My dad has been going here for the past year for his hair cuts once a month and has really been happy with the outcome. In addition to his hair cut she trims his eyebrows which I thought was a lovely touch. Makes my dad, who is a business man, more refined. The last time my father and I went, she told us some funny stories about Cinco de Mayo from this year. The humor had the whole place laughing. A really laid back environment in the spanish vibe for sure! A little culture never hurt :) Taco King is right beside the entrance of Sonia's. WORST salon experience of life. I showed her many photos of what I wanted. And what my 10 year old…read moredaughter wanted. She said no problem. When we got there her salon was cluttered and messy. In the back of my mind I knew we should've walked out then. But I thought maybe she's better at hair than keeping her salon tidy. Big mistake. I had long straight, medium dark brown hair to the middle of my back. My daughter already had long layers in the front and she just needed a trim. Sonia looked at the photos of the layers I wanted then proceeded to chop my hair relatively one length, much shorter than I wanted, and really uneven. She then bleached it blonde about 3 inches from the top and toned it to a mousy brown that almost looked green at the time. I had shown her pictures of high and low lights that were almost auburn that I wanted to give my hair some demention. She didn't do any of that. I wanted my hair to be cut to just below my collar bone with lots of blended layers. She lobbed it off, one length, with tiny point cutting right below my shoulder. I told her it looked green and she said the toner will wash out to blonde, which isn't what I wanted in the first place. While my hair was processing she cut my daughters hair and it has shelves, not the blended layered trim we asked for and showed her pictures of. She took off way too much on both of us as well. It basically looks like my daughter is growing out an old mullet. My poor daughter is too scared to go to another salon to get it fixed. I know it's just hair and it will grow back but it's embarrassing to walk around looking like this while it does, and this is her job. I shouldn't have paid for what she did, but I did because I don't enjoy confrontation. We paid $314 to look like a toddler went wild on our hair with scissors and bleach. Now its going to cost another $300 to get it fixed elsewhere. DO NOT LET SONIA RUIN YOUR HAIR TOO.

Anywho...I got my hair cut this past Friday at another place and it was the fastest haircut I had ever gotten. Less than five minutes total. Never used scissors...only a razor. I won't name the name of the place because I don't want them to get hate. My boyfriend goes there and they do good work on him. But the lady that cut my hair this evening at JB's was so sweet and kind and gave me exactly what I wanted originally from the first place. How does this salon not have more reviews? It's tucked away behind Plato's Closet, and the only…read morereason I originally checked it out was for a Groupon for a brow wax/tint for a steal of a price. I decided to try it out for a cut and color before a trip south to visit family. I wanted a dramatic change so I requested a senior stylist and made an appointment with Mileena for cut and color, and Karlie for brow wax and tint. I had shoulder length dark blonde/light brown hair with lighter blonde highlights but I missed having bold hair. I mentioned when I scheduled I was thinking about going cool red/purple with a peachy money piece and they passed the note to my stylist. Mileena already had an idea in mind when I sat down. She mixed 3 colors for the perfect red and off we went. She was so sweet to talk to, and everyone in the salon had a great vibe. When we first finished I wasn't thrilled with the money piece (my roots rebelled the peach) and we game planned to try a pink overlay to fix the neon orange tones. Took just a little longer and I felt so bad asking for a change but Mileena wanted this project to be perfect! And it turned out amazing. She is INCREDIBLE, I'm so happy with my hair! Karlie was also very wonderful. We game planned the shape of my brow (I sucked at telling her I didn't want them so rounded but she understood) and asked if I preferred wax or threading. I didn't care so she did a mix of both to get the perfect shape, and she tinted my brows a touch darker to match the new tones of my hair. My only complaint is that I just discovered them now and only have time for one more visit before I move to the lower 48. Great hairdressers and brow stylists are hard to find!
