But this food lion is always pretty cool and I stumbled upon something very near and dear to my heart at this location so I decided to write them a review. Maybe I'll make this a new norm! This location is always clean and well stocked, so I don't mind dropping in every now and again. This trip I walked in a saw they had new and different types of plants. Which really shocked me lol. I ended up buying a beautiful philodendron at a great price and now I'm sold on this location lol. Very happy with my groceries and my new plant baby!!

I have never done a review about literally anything that I have experienced at a business but today was it. I just left the Food Lion in (Huntersville) while I was there the self checkout area was not working so you had to get in line for a cashier. The size of the lines was not the problem, I understand that, it was the fucking attitude that I got because a Food Lion employee actually had to ring me up for my groceries. I know it's not their problem that the self checkouts were broken but it sure as fuck ain't my problem that they had to bag my groceries. I was the guy in the beginning when the self checkout lines were installed saying damn I got a bag my own groceries now after my experience I'd rather bag my own groceries after the zero effort of customer service that I received today. There is no doubt that the cashier made me feel like I was an inconvenience that I was spending my hard earned money at a grocery store and had to have a actual human assist me in completing my purchase of groceries. I drive-by two other grocery stores to get to Food Lion, and the reason is not because of their prices, definitely not because of the location, I'm just a creature of habit and I genuinely enjoy going to this particular Food Lion in Huntersville but after today I can quickly change my reasoning for shopping at this location. All things being said it was a straight up disappointment and a shit show. One more thing while we're on the customer service subject. I don't mind cigarette smoke, I myself am not a smoker but would it be possible for employees to maybe not smoke right by the front where everybody walks in. You would think that food line being such a big company would want to represent themselves and their employees a little better than having the workers smoking right by the front fucking door doors when you walk in pretty sure there's little kids that walk in daily and they don't need to be seeing that shit but who am I, apparently after my experience today, just another replaceable person that needs food. Once they finally do get to you the cashier acts like they are the fastest checkers in the east as they throw your groceries 1 by 1 in the bottom of the buggy. I'm a twice a week shopper at Aldi, but this changed Saturday when I walked out without my buggy of groceries. Store is heavily shopped and a bit nasty. No emphasis on sweeping and mopping,especially in produce. Back to Food Lion. Food Lion will get you in and out quickly.

I didn't end up signing up for a CSA but I did start making regular trips to the farm to pick up produce. Their produce is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is their peaches but they have fantastic heirloom tomatoes, corn, etc as well. Everyone is very nice, there is plenty of parking, easy access off I-85 and you get to love on their sweet pups.

It is a very new establishment with fair prices on many of the items we saw. Others may be questionably priced, but this makes sense in today's economy. The store is very clean and organized. The lighting is good and doesn't feel outdated at all. It isn't a big supermarket, but for the area, it is pretty good. As we were checking out, we asked about the loyalty points program because the owner mentioned it, and we definitely wanted to sign up. However, the information is collected on paper, and you do not receive loyalty points even when signing up and making a purchase at the same time. I asked for the manager, whose name is Miguel, and when I mentioned whether we could save our receipt for getting the points in the future, he stated no, it cannot be done and proceeded to say, "It is what it is," which I found to be a bit rude. He is part of the customer service desk and maybe needs some lessons in customer service; that statement was unprofessional. The young lady was sweet but a bit shy. My elderly mother asked a takeout restaurant if they accepted SNAP benefits; however, they do not yet participate in that program. That's a bit of a letdown. It has the potential to be pretty good as a local supermarket, especially if you are looking for certain Latin-inspired foods. But the manager's rudeness was unexpected.
