I accidentally parked in a lot owned by this company. I had actually stayed in my car for over 20 minutes talking to a friend while the person who was in charge of the lot was in a building literally less then 30 feet away. He mentioned there were cameras all around and since there were no cars in the lot, I was the only one he could see. At no point in time did he come out and mention to me that if I parked there I would get my tired booted with a vehicle immobilizer device. I literally left my car for less then 2 minutes to ask if it was OK to park in the lot and came right back out to move it when they told me no. The door way I went to was two doors down from the lot maybe 100 feet at most. I came back and here's this guys putting the device on my tire. He literally waited till I left the car and ran out and put it on. I told him I was unemployed and had come to go to Mid Hudson Protective Services for a job interview and that I couldn't afford any extra expenses. He put me on the phone to someone who said she had 5 children and needed to pay her bills too. The guy felt bad so instead of making me pay $25.00 cash, he made me pay $10.00, which tells me this money was just going into his pocket. All this tells me is that the owner, Robert Jankovics endorses this behavior. I paid it and immediately moved my car. After my job interview I went into the Friendly Insurance Agency DBA Robert Jankovics Ins office and wonder what world did I just travel into. The place was a mess. This person behind the wall asked if she could help and I explained to her what happened and all she could say was she was only an agent and couldn't help me. I asked if there was someone I could speak to about what happened and the phones started to ring and once again all she could say was she was an agent and if she didn't answer the phone she could lose her job. So I was a little perplexed as to what to do and upon leaving I made a comment about if this is an insurance company and this was their ethics, I wouldn't do business with them. And behind another wall I hear this woman screaming on top of her lungs for me to get the hell out of their office. So tell me, is this the type of company you would trust you home/car/health, etc insurance with? Again if this behavior is acceptable to the owner, what do you think they are doing with your insurance.
