Once you get off the elevators you're greeted with a little gift shop that also has snacks and alcoholic beverages. You can stay inside and take in the view or go outside. I was surprised that there really wasn't more robust netting and you can definitely drop your phone from the top so be careful. There wasn't a ton to do up there so I would say a longer visit would be 30 min max unless you partake in the snacks and beverages.

Only cool thing I got to learn from this experience was hearing about where JFK was shot and then heading over to the location where the X is painted marking his passing.

His shiny metal body caught the sunlight, and there was something both futuristic and kind about the way he stood there--one foot forward, a smile on his face, and a little bird perched on his hand like they were old friends. It didn't feel like just a sculpture. It felt like a moment--like he was part of the city, watching over it, maybe even cheering it on. Kids were climbing on the smaller birds at his feet, couples taking selfies, a guy playing guitar on the corner nearby. All of it somehow felt right around him, like he belonged there and always had.

The locomotive transformed into a robot, rising from the ground where three birds stood. There are three different sculptures, which can be viewed as three different parts of the sculpture. 1.Awakening-displays traveling man head emerging from the ground, and it's surrounded by the 3 birds. 2.Waiting on the train-Traveling man is seating on the ground with a guitar, smiling. 3.Walking tall-38ft tall walking man with a bird on his wrist. He is walking to the Deep Ellum train station. Deep Ellum neighborhood developed around the railroad, so there is a deep connection between these two. Easy to stop by and take photo. Pretty cool.

Wow this place is surreal!!! The life size bronze sculptures of the cattle drive consists of 49…read morelonghorn cattle and 3 cowboys commemorating the historic Shawnee Trail drives. As you stand by them, you can imagine yourself in that moment, reliving the sounds and movement of the cattle. Cattle drives were a common sight throughout Texas and therefore very much part of its history. This is a great place for photos and I even saw a family of ducks going into the water. As I was visiting I saw a few kids climbing onto the cattle. Not sure if that was allowed but there were no signs around that says otherwise. I did read that some of the sculptures do get taken away to be fixed. Overall, it's a must visit. Where else can you see 49 life size sculptures of cattle. Definitely a must see, when in Dallas.

All of this is close to the book depository, where Oswald reportedly fired the shot that ended Kennedy's life and presidency. Not a lot of fanfare, but one can't fathom the gravity of this spot, where US, and maybe world, history, was inextricably altered.

Open space - in downtown Dallas? Believe it…read more Dealey Plaza has a history going all the way back to the founding of this city. There are signs telling about the original trading post on this site. Because it was designated parkland at the beginning, it was not redeveloped as a skyscraper or a freeway, making it an open space in downtown Dallas. It's also one one of the most recognized parks in the country. Not because it's distinctive; it's not. But that day which continues to live in infamy . . . 22 November 1963 . . . President Kennedy was riding in a convertible with his wife, top down, while the crowds cheered . . . suddenly, a shot rang out . . . Dealey Plaza is the park behind the convertible in the Zapruder film. X marks the spot on Elm Street where the fatal bullet hit his skull. A solemn spot. The park is not all about Jack Kennedy, though. When I visited, there was a sign advertising movies in the park. So I'd have to think that Dealey Plaza has other community events too. The east end also has places to sit under mature trees, which is nice on sweltering summers in North Texas. Pretty sculpture. Again, not an unusual park. But it serves an important purpose in the area, has lots of museums nearby, and is itself historically significant.

Think: a little tech-forward, a little artsy, and surprisingly chill. Food enthusiasts will appreciate The Exchange, a large food hall featuring 13 eateries and 2 bars at last count. It's a standout if you're hungry, with lots of options--whether you're in the mood for sushi, burgers, mediterranean, tacos, or just a drink and some people-watching. It's clean, organized, and doesn't feel overwhelming, even when busy. There's a big outdoor plaza (aka "The District") that often hosts events, live music, fitness classes, and vendor pop-ups. I've seen folks doing Yoga, Karaoke Happy Hours, or watching outdoor movies...very cool stuff! It's worth checking the schedule if you want to catch something extra. This is also the headquarters of AT&T, so don't be surprised if you cross paths with John Stankey, the Chairman and CEO of AT&T, he works just upstairs LOL! Pro Tips: -Grab food inside, then snag a spot outside if the weather's nice. -If you're into photography, the 104-foot-tall Media Wall and the mesmerizing 30-foot-tall Globe sculpture make great backdrops. -Parking downtown can be hit or miss, so keep that in mind. I like that they have security guards at the entrances to keep the place clean and not over ran by the unhoused. So you feel safe and it's a clean fun family environment. Not far from our hotel, we came upon this plaza area where JFK met his demise. It is a place that brings folks together. Spans for a few blocks and several monuments and installations along the way. Fountain place is…read moreanother great spot here in the Big D to walk around, cool down, take in some nature, and escape our brick, concrete, lights, traffic, Orange cone overload we experience everyday. Yes, in 2018 our DFW Metroplex is still growing and expanding, it strengths our economy and brings opportunities for many. Which is not horrible. But how lovely is it to have a quiet and serene place that's refreshing in nature and only a few minutes to get to. Located on the Northeast corner of Ross & Field Street. There are payable street meters on Ross or free 15 minute parking in the empty Fastsigns lot across the street. Grab your camera, maybe a Sammie & frozen mocha drink and sit down on one of Fountain Places benches and chill. They even have a handicap ramp now for those in a wheelchair, so everyone can enjoy a bit of relaxing Zen. This is probably my 3rd visit over the past 5 years since I found this place. Half of the fountain area is currently under construction, so I will be back when it's all completed. But there is still plenty to see and enjoy. Do yourself a favor, step into the Fountain Place and hear the soothing sounds of water. With modest bubbling spouts to numerous waterfalls, there is a calming effect that this peaceful spot excudes. And with the temperature dropping a good 10 degrees as the big trees shade piercing summer heat, it only helps to bring down the existing heat index. It's kinda a romantic place too. Bring your sweetie for a walk around, holding hands, maybe a kiss or two. Oh my.
