The facility layout is different than a traditional gym since the space is separated into two rooms and the equipment is divided. It can be challenging to navigate if you've never been there and do not have an instructor guiding you. There is no AC in the main gym so it has gotten quite warm in the summer on a few occasions but nothing unbearable. I would recommend group classes to find the instructor you like before purchasing one on one personal training sessions. With any highly trained professional, good service comes at a price so be aware this gym will be more expensive than some of the other studios in the area who provide comparable services. Staff are very friendly and truly passionate about what they do, so while the training facility may not be brand new or recently renovated, it has various types of equipment not commonly found at a traditional gym and these instructors know how to use it and push people to the limit to see results. Common areas like reception, lockers and bathrooms are renovated and clean. The gym is well maintained even if you do find the occasional pebble or some dirt on the floor.

It kind of "gameifies" fitness by having you look up at a screen attached to a heart monitor to see your heart rate and calories burned. There's an element of competition against yourself, and beating previous records for "splat points" (minutes spent in the orange zone). As a 90s kid, I like that it has a vaguely rave-like atmosphere, which it possibly borrowed from certain boutique spin classes. I really appreciate that it's coach-led because I wouldn't be able to motivate myself to work out with this intensity without someone a cheerleader offering instructions and encouragement. I figured out pretty quickly which coaches I vibed with, and went out of my way to choose their classes. I typically burned just over 500 calories per class, which fit really well with my fitness goals. Everyone here is super fit, which is a little intimidating, but speaks to the effectiveness of Orange Theory. I didn't quite feel like I fit in here though, and after a few months ended up deciding to just going back to reviewing pasta restaurants instead. I might have stayed on with OT Fitness longer if the classes had worked better with my schedule.

The second class I asked for some advice from the ladies working there for one of the moves. They told me not to bother. I asked why? They said I should be in shape first. Great! Why am I there??? I am not that over weight and I just had my third child like 8 months ago. So if your not already in tip top shape and don't need an exercise program then this place is for you! If your in need of a little help then run away from this place! They will treat you like garbage and shame you in any way they see fit. My girlfriend who is on top top shape told the manager she was being rude and she walked away mumbling "I am not the fat one". WTF!?!?! Oh and my friend is not white so I think this was the real reason for the white privileged north van trailer trash to belittle us and not care and walk away insulting us. It was pretty obvious.

This review is for the fitness center only…read more But it's a very nice one. Not being one for megagyms, I come here. It's got all the essentials you'd expect to find anywhere, (no kettle bells though so crossfitters stay away!) and doesn't get too crowded. However like all gyms it has overly buff workout - enthusiasts who tend to "camp" on the equipment. So if you can, go during the day when it's a bit quieter. they also offer personal training and physiotherapy sessions, and your north van recreation membership is good at all the other community centre's in North Vancouver.
