TW: Sexual Harassment I was so excited to discover this…read moreplace, as I need herbs on an ongoing basis for my business. It seemed cool and not of this time when I went in and saw all the jars and met the man who owns the shop. He gave me the herbs I needed and started commenting on my looks, saying he likes a woman like me. I was uncomfortable and wouldn't go back, but it got worse when he kept asking for a hug, to which I declined. Then he came out from behind the register area and tried to hug me. I pushed him off of me various times and felt super unsafe and just wanted to get out of there, so I booked it and never went back. I see many other reviews saying he's so cool and nice. I guess I was just his type. Gross. It's really sad because herb shops are hard to come by in San Diego, but thankfully Datura in North Park is a reliable apothecary with kind/ non-rapey staff to boot. So I get all my stuff there now.

Step inside and you'll see a vast array of labeled, empty glass jars. The shop owner is kind, knowledgeable and generous. He explained that he keeps his products sealed in the back to retain freshness, which I really appreciated. Though he was out of Arnica, I decided to purchase other items including a toothpaste powder that he recommended for tooth pain. I noted how lovely everything smelled and mentioned lavender was a favorite of mine. He disappeared in the back and then reappeared with a large bag of the most fragrant lavender I've ever smelled. It was from Provence! He offered me a sample to take home and I happily accepted. It continues to smell like lavender in my kitchen. No doubt I'll be back to support this local gem. Tip: this is a cash only vendor; stop by the ATM ahead of time.

They have a great variety to choose from, whether you're into milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even non dairy options. I also love that they offer chocolate drinks and coffee, so it's easy to turn a quick stop into a little treat moment. I tried the peanut butter dates and they were so good. Smooth, rich, and just the right size when you want something sweet without going overboard. I also had a dark chocolate truffle and that one was just as good. You can really taste the quality. Customer service was a highlight. The guy helping me was super personable, gave great suggestions for drinks, and was genuinely kind, which always makes the experience better. Honestly, I'm just happy I found a chocolate spot within walking distance. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving something sweet but still want it to feel a little elevated.

I sampled chocolate from Peru, Madagascar, and Kenya, and they all had unique fruity characteristics. Because they're vegan, so they use oat milk for their chocolate instead of dairy. My wife and I also wanted some drinks while we were here. I had a hot chocolate. My wife had hers with espresso shots. Good espresso in pure chocolate will never not be good. They are family owned and they only add chocolate, sugar, and oat milk to make their bars. Overall, this was a fun place to check out at Little Italy, and they also had a stall at the Farmer's Market.

Located towards the end of Little Italy, Petrini's sits right under one of many apartment complex's. Parking wasn't really an issue in my opinion. My husband and I parked in the guest spots in the garage right next to it. But there's also lots of street parking and street lots as well (you have to pay). The restaurant itself was cozy and clean. I didn't have issues with it and they had plenty of seating. I don't know off the top of my head if they're dog friendly. I thought service was pretty good. It almost seemed kind of like they were a family. Staff was very friendly and constantly checking up on us. There was an instance where they forgot my minestrone that came with the meal but I wasn't upset because staff was very apologetic and they gave me a fresh one. I think service was pretty spot on. The food was really yummy. The calamari was nice and crispy and I really loved the smoked salmon bruschetta. The smoked salmon was flavorful. My husband had the ribeye steak and it was juicy, slightly overcooked from medium rare but not bad. I had the smoked salmon Alfredo and it was yummy, I will say it's slightly on the heavier end though. But overall a very yummy dinner! I would see myself coming back to Petrini's again! It's one of the less busy spots in Little Italy but I think I'm just as satisfied if I were to go to somewhere deeper in Little Italy. I would suggest spot to others who want Italian food in Little Italy!

Petrini's did not disappoint. Dare I say it was the best eggplant parmesan I have ever tasted? Under normal conditions who knows. Under mine, it was pure bliss. After recently moving away from San Diego after nine great years, shoveling perfectly seasoned tomato sauce and crunchy eggplant onto (an entire free loaf per entree!) garlic bread couldn't even be topped by the homecoming of sailors immortalized at embarcedero. Thanks for staying classy while I was away San Diego.
