This is a solid place for fresh chicken! I normally go to Electric City Butcher in Santa Ana for chicken, but it's pricey. This place is cheaper than that place and more expensive than supermarket chicken, but I think it's fair for the quality you get! They had 4-6 different options for chicken, and I ended up getting the #2 (I think it was the brown rooster?). The cashier was friendly and could tell I wasn't sure which chicken to get, so she walked me through the differences between each one. I ended up with #2 since it had a yellow skin and chewier meat. We made Hainan chicken with it and we were pleased to see there was little to no scum in the soup! We also got a couple baluts and those were tasty too. We went on a Monday night and there was no wait. Parking is in a small lot but it was easy to find a spot. They have a decent selection of Vietnamese and Mexican spices and ingredients. A discussion with the gentleman behind the counter, and shortly afterwards I was the proud possessor of a freshly dressed chicken. I cooked it on Friday, and the resulting soup was the best I've ever had! I shared it, along with the other dishes I made, with a couple of friends, who agreed with my assessment. COCKROACH INFESTATION this used to be my spot for chicken because of the convenience but i recently came across a report from the health department dated 9/19/2019 that this place was infested with cockroaches and that my friends is a BIG NO for me and my food apparently this had been happening for a while now and just now they got caught by the health department who actually closed the place for a couple of days. I love coming here for farm fresh raw organic chicken. I believe they also sell eggs, balky and some fresh vegetables. They have different chicken varieties and offer a service to cut up the chicken! This is great because I can't break down a whole chicken to save my life. They take the extra step of removing any feathers that may have been left on during the processing. OK OK Eggs -- they only sell Jumbo but their not --I weigh mine at home and find they are Extra Jumbo (there is nothing larger).
