We stopped by the grocery store to pick up baking supplies for cornbread, rhubarb jam, and butternut squash. Most products sold in the store are packed in bulk. It is such a wonderful experience to be amongst the Amish. Please be respectful.

Their prices are WAYUNDER what you would expect for such stellar food and if you know me you know I LOVE LOCAL :-) and they carry grass fed beef and eggs and cheese and chicken and sausages and bratwurst and sour cream and yogurt and pumpkins and....for a little hometown grocery this place HAS IT!!!!! I also tried some baklava and Basbousa and I've decided it's not my go to but prefer it warmed up in the air fryer when I'm eating it. The fresh bakery items when you first walk in were tempting so I tried the meat and cheese filled triangle bread (not sure exact name) and they were tasty. The olive assortment was amazing in the back. I ended up with the mixed spicy olives and we both enjoyed snacking on them over the weekend. I ordered mix grilled platter to go (Shish kebab, Shish Tawook, with special rice, babaganouj, pickles, onions, garlic, or tahini sauce) I really liked the chicken and found the beef pretty bland. I would try the chicken wrap next time. The fresh pita to take home will be on my list next time.

The store is clean, organized, and has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. Fareway Washington has 10 different varieties of Brew Pub, Hy Vee has 4 simple plain pizzas. Fareway has chicken bacon ranch and Buffalo Chicken, Hy Vee has pepperoni and mushrooms. Maybe it's because Hy Vee got burned trying to sell the cardboard Roma pizzas, but to even use the Brew Pub cooler to sell other pizza is a bit silly. Invest in Brew Pub and quit half assing it.

On January 26, 2019, I ordered flowers and a food gift basket to be delivered to my parents (who are both 87), who were unable to get out of the house due to the severe cold temperatures and snow. Rita promptly got the order together and within 1 1/2 she had it delivered to my parents. The flowers were beautiful and the food basket was terrific. Although my husband and I live in Nevada, when we frequently go to visit the folks, we always show the Washington HyVee.
