We used this bus system while on a Girl Scout Trip. While I can't speak for the price I will say the driver was very friendly and kind to all of the girls. He (Brian) made the trip more enjoyable and fun with his safe driving and humor. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Over the weekend I stayed at the Omni downtown to attend the 500. Awesome race, btw. When I booked, I was told there was a shuttle service, the Free Enterprise Inc. that was $24 per person, round trip, that picked up at the Hampton Inn, just 4 blocks away (the purple line.) Sounded totally worth it. No waiting in line for hours to park a mile away, and someone to actually drop us directly in front of the Speedway - can't be beat, right? WRONG! Getting to the Speedways was a breeze. We walked up, there was a line of empty buses just waiting to take race enthusiasts to the Speedway. Great! I was so happy! Things were going perfectly. The seats were comfy, the AC was kicking. This really seemed the way to go. The shuttles have their own parking lot, so we didn't have to wait in insane traffic to get to the Speedway. Another plus. Now onto the bad....first we were dropped at the exact opposite end of the Speedway from where our seats were. Not a big deal. Totally understandable, the Speedway is huge and the shuttle could not possibly drop everyone in their sections. But we were basically running so we could catch the fly-over. Again, not the shuttle service's fault, just a bad way to begin our trip. Fantastic race. 100th anniversary of the Indy 500. Totally exciting race - andwow, what a finish! Just as the race ended, we got up and started moving towards the shuttles at big city speed - you know - walking as if we had some place to be. The trouble was, we had to walk half the track, but this time we were outside the Speedway in the street, which added distance, It was 90 degrees and the sun was beating down like mad. We got to the parking lot where our shuttle dropped us off, finally, after weaving through crowds of slow walkers, and there are hundreds of people clustered - no organization, no staff helping direct (there were several different lines that took people to different parts of town). I really have no idea how we found our purple line, but from time we entered it, to the time we actually got on a bus - it was 2 hours. 2 hours of chaos and misery. No shade, no staff giving updates, no water being handed out. And there were literally hundreds of people behind us, just in the purple line. Don't get me wrong - I expected to wait, but not like this. This was completely unacceptable. No regard for the patrons whatsoever. People were actually being taken away in ambulances due to medical emergencies. Elderly people and children were waiting in this mess. My man and I are very fit, active people, and even we were suffering, so it was heartbreaking to see the children with bright red cheeks and the elderly sitting in the gravel lot, asking to be assisted both down and up b/c they were incapable of dong it on their own. For a moment, I contemplated a fake vaso-vagal episode, so we could get the f' out of there in an air conditioned ambulance. But the hospital was not the way I wanted to end my day....In the track we got almost no sun, by the time we boarded our shuttle, we were both sunburnt, severely. I mean charred. It was a grueling, uncomfortable, ridiculous experience. Buses were sitting, running empty. Why not start loading the hot people so they can sit and AC and shade to cool off? I mean seriously. Moronic. Instead, sit there with your diesel fumes shocking us in the already disgusting 90 degree air. I seriously was on the verge of vom for a while. When we finally got on a bus - there was no AC running, but at the very least we were out if the sun. We had such an amazing day, even our 5 hour drive from STL to Indy was fun. This was bad enough to completely ruin anyone's experience. Thankfully, after a shower, a decent meal, and a couple manhattans, we were able to be thankful for the amazing parts of the day, and try to put the shuttle fiasco out of our minds for the remainder fo the evening. I will be calling management tomorrow to demand a refund. You don't run a business that way, with no organization and no respect or thought for your customers. This was easily the worst customer service experience of my life. Easily. I bet my man that by next year, this company has changed their business and domain names, because there was not a single satisfied customer. If I could I would report them to the BBB, but since we actually received the service we purchased, I don't think my complaint will be filed. It would have been preferable to sit in our air conditioned car, wasting gas, in a parking lot for hours, attempting to get on to the road to sit again in ridiculous traffic to the downtown area. We decided for our next Indy 500 adventure, we're hiring a car service to drop us as close to our section as possible, and pick us up after in the exact place so we can sit in the AC and re-hydrate. I would have gladly dropped several hundred to escape that misery. read more

Where do I start. They oversell the parking they tell us sorry you have to park two blocks away at another business, and they say we don't own that lot but you shouldn't get towed. Then we wait in line for over an hour just to board a bus to head to the track. After a crazy long route we finally get the the track. After the race they heard us like cattle with no organization at all even letting people on that didn't even purchase at ticket for the service. Then sitting on the shuttle in the same parking lot they picked us up in for about 45 minutes with no movement. Finally after about 1:30 we finally get to the place where they picked us up from. This was a total waste of $100 for 3 of us to park and ride, will never do this again and will never recommend this service to anyone. read more

I was a part of the Indianapolis 500 unorganized disaster. What I saw was just scary. People sun burned, tired, yelling at officers, impatient and not a smile on anyone's faces. It was a sad site to see after such an amazing race. The money you got for overselling these tickets could of been used for line crews, water distribution, signs, mobile apps or just a simple line megaphone leader to reassure paying customers were going to be taken care of. $30 for the ride there. $10 to park. $15 for Uber ride back to my car. You get two stars for a decent trip to the race. Better luck next year! read more

The Free Enterprise charter service is top-notch, and the drivers were super friendly as well. You can tell this has been a family run business for decades, you just get that nice neighbor vibe from their staff when you meet them. From the booking process to saying farewell, you won't find a better company to take you from point A to point B. Taking a luxury coach instead of an old bus to get where you're going, is a great move in my book and doesn't cost as much as I thought it would for corporate travel. This company has been around for a long time and that usually says a lot about a business. The fact that these idiots sold out of tickets 4 hours before the indy 500 due to their poor planning was bad enough, but then their people gave snarky responses about buying tickets the night before. We have been riding this shuttle for 25 years and showed up 1.5 hours earlier than ever before and never had a mess even close to this bad. Your lack of planning and customer service SUCKS. If it were possible to give zero stars or less, I would. Personally I will never use your shuttle again, I am sure I can find much cheaper ways to be abused like that in the future. read more

While it was a great deal to just pay $25 bucks to get good transportation to the Speedway for the 500 and avoid walking three miles in crazy heat, the trip back was a nightmare. It was the first time my future father-in-law and I went to the race together, his first time, my third. He is over 60 and had heart surgery a few years ago so the last thing I wanted was for him to get heat stroke. When we were dropped off we were told to find any bus that wasn't the blue line to get back downtown. Across from the track, there were busses that were clearly marked with each color. We hoofed it to the black line which was going back to IUPI. As we attempted to board, the man said that these busses were only for the "elite" passengers who had paid $15 more than us. No where anywhere was anyone holding up a sign that said elite passengers only. Plus, he gave my fiance crap because he bought a round trip ticket but was going back and had his online reciept instead of a physical ticket. He argued with me for at least five minutes then ordered me to go across the road and tramp across a gravel parking lot, where we nearly were hit by several busses on the one day that the 500 had the hottest weather ever. Once in line, we got free water and got right on the bus, but not a single person took our tickets and the bus stopped at every single stop downtown so it took us an hour to get back to our car. What a crock of bull. How greedy do you have to be to put people's lives in jeapardy on the hottest day in race history just to make a few extra bucks. Sadly, I will probably use them again because they're the only company that does race shuttles, but now I'll know better to not expect any fantastic customer service. read more

I/m an event planner who hired Free Enterprise to take my group from our hotel to the Final Four in Indianapolis in their large corporate charter bus. The bus was in very good condition, the driver was very prompt and courteous. He could've been a bit more knowledgable about getting out of the stadium traffic, but not too much could be done at an event like that, traffic is a part of life. I was hesitant to hire them at first, but was very pleased with the outcome. read more

Like several other racing fans, my husband and 2 friends thought the shuttle system would be the best way to get into the Indy 500. We have attended several other Indy 500 races - the last one was a shuttle several years ago that was just the city bus system and it worked fine. This experience was - as stated by others - AWFUL. The designated Pink Spot was in a trucking company, Sodrel's Lot. We were told we could park there for $10. When we arrived at 9:30 am only to find out from the rudest of rude staff event employee on a golf cart that all the parking was taken and that we would just have to find a place to park. We should've just driven to the track but we weaseled our way into the neighborhood and parked on a side street. Then we proceeded to wait for an HOUR in line to get on a bus. (Seriously, you know how many tickets you sold so you would've know you didn't have enough parking spots ..) When we departed the bus at the track we were told that the buses to take us back would be in this gravel lot across from the Main Gate. Similar to others, now it was 11 am and we had to power walk our way across the entire track to our seats in the North West Vista area. Race was great - no complaints there. The Holman / George family could shell out a few more bucks to have some more trash cans and trash pick up during the game, would be nice - place looks like a dump with all that trash and that was before the race started. But that's another review ... The departure hell .... We recognized that there was going to be a ton of fans going back via the shuttle system and would've been fine had the system actually been thought out and organized. So, we like a massive amount of other folks hike in the sweltering heat back to the gravel lot only to see a huge crowd of people. No one knew were 'the line is' as I know we would've all gotten into a formal line if they company had bothered to set up one. Between folks looking for the Blue / Airport Line and everyone asking each other where to go it was chaos. Absolutely not enough staff to handle and direct the fans to the buses. Absolutely no organization on how to handle several thousand people from a major event Absolutely not enough BUSES to take the several thousand of people out of the major event. Absolutely not enough EMT folks around to help the ones that were dropping like flies. Someone should call the folks at Disney and ask them how they do it because was awful. Elderly folks wilting in the heat, the dreaded drunkards pushing their way into the crowd, everyone incredibly hot and frustrated. Nice. Oh great moment when a state policeman tried to wade into the crowd and establish a line. REALLY? The race ended at 3:30 - it took us 2 HOURS to just get on the bus. We arrived back at the Sodrel parking lot (of yes, no porta-potties there either) at 6:30 pm. Great Race - will do Indy again but will never try the shuttle system again. Our friends will most likely never come back to a race at Indy. Now there's a great customer experience. Someone at Indy HQ should take note. read more

If I could give them zero stars I totally would do that. We just used the shuttle service for the first and definitely last time. We bought shuttle tickets for the Indy 500. The lines were long. They misled many people who paid $30 dollars or more just to encounter a terrible experience. They oversold the shuttle tickets. We overheard one of your staff members making that exact comment. A cab or Uber ride would have cost probably as much but with much better results. After waiting for more than an hour at the airport, our bus driver wasn't even aware to get on the bus/public transportation route until a police officer stopped him and told him to get on that route. After the race, we were treated like a heard of cattle. It was terribly organized, actually it was not organized at all. We finally got on a bus post race but ended up downtown instead of the airport. We were told by one of their "staff" that the shuttles stopped at every location and to just get on the bus. They even checked our blue tickets designated for the blue route to the airport. I just spent another $30 for an Uber from downtown to Plainfield. I will make sure to leave detailed reviews on every social media platform possible. I know that it was the Indy 500, however this corrupt corporation known as The Free Enterprise System, Inc. took advantage of the event and the people. They oversold tickets and it was terribly organized. We would have spent the same amount of money on Uber and would have had a better experience. I will NEVER EVER use this shuttle service again. read more

It's seems like such a great idea and if organized better, could be the best solution to moving so many people in and out of the Indy 500. We were one of the lucky ones and arrived by 7:20 am to the parking lot. We waited a little over an hour to get on a bus. By the time we left, the line was wrapped through each aisle of the parking lot. And the traffic for people to get into the lot was backed up for miles. After the race was over, we walked as fast as we could to the return lot. The line was several blocks long on both sides. No signs to indicate if you were in the right line, you couldn't get close enough to talk to one of the organizers, so you just waited, for hours, while they loaded ONE bus at a time (with 6-7 buses waiting). They did eventually start loading two buses at a time to which the crowd cheered. Honestly, we should have driven to the raceway early and parked nearby. The traffic was moving much better than the shuttle and when the bus dropped us off at 8:45 am, there was still plenty of parking with a walk (but no worse than standing in line for hours). And price wise likely would have been similar (we had 4 people). Suggestions? They should reserve parking spots when you reserve a spot on the bus. The lot we were in took people in that didn't have bus reservations. The lot was full before we even got on a bus. And with traffic backed up for miles trying to get into the lot, I can only imagine the language coming out of their mouths when they realized they didn't have a parking spot to ride the shuttle that they already paid for. It would have been more efficient to load more buses at a time as well and if that means getting more shuttle buses, so be it. They are making plenty of money at $30-45 dollars a head. For the return trip, my suggestions would be to invest in some basic signs, provide more people to walk the lines to make sure people were in the correct line (one worker was yelling at people in line telling them if they had a blue ticket, they were in the wrong line...but yet there was no way for them to know), load 3-4 buses at a time, tell people while loading to fill from the back of the bus to make loading more efficient, and FILL the bus. Our bus had 10 seats available and even though the driver told them we weren't full, they sent us anyways. That's ridiculous when you have another bus that is jammed like sardines. I will say that by the time we got to the front of the line, they were doing a better job, but we had waited 2 hours to get to this point and they've had 5 years or more of practice to get this right. read more
