Riverwalk
Zeb K.

We had the best time with Michael who lead our group through the history, culture and architecture. It was the winter riverwalk (even though it's Spring) and it was delightful. I highly recommend this activity for any age. We had a 9 and 15 year old who had a blast!

SO much fun info about these iconic buildings!

Took a tour of the Riverfront with Bryan. Fantastic tour. I have previously taken an architecture tour by boat so wasn't sure how much would overlap. Turns out-- next to nothing! Bryan had such interesting stories, information, and advice. Such a great use of time-- learned so much-- really enjoyable. Would not hesitate to recommend you take this tour!

My wife and I attended the Lincoln Park Gangster tour led by Mitch. Highly recommend this. I learned a lot and it was a very entertaining look into a very historic neighborhood. This is a fantastic tour that is well worth your time

My husband and I did the gangster and blues tour with Mitch it was amazing!!! He was so knowledgeable a d entertaining. I learned so much in the time we were with him and am so happy that we picked this event. I cannot wait to go again. It was a surprise date for my husband. We are both Chicago natives, well, my husband is originally from California but not lived here. We had a blast.

An untitled sculpture by Picasso, but not really by Picasso. Take the tour to find out more.

I took the Loop and Millennium Park Tour with Aram on a recent trip to Chicago and really enjoyed it. Aram is a terrific guide and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot! I highly recommend this tour to any visitor to Chicago!

I can not recommend this company Enough! I had the pleasure of taking 2 tours with them. The first was with Larry on Monday 8/3 at 2pm. The Gold Coast & Lincoln park tour. I will say there was a mix up with this tour as I received a confirmation that told me to be there at 9:30 am, so I contacted and asked why I should be there at 9:30 when my tour was at 2. They made sure that I knew to be there at 1:50. I even received a call from Mike and he made sure I'd found my location - I showed up at the meeting spot about 5 minutes before the tour guide. There were 25 people supposed to be on the tour, but only 2 of us showed up. We waited 15 minutes, our guide checked inside the hotel, inside the coffee shop and when 2:15 rolled around, we took off. It appears that Lucielle F may have missed us, as it was myself, a gentleman from England and Larry. Larry was awesome, he showed us all over the Gold Coast and the various neighborhoods. He pointed out prominent homes and was very patient with me as I paused about every 50 feet to take photos - I have a huge thing for awesome doors. When we got to the Lincoln park area, he took us through the walk way, pointed out the area where the big trees used to be and explained why they had been removed, Then he showed us the pond which was thriving with life. The fish! The Ducks! And the ZOO!!!! I didn't even know there was such thing as a free public zoo! And it's so very well maintained. We had a great walk and talk. My 2nd experience was just as good. Michael did the Chicago Riverfront tour the next morning at 10 am. We were given the ins/outs of the Chicago skyline from both sides of the river. I loved learning about the gigantic middle finger to the city during prohibition. About the Jewelry building and why the Wrigley building maintains looking clean, and how it has the illusion of looking taller than it is. This guy was full of so much knowledge! Both guides were personable, friendly and ultra knowledgable. I really enjoyed both tours greatly and hope that the next time I'm in a city they'll also have these tours. Thanks Larry & Michael!

Our tour of Chicago architecture was leAd by Sean Grosshans. Sean provides a wonderful, light hearted, and insightful tour of the Chicago downtown area. He has a keen way to describe the wonders of historical architecture and the majestic modern skyscrapers. The Free Tours by Foot are easy walking. Stress free and a perfect way to see the city. Also, our guide Sean was funny and respectful. Thanks to him and Go big Red

My wife did this tour a couple years ago and highly recommended it, but I wasn't especially interested because I had also gone to school here and figured I knew enough about Hyde Park already. However, she insisted that it would be worth our while and so I agreed to climb on the bus. And it was the absolutely right decision, because the tour was excellent. In fact, it wasn't just a tour of Hyde Park. It included the surrounding neighborhoods of Washington Park, Kenwood, Jackson Park, and Woodlawn. Since this was a UChicago sponsored event much of the information related to the University's investment and involvement in the area. Our tour guide and founder of Chicago Detours, Amanda, is herself a graduate of UChicago and thus she had some additional insight into the relationship with the community. Though the 75-minute tour felt a little slow-going at times, there was much to learn about the vibrant but sometimes troubled history of the area. Amanda has tremendous knowledge and the excursion was both fascinating and entertaining. I can imagine that Chicago Detours would have equally interesting tours of other neighborhoods in this diverse city.

People in Amsterdam will also ask if you have done a canal boat tour - and you have to do these when you visit these cities. Our docent volunteer guide, Steve, was excellent. He was very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the city's riverside buildings and its history. The boat staff was also hardworking and ready to help with any issues, from getting a drink at the boat's downstairs bar to handing out covers when the rain hit us. For what we paid, the 1.5 hour tour was more than worth it. I recommend sitting at the top towards the back, as you don't have to crane your neck as much when he points out places of interest. This was a truly wonderful experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Not a must see or do attraction but a great day filler activity as you explore the city. Loved the wealth of information they offer as it's valuable to understand Chicagos importance from the ground up! I thought it would be more about highlighting the amazing architectural buildings around the city but nothing like that. It's was more about the environmental impact the city has and the hurdles when designing buildings around town. The staff were friendly at check in and provided great service overall as they were kind and helpful. Small center that you may explore at your own pace and may or may not be worth the admission price. But scoring free tickets it allowed us to be selective in our day or day plans to include the activity to pay it a visit!

Our counselors took us on a fun side quest to observe Chicago's sky line from the south side of Chicago's perspective. Our counselors, Matt and Eden were exceptional!! Chicago Favorites Food & Walking Tour…read more Bottom Line Up Front: Tour: 5 Stars Food: 3.5 Stars Value: 3.5 Stars First of all, the tour was amazing thanks to our tour guide, Braeden. He was super passionate about the city and the food and was a wealth of knowledge on both topics. He also was very charismatic and when he shared stories of Chicago and the food, time flew by. Reflecting on the tour afterwards, my girlfriend and I remembered so many different things we learned because he was so good at keeping things interesting. In terms of the food, we hit the core Chicago staples of deep-dish pizza, roast beef sandwiches, and Chicago-style hotdogs. This was supplemented by a very small bag of popcorn and a small fudge bar. Now I've been on 20+ food tours and for a 3.5 hour tour costing $85, I'm used to 5-6 full food stops with 1-2 small bites compared to the 3 full food stops and 2 small bites, so that fell short. The tour also had an excessively large group with 14 people while many food tours are capped at 10 guests. This led to a few stops selected solely to accomodate a large group that had no significance to being authentically Chicago or foodie-driven like eating the Chicago-style hotdog at the touristy Millenium Hall (3.5 stars on Yelp). If you want to balance both the food and the tour of the city, then I'd recommend this tour for you. However, if you're only in it for the food, there might be better options out there.
