I went in to get a used tire put on my car since one was bald, and i just need a replacement. They didn't even look at the size of the tires that were already on the car, very obviously, because when I left I felt the front of my car start to pull and jump. I then looked at the size that they put on there and it was smaller than the rest. They told me to call the next morning and they will help me. When I called the next morning, they ran me around trying to blame my car for already having problems when I brought it in, which this definitely was not happening before. They said that they don't have the correct size to put on there. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

We had a mishap (nail in tire) on a nice Saturday afternoon. A couple other nearby places basically outright rejected us when we asked if we could get a simple patch put on. Stopped into Fred's and they said no problem, we just will have to fit you in between appointments, if you don't mind waiting about an hour. They were quick, efficient, and did a great job. They have helped both my wife and me with our wheel and tire needs, and the best part is that they help us find solutions that perform great, come at reasonable prices, and treat us like family through it all. I wish I could give ZERO STARS...... BEWARE of BAD MECHANICS and AUTO REPAIR SHOPS: I took my car to "Fred's Tire and Service" to have them look at my car because I was told by someone that my car sounded odd. They look at it, and they say needed a new transfer case. The charge would be $3100. I called my warranty company and they wanted proof of my service repairs by a Certified Mechanic. Well, GUESS WHAT? The owner of Fred's tells me none of their mechanics are Certified. All of them are flunkies. My son Tom is Certified and he's only 23. Got a 2nd opinion from Bayport Transmission. Gordy there took apart my transfer case and said it's perfect, nothing wrong with it. He said "no charge'. I gave him $200 cash anyway for his time. Decided to get a 3rd opinion: Stillwater Motors looked at it this morning and said there was nothing wrong with my car but a weak battery (I have that under warranty) and a noisy alternator. I paid $100 for this diagnosis. My point: Don't go to "Fred's Tire" in Stillwater: they aren't qualified to do the work and are dishonest. Why would I have to pay $3100 for something that isn't even broken? read more

Stopped in here because my tire had gone completely flat on the way to a customers house. I drove to Holiday and filled up and drove straight to Fred's. They got my car in in a half hour... patched me up with no pressure to buy new tires even though mine were nearing bald. The two brothers (owners sons) and I joked around and they turned a shitty morning into not such an inconvenience. Highly recommend! read more

I have been here twice now. The first time I was here, it was not a great experience, but could have been worse. After yesterday's visit, I will never be back. A tech got in my car, realized it was a manual and did not know how to drive it so he had another tech drive it for him. I am okay with that. When my car was finally done, I see them drive it around the shop and who was driving it? The first tech that wasn't able to pull it into the shop. He walks into the lobby and does a fist pump and explains to everyone in the lobby that he just learned to drive a manual and was super pumped about it. I don't feel that learning how to drive a manual on a customers car is appropriate nor was his behavior of announcing driving a manual for the first time on a customers car appropriate. I have two other cars that both need new tires and it is a shame because I will never be able to feel confident handing the keys over to any of my cars to the staff at Fred's again. It is great that the kid learned how to drive a manual, however do it on a company car or a friends beater. Not a customers car. And act more concerned when the customer addresses it with the advisor. It was a pretty poor situation at hand. Cliff notes: avoid this place at all cost, especially if you have a manual and care about your car. The service advisor did not try and rectify the situation at the shop. Now that I have rated the shop poorly on Yelp and on Facebook, they have offered 100.00 to take the review down. That seems like a good business ethic! read more

The gentleman there was very friendly and I did not feel misled and anyway, give me lots of options and even show me prices online to show how competitive they are. Tom - The problem here is that you didn't review and actually READ my complaint! What are you even talking about? It's about BRAKES not the tires. My problem is that you quoted my wife BRAKES both rotors and pads for all 4 tires at one price and then, and even after she clearly gave you a do not exceed amount, an hour later you call her while she was volunteering at the shelter. She couldn't pick up the phone, so I called, and your team member gave us a quote that was almost $250 more than you quoted us originally. Your response is clearly deflection since in nowhere on this complaint DID WE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TIRES OR THE TIRE PRICE. We just mentioned we cancelled the tires! Since you "lost the original BRAKE quote" when I was talking to you conveniently upped the price $250 and now you cannot even understand your own customer's complaint?! I strongly suggest you re-read what I wrote and try not to deflect on the true issue which was a bait and switch! Don't care how you view it or spin it that is EXACTLY what happened here. Don't go to this place! Typical response. It's always the customer's fault, now deflection, or they don't have you in their system. If you are reading the original complaint, you will see where Tom is bringing up something that we are not even complaining about to deflect and justify his business practices. Again, this was the 2nd time I had been to Fred's and like I said originally, I had NO issue the first time around. I broke my left rim which ruined my front tire. My husband brought it to Freds Tire to get 2 new tires and a new rim. Instead of 2 new tires, they sold him 4 new tires and a used rim at at cost of $700.00, using my charge card with my name only without my explicit consent, saying I would get a $100.00 rebate and that the tires were guaranteed for 70,000 miles. That was at the end of November of 2021 and not only have I not received the $100.00 rebate after numerous calls to not only the rebate company but to Freds Tire as well over the next 4+ months, but now the 2 front tires are bald after only 4,000 miles. After following up with them last week and today, I was told there was nothing they could do and I would have to buy an additional 2 new tires. I am 65 years old and do not know much more about cars than adding the gas. I am now afraid to drive my vehicle for fear the tires will blow as you can see the threads on them. Then when I asked assistance simply asking how to post a review, I was told "no" and hung up on. I truly thought they were more reputable than that and am now at the point of tears. read more

My experience at Fred's was great. The waiting area is large with coffee, a TV and enough chairs, also very clean. When I wasn't prepared to stay the wait time my car needed they offered me a free loaner to drive around, which was great. (I live an hour away) Also, I went in thinking I knew what my car needed but they were able to explain to me exactly why it was doing what it was and offered a solution to each issue and without being pushy at all. The last time I was here Jerry (mechanic) was lovely and not only explained things, but took the extra time to ride in my car with me to see if he could get a feel for what the car was doing when it acts up. Great Customer service and great staff. I brought my car in for a custom exhaust and they know what they are doing. My vehicle sounds amazing they did such a great job for an affordable price in a timely manner. What's also great is the fact that they also give me a loaner vehicle, so if you wanted to drop the car off and head to work you can instead of waiting. Amazing job and great staff you can trust. I bought 2new tires for my SUV from here in October.2013 ,since than I've been back there twice because my low pressure light comes on 1st time fixed no problem second time charged me 30.00 because "I have no warranty"which I was never told n than they try n tell me it's not there tires on front there's our on the back like I'm some idiot don't know what tires I had replaced when I called to go over this with a manager but nope no one around so talked to some guy who was very disrespectful.I learned a tough and expensive lesson by going here now I have to replace tires again becuzzzz it keeps leaking.I wouldn't let these people change the tire on my 3year olds wagon .DONT go here plus took an hour and a half for them to fix valve stem it would of taken Discount Tire 10min very bad customer service. read more

I went to fred's tire.First they FORGOT to order my tires then let me sit around for forty min. before telling me. Then did a front end alignment messed that up ( did it better in my garage by eye then they did. And when I went back and compland they said we will call you NEVER DID. I will never do business with Fred's Tire again. They are such a dishonest business. We have had our truck in to them 4 times. Each time they fix something, then something else related to that item breaks. They say its just a coincidence. BULL!!! Finally, they told us that one of the items they had to fix was under warranty. Yeah, we didn't have to pay that time. That was six months ago. We still have the issue. Our truck runs very poorly. Today, they call and ask us to come in as they want to recheck the issue. They may have found a better solution to fix it. We are impressed that they would call. My husband brings the truck in. He waits, and waits and waits. About 30 minutes later someone finally looks at the truck. After being there for over 45 minutes, my husband finds out that the reason they called us in was that the warranty that covered our last repair was rejected and never paid to them. They just wanted to look at our truck to see if there was anything they could find that they could use to pressure the warranty company to pay them. They did not call for us --- they called for them but gave us an excuse so we would bring the truck in. Even after my husband found this out, they did not thank him for coming in. They did not thank him for spending over 45 min on a beautiful Saturday on an issue for them. They just said, "can't find anything wrong". Just wanted to make sure people knew the experience we had. Maybe it will prevent you from having a similar experience. Very disappointed in Stillwater. read more
