Laying claim to "world's best burger" you better be on your game. I only have one visit under my belt but Fred's might want to stake a claim on Burlington's best burger. World's best might just be a bit of a stretch. They seriously do have a very good burger at a reasonable price. The bar staff were very welcoming and engaging to chat with. The place is well decorated. My biggest negative and I've now noticed it in another review. We ordered fries and Cajun chips. (Go with the chips). They came out minutes after we ordered and a full 10 minutes before our burgers. My son ordered chicken nuggets & his fries came out with his chicken. Come on Fred's, if a person orders fries/chips with a burger you expect to get that with your meal not as an appetizer. Cute, very casual burger place bear the movie theatre in downtown Burlington. You order at the bar, they give you a number for your table, and they bring your food to you when it's ready. They have a variety of burgers in either 1/2 lb or quarter lb sizes. They have a few other items but they're known for their burgers and they sell their seasoning too. We used to love the food at Fred's. We stopped on Sunday afternoon. At Fred's, you seat yourself. There are menus at the table and "order sheets" for customers to complete. You take the slip of paper to the bar to place your order and pay. They give you a table number tent and deliver the food when complete. We ordered onion rings, salad, a 1/2 pound cheeseburger and a 1/4 pound mushroom swiss. I like that they've added an option for a quarter pound burger! The food was brought to our table promptly. Food was hot. Onion rings were just okay. They may have been a little overcooked because there didn't seem to be any onion in the ring. The burgers weren't the same. It was the first of many visits that left us very disappointed. We're not sure what changed. The burgers were both boring. Not sure if they changed their beef vendor, or what. Fred's gets an "F" for Fantastic. A "D" for Delicious. A "C" for Creative menu items. A "B" for Burgers. And an "A" for Atmosphere. We found this place by accident, simply by driving up and down the street since we were in town, and truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the service, and the food was absolutely delicious. This is a place that I wish was in Milwaukee so I can go more often. If you are venturing to Burlington, you have to stop off and grab a burger or any one of their appetizers. I would give 0 stars if I could. I don't see all the rage about this place at all! Worlds best burgers? Did you guys just make that up? Curious who gave you that title, because I can make a better burger at home. First of all I walk in and have no idea if I'm supposed to sit down or where to order, very confusing from the start. I also got our fries 15 minutes before we got our burgers. That's weird. I didn't order fries as an appetizer. I ordered a burger and my fiancé ordered a double burger. Now I know your menu says cooked to 'medium' unless specified but mine was still moo'ing. Medium shouldn't be bright pink on the inside. My fiancé's burger was drenched in so much grease that his bun was so soggy. There wasn't even silverware at the tables to cut these obnoxious burgers in half. They took my burger back to be recooked and they literally just used the same patty. Which is whatever I guess. But I didn't even want to hand my card over to pay for this. The fries were crap and so were your burgers so maybe change your slogan. Not to mention my fiancé's burger said it was 10.99$ but I watched you ring it in at 11.99$ why was that? Because on your website menu it says it's only an extra .50 for tomatoes and lettuce and the onion is free. Now if it's .50 separate for each maybe you should specify that on the menu. Not to mention when I got my burger back I didn't receive my onion, tomato or lettuce back. It wasn't even worth my breath to ask again. I got a receipt but it doesn't show prices for anything. I will drive out of my way from Lake Geneva for a good burger! It's only about a 15 minute drive and it's a very friendly bar and grill and they make the greasiest and scrumptious burgers at a reasonable price. It must be the seasonings they use because I saw a sign where they sell their seasoning, too. They also make their own hand cut curly fries and they make wedge cut fries and chips too, but I like the curly fries the best. You basically go up to the counter to order your food and drinks and they will bring the order to you and you also pay at the counter. The atmosphere is very friendly and I like how they support their local school and different athletic teams and they have the photos of various coaches and teams embedded on their tables. read more

I was visiting my Grand nieces and her kids (loud!!!), in the Burlington. While waiting for my ride home I walked into the Fred's. I had a burger, chili and a iced tea. Everything was very good and easy on the pocket book. I used the ladies before I left because it's a drive back to Sturtevant and I had a refill too. The ladies was clean and clean smelling. The next day my nephew and is wife took me to a burger place in Vernon Hills called Kuma's. He wanted to go to the mall and by the time we left I was hungry and it's a long drive up to the Sturtevant. They also know I like my burgers. Oh my!! The noise! What they pass off as music is a crime. Then there wasn't a burger under $15.00. They don't pass out menus and my nephew read the menu to me from his phone. The burgers here are available in half pound and quarter pound sizes. I probably should have only had a quarter pound sized burger but my half pound one was rather delicious and I ate the whole thing. I had the Fred burger and it was quite delicious. The handcut chips were the highlight of my meal. I really liked them a lot! The atmosphere of this Burlington burger restaurant is pretty good. When you come in you sit down, order at the front counter and then they deliver your food to your table. You pay before you leave. They probably have lots of great alcohol options but the soda pop is the standard Coca-cola products. It feels like a good local watering hole. Well, I wouldn't say "world famous" but noticeable. Burgers are above average but not gourmet. Nothing amazing regarding flavour but the hand cut fries and chips are very fun. The decor is Romo-esque and slightly rustic. Large and usually on the louder side. The bar had a good selection of craft beer both on tap and in the bottle and getting a mixed with top shelf is also possible. A good option in Burlington. read more

Someone told me these were the best burgers in Wisconsin. I dont know if that's true, but they're quite impressive. Ambiance is similar to a country bar. Wood paneling, neon signs, very retro. You order to go at the bar, and the bartender was very laid back and took a while to get to me (even though there werent a lot of patrons), but not unfriendly. Ordered a cup of potato soup while I waited on my to-go. It was homemade, bland, but it was clear the potatoes were very fresh. I asked for recommendations and was told I HAD to try the pub chips and cajun burger. The pub chips were average homemade potato chips. Again, I could tell the potatoes were fresh. The homemade french onion dip was great. I didnt notice anything cajun about the cajun burger. It tasted like a well seasoned, homemade hamburger. Most restaurant burgers dont taste homemade and those that do usually dont taste seasoned. Big win. My total came to $16 for all 3 items, with 20% tip. That's way cheaper than I am used to. I always love it when places make outlandish claims - for example, Sun Prairie WI claims to be the "Groundhog Capital of the World". Did the international groundhog council issue a ruling on this? Anyway, Fred's claims to have both "the world's best burger" and the "world's friendliest people". I'm not sure about the first one but I probably won't argue too much with the latter. I kind of expected Fred's to be a divey bar but it's really very nice inside and certainly someplace you wouldn't feel bad bringing the kids for lunch. They're huge on local sports with high school team photos everywhere and memorabilia from a certain NFL quarterback prominently displayed. The burgers are absolutely good - you can tell they're made fresh and by hand and they're served on a quality bun. Overall, it reminded me a lot of Night Owl on the South Side - not too greasy but very juicy. The fries on the other hand were an abomination - they're also handmade and spiral cut but they just weren't good - at all. Super greasy and not crispy and nothing I'd want again. If you don't like burgers, they've got other sandwiches and lots of deep fried snack options for you. The people are truly friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. I'd come back. I have always loved this place, and I don't think that'll ever change! Their food is always delicious. They remodeled a few years back so there's much more seating than there used to be. It's a clean establishment, a big parking lot considering the location right off a main street, and always has quick service. You seat yourself and there are menus and order tickets at the table. You write down your own order, go to the counter at the bar, and pay there and they'll bring the food right to your table. You don't have a waiter, but there's always plenty of employees around if you need anything. Their cheese fries are some of the best I have ever had. My go to is their breaded chicken sandwich and it never disappoints. All the burgers are amazing too. The one pictured is the nacho burger.
