(I was right about the high quote from the dealership by almost $400.) I asked the person who greeted me at the shop if they had time to complete a thorough check of the car while they had it for my brakes and they did. When completed, their review included the work on the brakes and only the usual maintenance type things with no pressure for any additional, or possible unnecessary work. The Uhaul location in the town I live didnt have the one I needed so this location in Essex showed it to be available and open while reserving. It took my card information and I received confirmation with a transaction number and everything. Upon arrival NOBODY was there, doors were locked, nobody to answer the multiple phone calls made by myself, my boyfriend, and 2 different Uhaul customer service reps I sat on hold for 28min with trying to locate this manager because my boyfriend was sitting there literally just waiting. There was nothing in the Uhaul system stating any closure or anything for that spot so he was just as confused that not a soul was there. Customer Service was NO help, told me to drive to Salem, MA which is an hour commute from me. Asked for management for further assistance on Uhauls customer service line and was told there was no management, they had left for the day...at 1:00PM so all they could do was cancel it. So now I am stuck with no trailer, no answer or solution for getting my couch thats an hour and a half away, and 28min on the phone sitting on hold that I'll never get back. Her mother brought it in and told them she wanted them to fix any issues as she is pregnant with our child and wanted to ensure the vehicles safety. On 7/27/25, while we were driving we heard what sounded like rock hitting the bottom of the car over and over as we drove up a hill. When going down the back side of the hill, we hit the brakes to slow down only to have the car not slow at all. Luckily, we were on a slower road at this time and were able to roll to a stop on a hill and put the vehicle in park. Upon inspecting the car, we saw that the rear passenger caliper was dangling down and that the piston had shot out. I am grateful that we are alive as we had just gotten off of the freeway a few minutes before this happened. We had to tie up the caliper to be towed, and are currently having pep boys fix our car and replacing the caliper and brake pads, which had just been replaced a month ago. I was told it's a tough job and no one could help us for at least 5-6 days out. We brought the car in and the owner Sean took us in and told us they'd have the vehicle done ASAP and call when it was ready. Then while waiting to leave an elderly gentleman came in to get service and was a bit stressed about getting the car done so he could take his wife to an appointment....Sean the owner gave the gentleman assurance that his car would be ready with plenty of time to make his appointment. This is a very large repair shop and appears to be well set up. A few hours later Stacy called that our car was ready. We got there to pick our car and was blown away by the very Extremely reasonable cost. I even questioned it! I couldn't be any happier with the both service and cost. Once I frequented this shop more the more the issues came. went to change my exhaust manifold and going to this shop has been the worst mistake I've made. Spend around $260 to get the new gasket and to install $260 is a generous amount for this repair. I got my car back with no gasket and half of my bolts switched out to old rusted bolts basically got switched out for old car parts. The younger guy tells me he changed my gasket initially I couldnt here the noise of broken gasket but after the second time I started my car the sound was back not sure if he just glued the gasket together or what. But that has been the worst job anyone has ever done even after paying $260 he denied me when I went back to get it fixed with out charge couldn't even get a refund for being robbed for my parts. I explained to Dee what we and AAA thought the problem may be (a bad alternator or serpentine belt) and Dee said they would take a look and have it repaired today. He gave me an estimate over the phone and had the car repaired in a few hours at the exact price quoted. It turns out it was a bad alternator, after all. I am so grateful for Dee and his shop for taking my daughter's car in last minute and ensuring she'd have a working vehicle for her first day of senior year of college tomorrow morning.
