Excellent burgers and the homemade potato chips are divine and unique. We always stop at Fred's when we're in the area. And then we proceeded down about a couple of blocks to Adrian's Frozen Custard. It's a great tradition for our family read more

I live in the Milwaukee area but I was passing through Burlington so I had to stop in and have a burger. The burgers are excellent, I'd say top 10 in Wisconsin. My only complaint is that the fries were a little bland, but may have just been an off-day for them. Love the memorabilia on the walls. read more

Fred's - Great vibes - Burgers Near Me - Burlington, Wisconsin

Destination: Burger I've been to Fred's a few times now. It's the kind of place you'd like to frequent more often, but it's so out of the way that it takes a special trip to get there. I was a few miles away from Fred's picking up some items, and had already grabbed dinner, but couldn't resist the pull to grab one of their burgers. This time was redemption as I just wasn't impressed on my last visit. I went with just the Horseradish burger with chedder this time along with lettuce, tomato and onion and no sides to keep things simple. The burger was done to perfection, the horsey sauce had a little kick and the toppings were all fresh. Service has always been great, order at the register and enjoy a drink at the bar while waiting for your meal. read more

Very good 1/2 pound cheeseburger. I ordered mine with lettuce tomato onion and american cheese. We also got a bunch of different sides including the mozzarella sticks, cheese fries, chips, fried mushrooms. The mozzarella sticks were very good. The cheese fries were ok, but not great. All the other sides were mediocre. read more

The service is amazing and they make sure to treat you well! The food is amazing and the curly fries are the best fires in the area. Overall experience 5 stars read more

Pretty delicious burgers. I can't wait to try all of the different burgers they have. The onion rings were crispy, and quite frankly some of the best I've had. Everyone in the restaurant was very nice, and doing their best to socially distance. However, the fried cheese curds were a bit salty for my taste (the sauce it came with was delightful) though it could just be a personal preference. The fries are so soggy, why are they this soggy? If it weren't for this, I would've given a higher score, but just rating this portion I would give it a 2. read more

Laying claim to "world's best burger" you better be on your game. I only have one visit under my belt but Fred's might want to stake a claim on Burlington's best burger. World's best might just be a bit of a stretch. They seriously do have a very good burger at a reasonable price. The bar staff were very welcoming and engaging to chat with. The place is well decorated. My biggest negative and I've now noticed it in another review. We ordered fries and Cajun chips. (Go with the chips). They came out minutes after we ordered and a full 10 minutes before our burgers. My son ordered chicken nuggets & his fries came out with his chicken. Come on Fred's, if a person orders fries/chips with a burger you expect to get that with your meal not as an appetizer. I would definitely return but would be specific about fries coming with the burger. Good burger - yes. World's best - comes up a little short. read more

Fred's - Burgers Near Me - Burlington, Wisconsin

Cute, very casual burger place bear the movie theatre in downtown Burlington. You order at the bar, they give you a number for your table, and they bring your food to you when it's ready. They have a variety of burgers in either 1/2 lb or quarter lb sizes. They have a few other items but they're known for their burgers and they sell their seasoning too. They have really good house made chips or regular fries and we loved the sweet potato fries. Less than $20 for two meals and the burgers were tasty. read more

Always consistent, always excellent - love this place! We have enjoyed their food forever - try the pot roast sandwich!!!

The food is decent. I wouldn't really recommend it but it's okay. The staff is pretty nice

We used to love the food at Fred's. We stopped on Sunday afternoon. At Fred's, you seat yourself. There are menus at the table and "order sheets" for customers to complete. You take the slip of paper to the bar to place your order and pay. They give you a table number tent and deliver the food when complete. We ordered onion rings, salad, a 1/2 pound cheeseburger and a 1/4 pound mushroom swiss. I like that they've added an option for a quarter pound burger! The food was brought to our table promptly. Food was hot. Onion rings were just okay. They may have been a little overcooked because there didn't seem to be any onion in the ring. The burgers weren't the same. It was the first of many visits that left us very disappointed. We're not sure what changed. The burgers were both boring. Not sure if they changed their beef vendor, or what. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and welcoming. read more

Great Service with food and drinks!! Great relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely go back soon!!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I don't see all the rage about this place at all! Worlds best burgers? Did you guys just make that up? Curious who gave you that title, because I can make a better burger at home. First of all I walk in and have no idea if I'm supposed to sit down or where to order, very confusing from the start. I also got our fries 15 minutes before we got our burgers. That's weird. I didn't order fries as an appetizer. I ordered a burger and my fiancé ordered a double burger. Now I know your menu says cooked to 'medium' unless specified but mine was still moo'ing. Medium shouldn't be bright pink on the inside. My fiancé's burger was drenched in so much grease that his bun was so soggy. There wasn't even silverware at the tables to cut these obnoxious burgers in half. They took my burger back to be recooked and they literally just used the same patty. Which is whatever I guess. But I didn't even want to hand my card over to pay for this. The fries were crap and so were your burgers so maybe change your slogan. Not to mention my fiancé's burger said it was 10.99$ but I watched you ring it in at 11.99$ why was that? Because on your website menu it says it's only an extra .50 for tomatoes and lettuce and the onion is free. Now if it's .50 separate for each maybe you should specify that on the menu. Not to mention when I got my burger back I didn't receive my onion, tomato or lettuce back. It wasn't even worth my breath to ask again. I got a receipt but it doesn't show prices for anything. One of those dingy Apple printers everyone seems to use now. I will never come back and I will slaughter your restaurants name everywhere I can. read more

Nice friendly home town kind of place. Good food, friendly staff. A lot of regulars and a lot if new comers. Has a bar like atmosphere on one end and restaurant on the other. Order at the bar, and grab a table. Reasonable prices and generous portions. The burgers are "World Famous", they say. read more

Good burgers, nice and busy but still had fast service! Great prices. The chips and French onion dip were my favorite. I'd also recommend the chocolate chip cookies on the way out! read more

I will drive out of my way from Lake Geneva for a good burger! It's only about a 15 minute drive and it's a very friendly bar and grill and they make the greasiest and scrumptious burgers at a reasonable price. It must be the seasonings they use because I saw a sign where they sell their seasoning, too. They also make their own hand cut curly fries and they make wedge cut fries and chips too, but I like the curly fries the best. You basically go up to the counter to order your food and drinks and they will bring the order to you and you also pay at the counter. The atmosphere is very friendly and I like how they support their local school and different athletic teams and they have the photos of various coaches and teams embedded on their tables. read more

Fred's is the best ... the food is always good and it's always consistent... that's what you want in a place like this ... thank you so much Fred's for putting up with us ... read more

Fred's is a tasty place for a yummy homemade burger. Definitely a place to take the family.

I was visiting my Grand nieces and her kids (loud!!!), in the Burlington. While waiting for my ride home I walked into the Fred's. I had a burger, chili and a iced tea. Everything was very good and easy on the pocket book. I used the ladies before I left because it's a drive back to Sturtevant and I had a refill too. The ladies was clean and clean smelling. The next day my nephew and is wife took me to a burger place in Vernon Hills called Kuma's. He wanted to go to the mall and by the time we left I was hungry and it's a long drive up to the Sturtevant. They also know I like my burgers. Oh my!! The noise! What they pass off as music is a crime. Then there wasn't a burger under $15.00. They don't pass out menus and my nephew read the menu to me from his phone. Go to Fred's and stay away from the Kuma's and the mall. I give Fed's 5 stars and everything in Vernon Hills 1 star. read more

It's awesome, nothing else to say. We go out of our way to dine here. Great people, great food

Very cool spot, food was delicious... just an interesting way of having the orders get placed. You don't have a waiter you have to go up to the bar to order your food. We found out after sitting for about 10 min without anyone coming to help us. But now we know that for next time, will definitely go back for burger night again! read more

Had the Fred burger with potatoes wedges here. Burger was cooked perfectly but something was added to meat like soy. To me this added an aftertaste which I noticed. Potatoes wedges were great but for the price this order was very small compared to other restaurants. Overall food was fine but not what I expected for the price. Will go back just to try other options. It is a really friendly place. read more

Popped into town for one night. Enjoyed a great burger for take out. Was within walking distance from the hotel. Fried pickles were delicious. Only downside- online app doesn't allow you to add cheese and no condiments were in the bag so be sure to ask. read more

Not the Fred's it used to be. The food is not very good service is horrible and the older women behind the bar is rude. Don't be cheep hire a server writing your own order and then paying the cashier might of worked yrs ago but it's a huge failure now! read more

I came to Burlington specifically to eat here. Needless to say I was disappointed. It all started when I went to order. The lady at the bar who takes the orders was not friendly at all. That just started it off bad. The burger was good. The onion rings were oily. I really don't think I will make a special trip to come here again. read more

Exceptional burgers! Clean and the staff is very nice! We live in IL and look forward to taking a drive here for lunch. Check it out!!

The food did not have a whole lot of flavor but survive was ok.The desert was amazing thank you for y'all's service

The burgers here are available in half pound and quarter pound sizes. I probably should have only had a quarter pound sized burger but my half pound one was rather delicious and I ate the whole thing. I had the Fred burger and it was quite delicious. The handcut chips were the highlight of my meal. I really liked them a lot! The atmosphere of this Burlington burger restaurant is pretty good. When you come in you sit down, order at the front counter and then they deliver your food to your table. You pay before you leave. They probably have lots of great alcohol options but the soda pop is the standard Coca-cola products. It feels like a good local watering hole. I'm not sure I'd call it the world's best burger but it was a pretty good place to visit. read more

Went here for the first time and was impressed! You go up to the counter and order. We sat at the bar so the waitress took our order there. Everyone was super friendly. Bloody Mary was spicy and too thick. Did not like it. French fries were amazing and burgers delicious. I got the bacon jam burger and I loved it ! Definitely will stop again. read more

Fred's - Bloody Mary - Burgers Near Me - Burlington, Wisconsin

We have been visiting Fred's for yeàrs. Burgers and their in-house made chips are always a great order by themselves. But they also offer many other sides and sandwiches, a daily soup or chili. They use a special seasoning on their burgers that is awesome. You can purchase it for home use, which we do with great success on our grilled burgers. I have always loved Wisconsin tavern burgers. And Fred's are àmong the very best. read more

We haven't been to Fred's in many years, so happy we decided to stop in today. Great burgers, I had the 1/4 pound hubby had 1/2 pound with cheese, order of cheese curds, and homemade chips. All was delish, finally had a good burger out. I ordered a bloody mary and hubby had tap beer. All the staff is friendly, work together, we will not wait so many years to return and prices were not bad. See you soon read more

Fred's is a simple tavern with dining experience. Their burgers are phenomenal, staff is friendly and I absolutely adore their Cajun style seasoned homemade chips. Definitely a great place for a simple meal at a economical cost. read more

This place used to be good. The last few years they have been going down in the dumps. Usually the problem has been the burgers are to salty. This time the burgers were small hockey pucks. We ordered the 1/4 pound patty melts. It was more like a grilled cheese with a small piece of dried up burger in the middle. The grilled onions were ok but small amount. I think we finally learned our lesson and won't return again. read more

I always love it when places make outlandish claims - for example, Sun Prairie WI claims to be the "Groundhog Capital of the World". Did the international groundhog council issue a ruling on this? Anyway, Fred's claims to have both "the world's best burger" and the "world's friendliest people". I'm not sure about the first one but I probably won't argue too much with the latter. I kind of expected Fred's to be a divey bar but it's really very nice inside and certainly someplace you wouldn't feel bad bringing the kids for lunch. They're huge on local sports with high school team photos everywhere and memorabilia from a certain NFL quarterback prominently displayed. The burgers are absolutely good - you can tell they're made fresh and by hand and they're served on a quality bun. Overall, it reminded me a lot of Night Owl on the South Side - not too greasy but very juicy. The fries on the other hand were an abomination - they're also handmade and spiral cut but they just weren't good - at all. Super greasy and not crispy and nothing I'd want again. If you don't like burgers, they've got other sandwiches and lots of deep fried snack options for you. The people are truly friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. I'd come back. Just for fun, here are some other bizzaro town slogans (these are for real, people!): Ashland Tops Wisconsin (ummm... no comment?) Belleville, WI - The UFO capital of the world (not Roswell then?) Cambridge, WI - The Umbrella City (bless your heart...) Pittsfield, WI - The Exact Geographical Center of the State (bet this one packs 'em in!) Waupun, WI - The Wild Goose Capital (not "we got a big jail"?) Who comes up with this stuff? read more

My husband and I both had a burger with the special cheese sauce and shared an order of cheese curds. Both were fabulous. The only thing I was disappointed in was that my husband went back for lunch the next day without me! He too loved it. Service was quick and friendly. The quality of meat was good and believe me when I compliment that. I have a problem with texture of meat, but not at all with this burger. The curds had a light breading which was perfect. I can't wait to go go back. read more

Great atmosphere, great service, great food. An institution in Downtown Burlington that NEVER disappoints.

Well, I wouldn't say "world famous" but noticeable. Burgers are above average but not gourmet. Nothing amazing regarding flavour but the hand cut fries and chips are very fun. The decor is Romo-esque and slightly rustic. Large and usually on the louder side. The bar had a good selection of craft beer both on tap and in the bottle and getting a mixed with top shelf is also possible. A good option in Burlington. read more
