm). The produce is top notch and comes from local farms in Ontario. But it's so much more than a farmers' market, too. There are food vedors and local artisans as well. Our #1 favorite vendor has to be Tam Nguyen of "Saigon Soul Food." She is amazing. Her stall is the reason we return to the market year after year. Tam and her parents -- sometimes her children -- run her stall with aplomb, offering up free samples of her amazing fresh summer rolls, spring rolls, curry puffs, petit pies...she serves each sample with a dollop of her deliciously seductive sauces from roasted garlic plum (like a duck sauce) to a thick creamy peanut satay. You can order food to eat on the spot -- love that curry soup, those fresh summer rolls, and that awesome sticky rice -- or you can buy her appetizers frozen and reheat them at home. We adore her veggie spring rolls and curry puffs. We also buy several jars of her sauces, our favorite being the spicy roasted garlic and plum. If you visit one stand at the market, make it "Saigon Soul Food." The other stalls are just as enticing, though. There is local maple syrup, with the vendor all too happy to share pictures of his trees and his secrets of "harvesting" the syrup. There are jewellers with beautiful baubles. There are artisans serving up everything from hand carved wooden side tables to kiln fired chipmunks to beautiful oil paintings of local flora and fauna. We really adore wandering this market and know that any visitor to the Muskoka area will find something to love, too.

We went last weekend, it was a lot of people and kids there. This is a huge farm that lots of…read morevarieties to pick. Now it's a good time to pick strawberries, raspberry, blueberries, peas, and corns. There are wagons to take ppl from one field to another. We got off at the strawberry field, but we don't really into the strawberry, so just took a look; then we got to the raspberry field, they looked good, but we barely eat raspberry; then we went to the Blueberry field, our destination was here. We saw another side of the field was having big blueberries, but they didn't open that side to us. And they said it was noon already, most of the big ones had been picked. I tasted a few, they were sort of big, but soured. We moved to other sides, but still the same. When we went home, most of them we made smoothies with honey. We also went to the peas field, not too many people. The peas were so sweet that we could eat them raw. But we went home to boil them with the skin, the skin was hard to eat, it was not snow peas, and too expensive when weighed with the skin. Good experience for the kids. They were happy.

The blueberries were plentiful but small and not that sweet. However the strawberries were so juicy and delicious. You pay $9 per person (6 and under are free), then after you pick, you show your receipt and they deduct what you paid. So as long as you pick at least $9 worth, there's technically no entry fee. We somehow managed to pick under and was asked if we wanted to go back and pick more but was too lazy to. There are 2 different tractors that take you - one to the blueberries. The other to the apples, sweet corn, raspberries, strawberries. There weren't many raspberries to pick, and no one else was there probably for that reason. You can bring your own baskets, otherwise they have plenty and you can pay for them. The tractor wagon ride was very long and enjoyable for kids. They have a little playground area and lots of picnic tables. We tried the apple cinnamon froyo which was one of the flavours (the other ones were rasberry and blueberry). The apple cinnamon flavour was unlike anything i have ever tasted. A bit sour, very cinnamony, and sweet. It tasted like apple pie in a froyo. Overall it was great value!
