Veggie Paradise specialises in Veg take-out (call ahead), Frozen/Dried meals and ingredients. I write "Veg" 'cause it may be even Vegan, as opposed to just Vegetarian. They also do custom vegan/vegetarian cakes/pastries. This place is run by 2 sisters and their workers. As soon as Sandra heard that I wanted something to eat, she prepped me with an Asian meal - as opposed to their other meals that are more popular amongst gwai-lo. Meal comprised of a soup (looked like Tom Yum, but not sweet/spicy), a separate plate with Rice, Bok Choy (chopped with garlic), & a portion of fermented Mustard Greens with Green Peas (this was medium spicy). The meal was tasty, yet rather homey as it wasn't overly salted. I really felt like I was eating at an aunt's house! This place is located in a rather industrial, catering to Vegans/Vegetarians (or people who just enjoy the occasional veg meal), so just call ahead if you want to order something! The sisters will even offer you a sample if it's available. :)

We ate in at an available table, though this does seem to be more of a take out joint - there are three or four tables. When we said we were staying, they said we could pay at the end. All the food is on disposable plates and there's no table service or water brought out. The food was ready at different times and the person in the kitchen just said the name of the food and looked at us and we got it from the counter. The chat burger was so flavorfuland comes comes cut up but still together like a burger. It's doused in sauce, diced fresh red onion, a bit of diced tomato, and other toppings. It was fantastic. The food is spicy but also sweet and super flavorful. The masala fries were very good and I don't know if I'll ever feel the same about just ketchup and fries again. The vegetable momos were very good but eclipsed by all the other delicious food. The vegan kalga gyro (they say Jy-ro) came wrapped up with fries, onion, cucumber, melted daiya, and at least two delicious sauces. Quite a hidden gem. We were the only white people in there, which is usually a good sign. They seem to do a steady take out business including pizzas. I didn't see lasagna anywhere on the current menu.

Ok, so I rarely write reviews. I find them a bit of a waste of time, and I'm firmly against writing…read moreone if you dislike the restaurant. Hence why we're here. Well, at first I was a bit on the fence about ordering cause of the vegetarian/vegan menu, I like my meat, love meat, got to have my protein dammit! But wow! was I ever surprised and happy about following my gut and choosing to go there. You see, I'm from Vancouver, and if you know a bit about my hometown is that you know we have a very large asian population. Heck, I'd even go as far as saying it's my second language, (my first language is English and my parents are Chilean...never spoken a word of it) but I've been around it so much somehow, I feel I could get by given the chance. So, by examining the pictures from the online menu, I thought to myself; If the food is anything remotely like the pictures, it looks exactly like my fav spot in Vancouver - Congee Noodle King- also a must try if you're in east Vancouver. Just trust my absent Asian ancestry ok?! I ordered the N65. Fried Noodles with Steamed and Stir-Fried Bean Curd, and as a request asked them to make it spicy to which they happily and kindly obliged. This dish was packed with flavour. Oh em gee! Loaded with fresh crunchy veggies, the noodles were spot on: thin, velvety and a lot of them. Makes for some healthy slurps! Oh, did I mention the meat? No, I didn't, because it didn't have any, and I have never not missed something so much. The crispy fried bean curds tasted like deep fried spare ribs. My pupils dilated a bit. And that's ok cause I went into a food coma, got to heaven and wrote a review about the very first Asian restaurant I try in Toronto and I'm already planning to go back. If you give this place less than 5 stars you don't know food, Asian food or how to speak it so go on and chew on some meat! Thank you for the wonderful and friendly service as well. I shall return. How do you say that in Mandarin? Cheers! - Patricio

I tried their soy chicken drum sticks, kim chi, dumplings, siu mai, and radish cake. My absolute favourite and would recommend is the radish cake!! It is so good. One thing to note also was that the employees just seemed miserable. I understand we came an hour before closing but they just seemed miserable and sort of ticked off that we were coming an hour before closing.

The Banh Mi was small and for me was lacking in ingredients. I was eating mostly bread, just a small amount of meat and veggies were inside. Papaya salad was nothing I would expect. Did not like the sauce and the crushed peanuts on top were stale. The best was the vermicelli bowl. It was flavorful and fresh. The only thing is I would love to have more "meat". Not sure if they were trying to rush with the food before closing but I was a little disappointed with the taste. I would give them a second chance, maybe I just ordered wrong items.

They are only open Monday to Friday but they do have a huge assortment of vegan and vegetarian Chinese Food. What I like is that they tell you what is vegan and what is vegetarian. 90% of the store is vegan, but anything that contains milk or dairy is pointed out on the sign. They have a huge assortment of Asian vegan and vegetarian food. I purchased a couple of frozen entrees (black pepper "beef" with rice and "chicken" tikka masala). The entrees are around $7 to $8. They are frozen and all you have to do is pop them in the microwave for 4 minutes. Very tasty. In addition, I also purchased packages of vegan shiu mai, vegan BBQ pork buns and vegan curry buns. Shiu mai was $14 for 35 small dumplings, and the buns were around $4 for 6 or so. While slightly pricier than real meat, it definitely looked and tasted like the real thing. Unfortunately, if you're vegan or vegetarian and want mock meats, it is more expensive than real meat, ironically. However, the majority of the food here is hand made, and also cheaper. Verdict: if you're looking for Chinese vegan/vegetarian food, something different than the typical stuff you get at Canadian supermarkets, then I'd definitely recommend you check it out. However, just a word of warning, some of the stuff is higher in sodium, so this should be more of a treat than an everyday thing (unless you don't care about your salt intake, then go for it).

What made the food less enjoyable was the service. The dosa are best eaten fresh off the griddle and two of the dosas came without chutney and sambhar without the server realizing that it was missing. When pointed it took several minutes to come. The Rasam Vadas did not come till we had to remind them several times, and last (4th) reminder, the server tells that we did not order. We ordered one Gudbud Ice Cream, two came. We paid for two. The description says strawberry ice cream, it was mango. The washrooms were flooded and they just could not manage it. Several folks were upset at the servers and manager. They just couldn't handle. The food was sub par when compared to other MTRs. The Masala Dosa was "well done" rather than golden brown. The idlis that MTR set a gold standard for was not at all MTR quality. The Medu Vada looked as if we made at home rather than restaurant made. The food is good - but MTR is known for it quality and that every dish that comes out is a 5 star dish. Other restaurant who serve this food can get by, but MTR has set a higher standard.

The food arrived a little while later and really hit the spot. Both dishes were exactly what we were craving and absolutely packed with flavor. I really enjoyed both concoctions but I'll give a slight edge to the Mutter Paneer, which was loaded with delicious pieces of fried paneer and was spiced just right. (Would it have been nice if the meal had included rice? Of course, but we already had some made so it wasn't a huge deal.) I think Curry and Chutney might just be our new go-to spot for Indian food.

Before I run the risk of saying "Brampton finally has a vegan spot", I would be remiss to not…read moreacknowledge that there are numerous Indian restaurants in the city which are either vegetarian or vegan. But for those looking for a vegan spot which serves up largely 'western' food, this definitely fills a void. When I was looking ahead at the menu, it's clear that they put a lot of thought and purpose in their menu. For example, there were a few different types of burgers, but they weren't simply doing their best to impersonate beef such as a soy patty or a 'Beyond' meat. Rather, they were more simple whole foods, such as black bean and mushroom-based. Most vegetarian burgers I've enjoyed most are more like these rather than the former. For a restaurant on the lower end of the cost scale, this would have to be one of the most nicely decorated ones. In fact, quite a bit nicer than many restaurants in a higher price point. A gorgeous open interior with lots of copper features and almost an indoor garden theme. Even the dinnerware for dinning in exceeded anything in the same price point by a long shot. I've always loved wraps and falafel, so it was easy to pick that from their menu. I asked about their falafel and they are baked here rather than fried and they also use carrot in the mix (alone with other components). It was a bit confusing from the menu description however as its called a falafel wrap, but in the description they're called 'carrot keftedes' (Greek meatballs). They definitely most closely resembled a falafel, so maybe they should stick with that - but most importantly they tasted great. Lots of seasoning and flavour which is always great, but especially important when relying less on sauces, oils, etc... for taste compared to conventional dishes. The garlic aioli sauce that went on it was amazing and I'd love to know how they made it since it's of course vegan too. As some said, portions are a bit smaller and that was somewhat true for the wrap - though it was still quite filling. But that wasn't true for the side of cubed sweet potatoes I ordered. They were roasted and then seasoned with salt and pepper. The portion I received could easily be split by two or even more people and still be considered a lot. I have a bigger appetite than most and even then had a full portion for takeout. I'll try and come by more regularly and I hope others do too. If it's really filling a void that many express is in the restaurant industry - and especially in Brampton, then people need to step up and support them.
