Located in the Frenchay area of Bristol/South Gloucestershire, this large hospital is situated in the grounds of a Georgian mansion, Frenchay Park. It was originally built as a TB hospital in 1921, but, in 1931, had been extended by building 5 more structures. There are plans to downsize this location, but local people have formed a protest group to keep it open as it currently stands, instead of moving parts to Southmead Hospital.
As someone who lives near this hospital, and has had to use the emergency facilities, I support keeping Frenchay Hospital as it is now. It's close to the motorways and much easier to get to than Southmead Hospital if you life in this part of Bristol.
I received excellent service in my one visit there, and the staff were lovely. They kept me at ease during a trying time and the facilities were surprisingly good. I can't comment on the parking facilities due to arriving via an ambulence. Plus, I can't comment on the food quality due to not staying overnight. read more
