During my first few visits I have been disappointed with Freedom Cycle. Their selection of accessories (other than gear) is rather poor, they do not seem to respond to emails, staff seem fairly uninterested in customers, preferring to chat with each other, etc. They do have a good selection of new motorcycles in stock (Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha) and also a few used ones. (In addition to motorcycles they also carry ATVs and snowmobiles.) But their customer service so far has been rather poor. The problem is that the other motorcycle stores in the HRM also seem to be less than stellar. So far I am happiest with the one on Windmill Road. read more

I've had my bikes repaired here a couple times, mostly for emergency repairs when my usual shop was booked up. The service is good, but they are quite pricey. They are a "dealer" so you kind of expect them to have a slightly higher price than an indi repair shop, but they were quite a bit more. Retail floor has a great selection of brands of new motorcycles (Yamaha, Kawasaki & KTM) and a good selection of pre owns that you can see on their web site. You can find snowmobiles and ATVs as well. They have some great helmets and apparel off to the side of the show room. Quite a few after market parts as well for most models. read more

I have been a customer of Freedom cycles for awhile now and have been very happy with my dealing with them. One has to consider that most staff at MC dealers are chosen for there knowledge of the ride and not so much on there customer service skills. I bought my motorcycle at freedom cycle, A yamaha Stryker, new. Had problems with it and had to have service with them. I had to argue with them to fix the issue when the bike was only a year old and i had a 3 year service package. The issue was finally fixed, only with my complaining about it. Lately and finally I had my bike in for inspection and tire change. A week and a half later i still dont have my bike and dont know when they will be done. Apparently they cant keep staff or some other lame excuse. I wont be back. read more

I came in with a vintage fully restored ground up restored 81 Gold Wing. all I was looking for was an inspection; what I got was a nightmare. When I got the bike back the trunk needed to be repainted because they had scratched the trunk right down to the fiberglass, so much for my $2,500 paint job; then on top of that they left the bike outside in the rain, now my $2,000 in chrome work is starting to spot. What I went through even with the inspection was beyond annoyance; the mechanics there do not follow the instructions in the DOT inspection manual, they do what they want. From what I can tell the mechanics run the show not the Service Manager. I will never let those guys touch anything of mine ever again. EVER!!! I would really caution anybody who has work done there to check over your bike carefully that it is safe to drive. The impression I was left with is that they really don't care about motorcycles, or their owners. read more

Not a bad place for products, and parts dept is very friendly and helpful. However, don't ever buy gear here - they make it a nightmare to return it. I had a pair of defective boots and had to go back 3 times to finally tell them i wasn't leaving unless they returned them. I wore them twice and the sole came right off, but twice they sent me home b/c the manager wasn't there, and finally the manager was there and wanted me to go home again until he could contact the company to make sure that they would take the boots back. I said I didn't care - I wanted my $ back. He called the company, then, and said "okay, you can get a refund" and was insincere when he thanked me for my business!? Also, they don't seem to want to put their bikes together - they're in boxes so you can't sit on a particular model. Each time they say they'll put it together it seems to take them 3 times as long as what they've estimated. What are they doing all winter there??? Finally, you can't reach a salesperson if you call them, and if you leave a message, they don't call back. read more

I have only purchased a jacket and gloves here so far but the staff were really helpful and ordered 2 different jackets in for me to try on (because they didn't have my size for either on hand). It took maybe a week (or less) to bring in these items and I was happy that no deposit was required because I wasn't 100% sure about purchasing a jacket without trying the proper size first. I have only been to freedom cycle once and I will never return. As a new rider I bought an older bike from a friend who garunteed me it would pass safety inspection. I went to freedom cycle and they took the bike in the shop to do the inspection, not even 5 minutes later the mechanic comes out and tells me a bunch of stuff needs to be replaced before it could be safetied and would cost me in the thousands. He told me the chain needed to be replaced which was only out on a year ago and that the fork seals needed to be done as well which were done a year and a half ago. I went to another shop to get a second opinion and they gave me the safety sticker with no problems. I don't like any business that operates on such ethics to try and rip off someone who is new to biking. I will never return. read more

These guys totally helped us out on our way from Boston to Cape Breton. One of our riders broke a brake lever in a minor tip over and they took us in and got us fixed and back on the road in no time. Nice people and super helpful!!! read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Freedom Cycle, and I would never recommend them to others. My first visit, I went ignored for a while. When I finally got someones attention, they were very unengaged. They didn't really want to sell me on the bike, they just wanted to sell the bike....big difference. I found one member of their sales staff to be very manipulative and unprofessional. An example - The salesman promised to call me back over a $500.00 matter, and never bothered calling me back. Very disrespectful. Their finance guy clearly had a script memorized, creating a really ridiculous atmosphere. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I'm not out to get anyone, I also shop at Procycle and had a much more pleasant experience. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and made a family member feel really welcome and included. I'd suggest you check out Procycle or some of the other local shops, your best bet is to avoid Freddomcycle. read more

Worst customer service i have ever received since i started riding and unreasonable prices. I will never return here and anyone reading this message should find somewhere else to get service. The employees never help you when you are on their sales floor. When you ask them questions regarding merchandise they act in a condescending manner. You feel like you are interrupting because the employees spend all of their time talking to each other behind the desk instead of acting like real employees and working the floor. I went in one day looking for an oil filter torque wrench bit, the employee behind the desk tried to convince me to not purchase it and use a hammer and screwdriver instead. I insisted on getting the bit saying i would rather do it correctly instead of hammering a screw driver through my filter to twist it off.. he said they didn't have any. I walked to the service desk and asked for one, he pulled it out and sold it to me no problem. After getting called I went to pick up my bike from them after getting an emergency repair. The person i talked to, seemed to be a manager from one of the offices there, said he would have to get someone else to do it because it was far back in the garage, so i waited... and waited... After an hour i was annoyed and went to get my bike, walked into the garage and there it was, first in the line on the very inside of the door. Went back inside and asked again, the person i talked to previously, and was told rather irately that i had to wait more until someone brings it out. I explained it was in the front, he told me to pay and go take it.... Seems very unorganized since i was the only customer there.... Foolishly i gave them another shot when i needed my bike towed this year, it took them four days to pick it up and, unlike the other review i read, i lived literally down the street from them near Dunbrack and Lacewood Dr. When i got my bike back from them they charged me nearly $200 for the tow+service+parts. They replaced a spark plug that cost $5 on the part receipt and claimed that was my issue. The plug died not a week later, after taking it elsewhere i had a related electrical issue diagnosed and resolved for less money and my bike has been running fine since. There is one nice mechanic that works service there, wiry build and dark hair, that seems on the ball and i never had issues when i dealt with him. The rest of the employees there aren't useful and the customer service is a joke, avoid. read more

Buddy of mine got his rear tire changed at Freedom Cycle. He has a Ducati and he went to Pro Cycle to sell his bike. Pro Cycle service guy tells him the rear tire securing nut is loose. (He could loosen it with his fingers.) and also tells him he could have died if that came off. Then we go to Freedom cycle to complain about the situation, the guys at Freedom says "It didn't come off and its secure now."(Pro Cycle tightened it before my buddy left) and also says "Nothing we can do for you now." How is it possible for them to do MVI(done at the same time as the tire) and give him a pass? It seems to me they don't care for rider's safety. Terrible service. Go to Pro Cycle in Dartmouth if at all possible. read more

I have had a very poor experience with freedom cycle. I am a new rider and don't really have the funds for a brand new bike right now, so I purchased a pre-owned motorcycle from them, an older model Honda, which by all reviews I read and a lot of praise by the sales associates, should have been a great bike. within a month of purchasing it, I started having engine trouble and I called them to pick it up from Dartmouth at my apt. First they said they couldn't pick it up for a week because their regular Dartmouth guy was out and for some reason, no one else had any way of driving the trailer to Dartmouth and back? Then after the got it, i would call every week or so to see how it was going, "we've run this test and that test but we still don't know what's causing it" week after week. After I think it was three or four weeks at this point I went in to talk to them, turns out they were only working on it in their spare time because they didn't know it was for a customer. Then finally just over two months goes by (July and August, so the entirety of the best riding season) and I get a call saying they know what the problem is and they just need to wait on the parts. By the time I get the bike back I had been waiting almost three months, and was still charged quite a bit of money (even with the "help" they gave me on the cost because I waited so long). I feel like I have been robbed of both my summer riding and the charge of the repairs because they sold me a bike with parts that were obviously worn down almost to the breaking point, it just took someone to ride it a bit more than a few test drives now and then to finish it. I will never be going back to Freedom Cycle again and don't recommend anyone to do so either, I would sooner travel a bit to find a decent dealership who actually cares about customer service when I get a new bike, and will likely find a shop that seems to know what their doing next time I need service. read more

I won't go back. I took my 4 wheeler in to look over and give me pricing on what needed to be repaired before a big trip I am taking. Booked the appointment 1 month out. Dropped the bike off before they opened on the day. Waited 2 days and I had not heard from them so I called, said they would be back to me by the end of that day. Waited 3 more days, still had not heard from them so I went in. They had changed the oil and wrote down a list of parts that were needed but that was it. No apology. No, Sorry for wasting your time or not doing anything on your bike for a week other than the 1/2 hour. Unconvinced they could repair my bike in time to send me road worthy I took the bike and went to Halifax Motor Sports on Prospect road who had half of the parts needed on their shelf. They also discovered a badly worn front transfer case bearing that Freedom Cycle had not noticed after having my bike for a week. Bike is now being fixed up at Prospect road and dealing only items I have ordered from Dieppe NB dealer who say "they ship to Halifax all the time and yes they have heard similar stories"... read more

Had work done at Freedom Cycle in Truro. I put it in too get fork seals done and an MVI. Took the Truro shop over a week to do it then when I got it back my speedometer was broke and the front was "springy". Took it back and complained and got no satisfaction. Rode over to Celidh Honda in New Glasgow. Not only were the fork seals done improperly ( 485 ml of fork oiled in the left fork 285 ml in the right and wrong weight oil). They forget to tighter the lower fork brace. They had broken off the gear on my speedometer so I had to purchase a new speedometer drive. Fork seals were redone again, properly. Steering head bearings were shot ( missed during MVI). The staff were very discourteous and condescending when I pointed out there mistakes and did nothing to compensate me for their many mistakes. I had a friend who was going to buy a new Vulcan there and after my service horror story ( with documentation to prove it) she will be going elsewhere. read more
