I had a painful knee with the sensation of the knee popping out of place. I was seen by an Orthopedic specialist who found nothing on xrays and recommended a trial Physical Therapy. After being referred to Physical Therapy at the hospital, I jumped through loop hole after loop hole with no start date in sight(remember the knee feels like it's popping out if place). After looking on Yelp, I found Free Body Physical Therapy. Marc had a start date within a week. He has a great bedside manner. The knee stopped "popping out of place" within 2 days of starting therapy. After 6 weeks of therapy was pretty much pain free. I am super happy I found Marc! I came to him with years of chronic shoulder/neck pain and a few years long of post injury pain in the lower back and hip. I originally found Marc back in 2021 for a few issues related to my hip and shoulder to get back into working condition for a fitness test. Within a few months I was 100% back to normal. More recently, I developed a wrist problem where it would hurt to bend my hand back or have any weight placed against it in the same position. Through the course of a few exercises and manual therapy that was more than intense, I was able to put weight on the wrist along with mobility. Just look at the before and after photo! Prior to surgery and PT, I had been unable to bend my big toe for 3+ years, making it impossible to run or even walk correctly. Since working with Marc, I've seen a HUGE improvement. I've regained a significant amount of flexibility in my big toe, am starting to run again, and am quickly regaining my calf muscle that disappeared due to adjusting my gait with every step for over 3 years. Dr Marc is nothing short of a miracle worker. For about 6-7 months, I was dealing with the most painful frozen shoulder (coupled with a rotator cuff issue) & was starting to think this limited range of motion was my new normal. It was incredibly depressing since I lead a very active lifestyle & hated having to cut back on my favorite activities ( tennis, paddle tennis & I love my kettle bell workouts) but even day to day life things were a challenge for me, like getting dressed, putting away groceries, even lifting my arm to wash or dry my hair was so uncomfortable & challenging. After a handful of appointments with two other therapists which resulted in no meaningful change, a work colleague & fellow tennis player suggested I try Marc at Free Body PT. Marc is a phenomenal PT with great attention to detail. I have been to two locations of a certain large chain twice before after car accidents that gave me whiplash (and I had decent experiences), and my experience with Marc and Free Body blew them out of the water. I have some complicated chronic pain issues (chronic migraines, occipital neuralgia, and chronic neck pain). I have been to 4 neurologists and a pain medicine doctor. I've had bilateral occipital cryo-neural ablation at least 4-5 times, and my pain med doctor brought up implanting a neural stimulator in my spine and the back of my head. Needless to say, I wanted to explore EVERY option prior to that. Marc was great at getting me in quickly to do an evaluation to see what the presenting issues were and the proposed course of action. He shared that in IL, you can now get 10 sessions of PT without a doctor script; I had no idea and would have been in much sooner if I had known! He did a great job of working on and around my pain-related limitations. Unlike other chain PT locations, he completes the entire session one on one with the client, rather than handing them off to a PTA for the exercises to pack in more appoints. My issues were complicated, so it took a minute for me to start to feel the changes, but I really really felt the results. The pain in my neck had been so bad I really could barely sleep and almost any position I was in (sitting, standing, lying down) would trigger pain. Last thoughts: the location was very convenient and they have onsite parking (!). The clinic is extremely clean and offers plenty of space and privacy (you don't have a whole audience while you try to get through the exercises. Marc is personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and a total professional. He is extremely reasonable with rates for any sessions that insurance would not cover. I cannot recommend Free Body more strongly if you are considering PT. read more

I came to Free Body after 3 months of strggle with an shoulder impingement. At the time I had 1 month left before going to a circus acrobatics training camp. Marc rolled up his sleeves and set up a treatment plan to address my shoulder mobility and stability. I've learned so much from him and within 3 weeks I could do handstand again without pain. I had my ACL and meniscus repaired in December. I was just looking for a place close to work and was lucky enough to meet Marc. His practice is small, but the benefit to that is a got a TON of 1 on 1 time. He knows my strengths and weaknesses and tailors my plan towards that. I didn't realize how unusual this was until my surgeon complimented me on how well I was recovering and asked me how PT was going. Marc immediately put me at ease (the scented oil humidifier helped too!) and made my appointments positive experiences, even when I was still in a lot of pain post op. I found Free Body PT after injuring my left shoulder while exercising. After talking to a specialist he recommended PT. I'm extraordinarily glad I found Marc and Marissa. I primarily worked with Marc due to schedules but occasionally saw Marissa and found both to be extremely helpful and attentive. The first session was longer than all the others and involved a lot of questions, trying different body movements to see what my current abilities were, and describing what caused pain. After that I saw Marc twice a week for a while then after a few months it went down to once every 2 weeks. The first half of most sessions involve Marc evaluating my progress, talking about any difficulties I had since last seeming them, and then massaging/loosening tight areas. The second half of the session will generally focus on showing Marc how the exercises he assigned last time are going, doing the exercises, and then him trying out new ones. He does a good job of listening to me and taking in the information & allowing it to affect the exercises he suggests. PT takes a while but I've seen the majority of my strength and flexibility return. Overall, excellent experience with the doctors themselves. And the scheduling process is very easy to do online or in-person. I'm continuing to see Marc as my PT continues and if I ever need more PT in the future I'll definitely go back to him. read more

I had horrible chronic neck pain, stiffness, and referring headaches for at least 2 years, with symptoms getting increasingly worse. Marc was extremely knowledgable, caring, friendly, fun, and genuine during my time of care! Marc is a great physical therapist. I am a swing dancer and tore my calf muscle at dance practice... Two days before leaving for a vacation to Greece with my mom. Two friends recommended Marc. I reached out and he fit me in last minute. He's helped me progress over the months and tonight I did an aerial (getting thrown into the air) at my dance practice!! Marc is very knowledgeable, will explain things thoroughly (what the exercise is working, how it's helping, what the goals are). He's also very non judgemental and patient. There were times I'd tell him I didn't do my exercises (for whatever good or bad reason I had) and instead of finger wagging and telling me to just do them, he said, "okay, then let's find exercises that are easier for you to get done so you'll do them." Earlier in 2020, I got a bad tear in my medial meniscus (as if 2020 couldn't get any worse!). This required me to get a meniscectomy knee surgery and I've been seeing Marc for multiple months twice a week to rehabilitate. I am almost fully recovered and I can honestly say that I wouldn't have been able to do it without Marc as my therapist. He and his team (Kenny rocks!) have created a warm and inviting atmosphere that I always look forward to coming too. I started going to Free Body because I was getting pretty stiff from sitting on my ass throughout quarantine. I was starting to feel like one with the couch and was fearing that one day I would be so immobile that I wouldn't be able to get off it again. I started going to a personal trainer but my lower back was constantly hurting when I tried to do any kind of exercise My first visit with Vanessa was awesome. I filled out a disability assessment before going and my score was pretty high. I remember feeling some anxiety that she might think I was lying. She did not. I felt very validated when explaining my concerns. I am alway paying attention to my body and how things feel. I know it pretty well so I am constantly telling her about whatever new sensations or concerns I have and she ALWAYS validates it. Because I felt so comfortable telling her about everything, she was able to pinpoint exact issues that I would have never thought of. I have been active my whole life and never had so many issues with heavy lifting or long walks so it was rough to hear that I basically allowed myself to get to a point where I'd lost a lot of endurance and mobility. And when I expressed this or tried to apply any other value statement to the situation, she was quick to remind me of the positive and that I'd actually come a long way. Marc is an excellent and knowledgable physical therapist. I am a RN and initially went to him for knee pain. From the very beginning of contacting Marc for a consultation to now, he is extremely responsive and attentive. After my initial consultation he mentioned that my knee pain is likely stemming from my back. He asked if I had low back pain and I had to think about this because it has been so chronic that sadly I have gotten "use to" the pain. He developed a program to really strength my core to help with my chronic back pain which would then help with my knee pain. Through our many sessions, he came to realize that my low back pain was the cause of my profession and improper lifting and transferring techniques. He took the time to show me best ways to lift, push and pull to protect my back. I was even scheduled to see him one day when all of a sudden I turned my head and had this shooting pain all the way down my left arm to my hand. I was unable to even look left without having this excoriating pain. When I went to see him, he performed techniques and had me do various exercises to help alleviate some of the pain. He even emailed me the next day to see how I was feeling. My low back pain is so much better. I do still have to see Marc time to time when my workload is really bad and I've been lifting too much and he is always able to squeeze me in. I would absolutely recommend Marc for physical therapy! I came to Free Body because I threw my back out and was have sciatic pain into my left foot from my lower back. The pain was so bad I could not even sit, drive to work, or even do daily house chores. At first I went to a chiropractor and quickly realized that was not helping any of my pain if anything it was making it worse. Then I decided to come see Marc at Free Body. He is great to work with and actually cares about helping you. Marc can perform adjustments, gives you specific exercises to do and helps set goals for each exercise. Marc is hands-down the BEST physical therapist I've ever been to! To paint a picture, I fractured my humerus about 4 years ago and required a plate/many screws. I went to physical therapy elsewhere right away to regain mobility, but for years after, I suffered from a painfully stiff neck, decreased muscle mass, and an inwardly rotated shoulder. I felt muscle pain that a normal 23 year old should not be feeling on a daily basis, to the point where that became my new normal. A friend at work eventually recommended Marc's services, and I thought why not give it a shot. I'd tried yoga, massages, etc and figured it would end the same - I'd feel relief for a day or two, then the stiffness and discomfort would return in a few days. Marc instantly proved me wrong. Even in the first couple sessions with Marc it felt like he knew exactly where my pain was and how to treat it. For years I had tried to explain my pain to massage therapists, physical therapists, etc. and they could never quite figure out where to begin. It seemed like Marc instantly had a plan, and it worked. Within weeks, the stiffness disappeared. I can now move my shoulder and neck in a way that used to cause me severe pain. My day-to-day quality of life has gotten sooo much better! I used to spend most of my day trying to ignore my pain, and now I barely even think about my shoulder. I'm still using Marc's services after five months, as he provides me with excellent exercises to workout my shoulder muscles. My experience with Free Body Physical Therapy was great! I have had chronic back pain for a while so I sought treatment at Free Body. Their telehealth system worked great and I was able to get treatment that helped reduce my pain while staying at home during the pandemic. They had a strong focus on reducing my pain through building strength which I enjoyed because I was able to learn how to properly do things like squat and deadlift which I can use to continue to build strength even after treatment has ended.
