An iconic sight in Seattle / Fremont district. It's one of the must see's and do's while in Seattle and its vicinity. It's made of concrete by local artists in the 1990's and a fixture in the tourist sphere for many years.
After hanging out in Akili beach, I didn't know what else to see in Seattle, so a friend of mine recommended the Fremont Troll. It was easy to get there, although you are basically in residential areas. Best bet would be to go during the day, so you don't infringe on local resident's right to parking on the street. The parking situation was tight as it was, but I managed to find a space. Just didn't stay there for too long, otherwise ticketing or towing would ensue. To ensure that you have a fun time visiting the Fremont Troll, best thing to do is to go during lunch time, just to get unobstructed views of the Troll and not have anyone in your photos or selfies. The history of the troll is pretty neat, derived from the story tale "Three Billy goats gruff" and the troll who lived under the bridge. The Fremont troll was designed by local artists who wanted to revitalize the area, that was previously wrought with nefarious activities. The entire experience took me at most 20 minutes, trying to get a good viewing spot for my photo opportunities and a glimpse into how great art happens. I enjoyed myself here to see this magnificent sculpture troll clutching a VW beetle with California license plates.
The Fremont Troll is located under the George Washington memorial bridge in the Fremont district of Seattle, Washington at N 36th Street and Troll Avenue. The troll itself was a masterpiece that stood tall and looked at you with an agitated expense that would probably scare you if you let it. As aforementioned before, the parking here is street parking and Free, although, it's quite limited and you definitely need to come during the day. There is no admission fee to see the Fremont troll, so that's also a big plus. Only your time and energy to swing by here will be enough to suffice. No cash here, so do yourself a favor an come marvel at this sculpture and see how amazing it is.
For myself, the Fremont troll was a nice escape from the downtown landscape of Seattle. It was in a nice suburban area, where anyone and everyone who wanted to see the troll could do so. Just be mindful of the local residents here and not infringe on their space. It's great that they have the Fremont troll here and is one of Seattle's best kept secrets and top rated attraction. Make time to come here and you will not be disappointed. I mean, how could you not turn down free? I didn't. ;)
