BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! This is a detailed account of our experience in under an hour!!!!! It's quite long but worth the read. Where do I begin? I thought I found a good barber a while ago. He cut my son's hair the way I asked and the price was right. But I noticed things here and there that wasn't quite right. He shaped my baby with a razor which left cuts for a few days. My son complained that he didn't like him, that he was rough. But I thought this was normal. My son didn't want to get his hair cut anymore but I insisted. I tried a few barbers but kept going back to this guy. Then he fell of the face of the earth. He was never in the shop. He showed up on the days he said he was off. Finally, I had enough. I called and his number was disconnected. Frustration and desperation set in. I took to Yelp for help. After extensive research, I found Eric. After reading the reviews, he may be the one. For starters, it's by appointment only and has one chair. This was a plus because barber shops can be a bit much for a 10 years old ears. I left a message and before I could turn around, I received a response. Eric had a few slots left for the day. I arrived 30 minutes early to check out the surroundings and to locate his suite. He had a client in the chair so I left to kill time. I came back about 5 minutes before appointment time and he acknowledged us by name. His client was still in the chair but he finishing up. He called us in and got the formalities out of the way. My son was not sold and was sad. In his mind, he didn't want to be there, this is going to hurt, can we just go home...please. Eric asked what was wrong and he said he didn't want to talk about it. Eric continued to talk to my son to make him feel comfortable. I received a call and stepped out. I could hear some of the conversation like what is your favorite subject in school. Eric gave him a few math problems to solve. I tuned out at this point because I felt and probably looked like a stalker. LOL When I returned, my son was smiling, laughing and talking. This was a different kid. Keep in mind, he never experienced kindness in the chair. I had concerns before I came and Eric addressed them in detailed. My son was happy with his cut. FINALLY!!!!!!!! I was happy with his cut. So happy that I asked for a shape up, in the back only. His next appointment hadn't arrived yet so I said why not. I recently cut all my hair off. My hair was in the middle of my back and thinning in certain areas. I wanted a fresh start. Eric didn't see what I was talking about. I think he was being nice. LOL I'll take it. He mentioned it could be a lack of protein and recommended a few things. All in all, it was a nice conversation. As we were leaving, I asked my son about his experience. He said it was the best time ever. Mr. Eric didn't hurt me and he talked to me. He was funny too. I didn't believe for a second he was 10 years old mommy. LOL The next morning, no cuts or red marks. I was tired of spending all day doing my hair so I was ready for "the big chop". My brother who is a barber in Long Beach told me to find a barber that takes appointments because you'll have a better experience and get the look you're going for. I searched Google for "barbers by appointment in Maryland", and found Eric. I read the Yelp reviews, started following him on Instagram so I could check out his work. Everything that his clients wrote in their reviews about him were on point. He is the ultimate professional! I thought going to the barbershop would be a little intimidating, but he made me feel comfortable. Eric has been cutting my hair since I moved to the DMV area in 2012 and I haven't regretted it once! I am very impressed with his professionalism, and his art. I love that I can make an appointment electronically and when I show up, he's there ready to get started. He's a very talented barber and the best barber experience I've had since I started wearing my hair short. There are many barbers to choose from in the DMV. But not many of them utilize appointment schedules and will have clients waiting for hours to get in their chair. Not Mr. Erick though.
