I was looking around for a place where I could walk in on a Wednesday morning to get locs maintenance and styled (I think I saw in the website that Locs N Cutz take walk-ins). It was so refreshing to go through the doors and be greeted with a smile. I told the stylist at the front what I wanted done and she pointed me to Ms. Kim. Ms. Kim was working on someone else, but also greeted me warmly. She said that she could see me when she was done with the gentleman. In addition to how the stylists/barbers welcomed me, the shop was bright and clean (I saw them wiping down everything when they were finished with one person), and they were positive and engaging. Now, I did have a small hiccup. I had ideas of how I wanted my locs styled, but I wasn't completely sure. Also, I haven't had my hair retwisted and styled professionally since starting them four years ago (I just do it myself, but I wanted something nicer than what I do for an approaching engagement), so being in a shop is pretty new to me. There was some miscommunication between Ms. Kim and me about how to style it, so I only had the maintenance. I was disappointed when I left the shop, but I still tipped because I had a good experience and my hair looked nice. Surprisingly, I got compliments throughout the day, every day for the first week after Ms. Kim did my hair. This made me less upset and later on, I tried playing around with different styles. I'd go back to see her, but just be more certain about a style if I want one.
