Wow. This place was incredible. The shrimp basil appetizer was delicious and perfectly flavored. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and came with a thin sauce / gravy. It also had vegetables and a perfectly cooked potato wedge. The cream brûlée was the best one I've ever had - even the average ones are good and this was way above that. Highly recommended. Wine was small selection and Cabernet Sauvignon was high quality. Amazing a town as small as Bathurst would have such fine dining - this is big city fine dining in a smaller town! $116 including tip for this wonderful meal. The service was good and there was a nice ambiance, but it's a little unfortunate that there is so little choices in the menu (I'm vegetarian and I don't drink alcohol). Despite that little detail, the restaurant was in itself pretty cosy and nice. read more

We were there tonight and it's still fantastic. But a few improvements could be made. There are only 8 entrees to choose from. 4 pasta dishes (1 veggie) and 4 mains. There are about the same amount of apps. No denying that everything is OUTSTANDING, but the menu feels very limited. The portions could be a bit bigger. Not much more but it did feel like there should have been more pasta in the bowl. The only real drawbacks though are the VERY limited and somewhat disappointing dessert and alcohol menu. The food is Mediterranean/Italian but we couldn't have lemoncello or even espresso at the end of the meal. Dessert is either creme Brule (eyeroll) or something called "chocolate". The chocolate option is basically a very soft brownie, heavy on the cocoa. Good enough but it would have been great to have a biscotti and espresso at the end or something fruity. Or even Gelato. Overall we recommend Fresco because the food is delicious. But as a retired chef and well traveled foodie I think there are a few tweaks they could make. read more

Even on a Wednesday night, the service and the food are excellent. Mignon was the best cooked since Las Vegas... the Albacore was sublime, the Lamb was delectable. Entrees are just right. A wonderful evening at Fresco's :) read more
