What a lovely village in Switzerland. After exploring the town, we settled on lunch at Ristorante…read moreCorona, and it was well worth it. We sat on the patio and ordered pizza and the guys each ordered a calzone. The pizza was incredible. The crust was light and like nothing in the U.S. The pizza was topped with tender mushrooms, and lots of cheese, it was excellent. The calzones were huge, but they managed to eat every last bite. The tender crusts were filled with gently cooked eggs and a nice runny yolk spilling all over the ham, mushrooms, and cheese. We ended the meal with cappuccinos and they too were delicious, creamy, and not bitter. We still are talking about our lunch at Ristorante Corona.

My husband had a risotto with sausage, and I had pasta with tomato sauce with bacon, onion, and cheese. Both dishes were excellent. With just the right amount of saltiness and semolina and air bubbles. But I've zoomed in on the crust too enthusiastically. The menu is extensive, and has any Italian pizza lovers favorite combination (all languages available--at least English, French, German, Italian). The ingredients were perfectly farm-fresh. The cherry tomatoes on my buffalina pizza had a sweet sugary flavor profile. And the Buffalo mozzarella was thin skinned with a soft milky interior, just the way it should be. The sauce was simple--fresh tomatoes puréed. And it's like they knew me, because the condiment they brought to thr table was pimento oil, because I love being emotional when I eat. Clearly it worked because I'm in love. The amoré kind of love. FYI There's public parking just beyond the restaurant, so the time between parking and pizza is efficient. And service was very professional and kind.

Great food with a beautiful view!…read more Ascona is absolutely beautiful and this restaurant sits on one of the prettiest streets I've seen that overlooks the entire lake and mountains and it's a beautiful sight to see. During the day you can sit outside in the mornings or afternoons and share a cup of coffee or nice glass of wine and just enjoy the sun shining over the lake and the peace and tranquility and beauty of Switzerland from this great restaurant. At night the restaurant lights are dimmed low and the dinner is enjoyed by glow of candlelight. It makes for a wonderfully romantic evening. The wine list is pretty extensive and they also have a nice selection of Ticinese wines that you cannot find outside of Switzerland. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and our server was happy to go over the wine list with us and made some excellent recommendations for local wines to try. They have a pretty good extensive menu for food as well, they have everything from pizza to salads to pasta and grilled shrimp and everything is pretty affordable especially for being in Switzerland. One of the best dishes I had was the mushroom risotto it was very very good and full of flavor. It was also nice that you could order the smaller or larger portion size which is always a great option for groups who like to share and try several plates. I highly recommend trying some of their deserts they are all very good as well. They had some deserts on the menu that I've never had anywhere else before and some I've never even heard of so we decided to try them since our server recommended them so highly and said they were some of the restaurants specialties and they were all very unique and very very good. Overall it's a great place, if you're in the area and looking for a nice place to enjoy the view and get some great food I highly recommend checking this place out morning or night you will not be disappointed!

Calzone was INCREDIBLE, much better than certain touristic spots (that charge something like 30chf for a substantially smaller and less good Calzone than this one for 18Chf! ---: Desert: 5/5 - Delicious Tiramisu. Rather rich and tasty, but weavers weren't soaked so no problems there. -Service: 5/5 Stars -: Fast and Friendly -Amount of people: Terrasse out back and inside were basically empty around 13:00. -Bathroom: 5/5 Stars -: Clean, up to date, no complaints. ____________________________________________ /Long version:/ Originally wanted to go somewhere a little further down the road (it had a positive yelp review :P) but ended up here. Very friendly service, and 2/3 dishes arrived after 15minutes. The Calzone arrived quite some time later, my two dining partners had already finished their dishes by the time I got it. The Vitello Tonato was good but difficult to judge since I haven't had anything similar for a while. The Penne alla Panna e Prosciutto was good but simple. Another 10minutes or so later I received my Calzone which was HUGE. The size of this thing blew me away, I managed to eat 2/3rds of it before surrendering. But not only size, also quality was good. Apart from the, for my taste, too many mushrooms it was one of the best Calzone I've ever had and it had no problem holding it's own against more expensive pizzas from much more upstanding restaurants. For desert we had some Tiramisu which was richer and tastier than most, but not in a fashion as for it to be too dense or have soaked weavers (weavers were on point). Bathrooms were clean and up to date too. Considering the price and considering what a small restaurant it is, both food and service were superb. Don't let the very basic terasse stop you!
HUGE Calzone, waited for a while but GOD IS IT GOOD! If the other Pizza's are as good as this Calzone, this is the place for pizza!

The weather was amazing and we immediately made use of their 'porch'. The food was great. We weren't that hungry and simply shared a pizza and each got a salad. When ordering a salad look for the word 'insalate', I got no clue what my friend ordred, but she ended up with a salat ON TOP of a pizza-bread. (Perhaps that was why the waiter was a bit confused by us sharing the other pizza - they probably concluded she was very hungry and/or greedy with her food). All in all, the food was good (the pizza more than great - had tomate, mozzerella, zucchini, aubergine etc) and definitely worth a second visit - maybe on our way back home.

When I queried the server whether they were really open, he said of course, just that most people didn't stay for dinner on Sundays. So, the two of us ordered two pastas and a pizza to share. The pastas were just passable, with noodles that were past al dente and arrabbiata sauce that was rather lacking in Calabrian peppers and garlic. Still, the server was quite proud of his trick of adding some brandy to top off the pasta. That probably helped but couldn't rescue the pasta. The pizza was better, as it came fresh off the oven. At least, we lucked out as the neighboring table was presented with two blackened lumps of dough that obviously had to be sent back. In a pinch, this will do, just don't expect quality Italian food despite the proximity.
