The Long Version: So everytime I'm visiting a city or town that's far from home (far being a relative term, but anywhere about 100km or more from my house, lol) I like to check out the grocery stores, even the large chains, because I find stores always have local items that I can't easily get at home. So while we were in Perth, ON, my husband humoured me and came with me to the Perth Metro. I was thrilled to see local-ish items like Artizen Kombucha (brewed in Perth) and Merrickville Bakery cookies (not in Perth but Merrickville is nearby and closer to Perth than it is to Ottawa, where I'm living). I also spotted an alcoholic version of Tahiti Treat, which I've never seen before. I loved Tahiti Treat as a kid! The store is fairly large. It was nearly organized and clean looking. I liked how the aisles are named after local streets or areas (in addition to having a number). We got a bottle of the pineapple coconut Artizen Kombucha ($3.99). He met me at the meat counter opposite the bread department. He explained that the price was $9.99 the same price as the meat balls plaque indicated. The meat ball plaque indicated $9.99 for meat balls-there was no mention of price for Italian sausage outside what I saw was $5.00. There was no admit or apology of wrong pricing or confused pricing. He says the $5.00 pricing was for some canned goods. I do believe that the customer deserves the right to have items more clearly priced-I would not have bought this item at this price plus I incurred additional expenses including another trip to the store. Shopping in Arnprior is sure becoming more challenging - incorrect pricing, competitive pricing and lack of inventory.

This Foodland in Bancroft is a welcome addition to the Bancroft area and community. It has a small…read moresit in area with a coffee machine where you can sit and have a coffee or a bite to eat. This Foodland also includes a deli and bakery, and the vastness of the store is really great for a Foodland, which took over the building where Price Chopper use to be. It is open 24 hours a day and has hosted a drive in youth event in the summer. Next to No Frills, Foodland is the other grocery store in Bancroft. It is located beside the Canadian Tire.

I had a bad taste for them when they told me to hold my returnables during the pandemic or take them to Big M. Now they require me to have my license scanned to buy beer. This is not a NYS law. Check my DOB fine, even look at me and notice I'm a senior, fine, but they are data mining. I told the cashier I did not want my License scanned and she said the store requires it. I said I didn't want my info in their system. She said" Oh Honey we already have all of your info" Great to know in these days of system hacking." I'm done with them. I'll drive farther to Big M where they use their head. I now know why they are still in business, when up the road is a cheaper option.
