Fred is professional, personable and a just positive person. He knows his trade and knows it well. He was very accommodating with my lock-replacement job. Fred gave unbelievable service! I just came back from a business trip from Dallas left my keys in my car, called Fred he answered the phone and said he could be at my house right away & arrived about 15 minutes later. Fred didn't try and overcharge I get into my house, he said he'd have to drill the lock out with the new kwickset lock I had. My wife worked about 15min away, so instead of pushing me to drill out the lock, he drove me to get my spare keys at my wife's work and drive me back home! Now I don't know how normal this is for him to do, but I can say this was absolutely incredible and he has a life long customer and will recommend him to anyone!!!! read more

Fred did a great job repairing an old front door mortise lock which i didn't want to replace with a modern version. most locksmiths won't bother with old locks. Doesn't charge extra for coming to North Oakland, Rockridge, Temescal he also repaired a modern fire door lock and closing mechanism. all at very reasonable prices. he's a one man shop, so probably not suitable for rush jobs, but worth giving a call. 925.408.5073 read more

Fred just left my house and I couldn't be a more satisfied customer. I called him this morning after a not so pleasant dispute ended with a roomate moving out. He was en route to another job and we scheduled an appointment. He called me at the beginning of my appointment window to let me know that he was hung up at the other job and asked if we could push out the appointment. I'm glad that I was able to do so. He is very professional and does an excellent job, but at the same time he treated me like a person...not just a wad of money. I would reccomend him to anyone I know that needs a locksmith and will absolutely use him again if I ever need him. 5 stars. read more

We have used Fred's Lock 2 times now. He is so nice! His work is excellent. The first time was when we were in Clayton and needed to add a high deadbolt since my little son was a let's escape out the front door kind of kid. The second time was when we moved to Oakley and needed to re-key the whole place plus add a high deadbolt just to be on the safe side since we have another little one now. Fred has always been professional, efficient, and his prices are good. I always recommend people to his business. read more

I am a real estate broker and Fred has been my locksmith for about five years now. In the beginning he did all of our rekeys for our bank owned properties. He did some evictions for me as well. I love to tease Fred that he is the quickest lock pick on the planet. His good humor, business acumen and skill is unmatched. He is a good honorable man who will go out of his way to help you out. One time he didn't. It was his wife's birthday. It wasn't an emergency to we laughed and I reminded him "Happy wife, happy life". We laughed some more. He just helped me out again today. I screwed up and locked myself out of one of my listings. Us realtors won't tell you how often we really do this but I do it once a year. This was the first time I didn't have a plan B to get into the house. Fred was done with one job and heading to another. He detoured, picked the lock, I grabbed the keys off of the counter and it was done and done. Not only is he a skilled practitioner but he is a good man. read more

Thanks YELPERS this time you did good! I needed a patio key re-made due to my previous tenant who lost the original copies. Thank goodness I had a copy. While this type of key was not one of those "do not duplicate" kind, I knew from previous attempt to making a copy of it that it requires a good locksmith. Don't bother going to Lowe's or HD.. both were failure in recreating this key. My go-to locksmith location was apparently closed when I arrive one Saturday morning (what locksmith is close on Saturday???)---anyway...I went to Yelp and try to located one that would be close to where I was. Fred came to my rescue! Now when I first arrived to the biz address, I was a bit confused. I thought it was a store, but turns out Fred works out of his garage. .I called Fred to make sure I was in the right location. I was--BUT while "yelp" told he was open right now, Fred was actually out on call on another job. Not an issue, I made arrangement to drop off the key I need made and pickup at a later day. Tip: Make sure you call ahead to make sure he's at his place of work before you head that way or if you need a key made on the spot. Check out his hours, I took a photo of it so it might help you yelpers out there! read more

Thank you Fred for your expert locksmith services. I originally went to NOT ONE but TWO Nissan Dealers and they couldn't trace my valet key code from my VIN. Dealerships! No help from them! I called Bomacs in Walnut Creek.. the person that answered the phone was rude. He spoke to me as if I was clueless. I knew what I was talking about, but he kept interrupting me. I gave up and hung up. I called a couple of locksmiths in the area, but I chose Fred. He was the most friendly and the most professional. He was more than happy to listen to what I wanted specifically done. He made 2 keys for me.. One master blank which I had bought myself form the dealer, and one from him, a stock key.. He was done in no more than 10 minutes. He is very meticulous and technical. He made sure it was done accurately. He even explained to me the difference with the valet key and the master one. Again, thank you, Fred. Now, aside from being able to start the engine, I can lock/unlock my 300zx T-Tops, Glove Box and Trunk. You Lock (Rock)!!!! read more

Fred is awesome! I got him in this morning after our house was broken in to. Fred was able to swing by at short notice, quickly assess what needed to be done and accommodate any special requests I had. He was very sincere and wanted me to feel safe in my home again even going the extra mile to fix the gate on the side of our house on top of replacing and re-keying some locks! His prices were reasonable and he delivered a great service. I would recommend Fred's services with out reservation to anyone who needs their locks replaced or fixed! Thanks Fred!! read more

Fred is a very experienced locksmith and has worked to re-key 6 locks on my house today. He is a perfectionist and was able to get the locks switched out and to turn smoothly (even on older locks). If there is a little hitch or snag when turning the key to unlock the door, he will work to make it perfect and smooth. He is very diligent, competively priced and professional. His work van is pretty amazing too, reminds me of the Key Master in the movie The Matrix! He is also very nice and informative if you should wish to engage in conversation. Definitely has my recommendation. read more

Fred... this guy has Heart. My daughter called me somewhat panicked... she was Condo sitting and the front door key stopped working. Problem was she was outside in the cold with the owner's Golden Lab, and all of her things inside the locked Condo. I called multiple Locksmiths, in order of how they came up for me on Google. Fred answered and agreed to go help her on Saturday night at 8:30pm, undoubtedly changing his plans. 10 minutes after I talked with him, my Daughter calls embarrassed - "Dad, you won't believe it - I was at the wrong front door!". I call Fred immediately and caught him on his drive to her. I offered to pay for his time, and he said that would not be necessary. Awesome. The next time I need locksmith services, I will call Fred. read more

After foolishly losing my only key to my 2007 Ninja 650, and having no luck finding the the keycode i had to turn to yelp for help, not wanting to pay a arm and a leg for rekeying a bike lock(usually $$$$$) i started looking for local locksmith, after having no luck finding a place that opens after 5 or weekends i found Fred. After calling him with a quote, Fred showed up the next day and re-keyed my ignition lock from scratch, it was a pain in the ass job and fred tackled it with no problem, after a hour or so i had 2 sets of brand new keys, which worked better than the stock key ever did. Fred's great attitude, speedy service and reasonable price has earn my 5 stars, i would highly recommend Fred to anyone, the man certainly has the skills. read more

Fred was amazing! I called on a Sunday because my wife and locked ourselves out of our house. A couple of great things from there... 1. He answered after no one else would. 2. He was at our place in 5 minutes! 3. Was so affordable and understanding!! Fred is the man and if did not have to run to another appointment in SF we would have had him change our locks given his recommendation to make it easier to get inside should we be locked out again! Great service from Fred today. He arrived to my home on time. Fixed lock with a temporary cylinder. Went to Oakland to get new cylinder. Was back and finished job in early afternoon. Knowledgable and very nice guy. And price was very reasonable. This good service, after I had tried two other locksmiths who were not able to fix the problem. Both of whom charged more (or wanted to), just for house visit. I would recommend Fred to anyone with a need for an experienced and effective locksmith. I understand he also can fix car key problems, and larger industrial jobs. read more

I called Fred after looking at the reviews here on Yelp, and looking at his history as a locksmith and was very happy with the services he provided for us. We had a new keypad deadbolt that was too big for the existing hole in the door, and he came out within an hour of calling and had it swapped out within a very short period of time. Even showed us how it works so we didn't have to muddle through the directions. Very pleasant and easy to work with. Will definitely be calling him for anything else that comes up. read more

Fred just came out to our house in Brentwood to repair a front door lock assembly. As soon as he was done, my wife called to say, "Wow, you really know how to pick the right repair people!" She said his rate was extremely fair and he's a nice guy. We have lots of experience using home repair vendors. In fact, some of my relatives that own rental properties happened to be there while Fred was doing the repair job. He immediately won them over as new customers. Would not hesitate whatsoever to use him again or refer him to others. read more

Freddie is an outstanding service and price was reasonable. I was having issue with the door on my storage unit at my condo. the cause of the lock to be stuck was an improper door installation that was crooked and he redid the door to make the door shut properly. Now, the door is easier to unlock and lock. It was just $77.50 to repair the damage on the door. I had the door installed by the HOA few years ago and it was hard to unlock and lock the door and this summer I was not able to open the door because the lock was totally stuck could not go any further and the cause was the inconstancy door installation Thank you Freddie and I would repeat Freddie. He did not take long to do the door it was just like an hour or so. read more
