being a so*cal kid, I crave good mexican often and this place helped hold me over... one, if not both, of the people behind the counter were cuban- and both were extremely sweet. I ordered a chicken burrito with all the fixings and a coke... my friend had her heart set on a beef burrito but when she ordered, they had just run out: the lady apologized, told her it would be 15min until a fresh batch was ready, offered her chips while she waited, told her she could bring in food from elsewhere if she wanted to pick up something else while I ate- really went above and beyond bc she couldn't provide my friend the burrito she wanted, when she wanted it (Mary ended up just waiting the 15min for the beef burrito). both burritos were full of flavor, I did the salsa verde on my burrito with an additional side of the xni salsa to top my bites with, and were heartily portioned out. read more

Okay burritos, too much hype. Mucho reasons to like: it's well-organized, staff is muy friendly, the hip menus, the humongous lucha libre painting on the wall brings a humorous, authentic feel to a burrito joint. It could have been a knockout - if the burritos had lived up to the rest. Here's where it falls short: it's a burrito that doesn't give its meats enough spotlight. I had one chicken with salsa verde and guacamole, and one pork (their recommendation) with xni pec. But it's hard to pin down the flavor of the meat since the other over-fillings tagged it out cold. The thick flour tortilla additionally blands out the flavor. If they reduced the other stuff and let the meat and salsa shine, it would have been sooo much better. Another note is that the burritos are too wet. The meat has lots of juice, the rice was too moist for mexican wraps, the beans were mushy. When combined, the entire burrito becomes a mush. It's not nice. They should have used either dry grilled meats or drier rice. The salsas are heavily featured here. Salsa verde and xni pec were flavorful. Freddy's revenge was surprisingly sharp but a little one dimensional (could be my initial shock of finding a proper hot salsa in Oslo). Here's the scale: if I rate USA Chipotle burrito as a 4, and a burrito at San Diego's famous "Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop" (which Freddy Fuego might or might not have been modeled after?) as a 5.. then Freddy Fuego is a 2.5. read more

This is the best burrito you're gonna get in Oslo and great to see there are good little places like this popping up in the city's otherwise very underwhelming food scene. Everything is fresh and prepared right in front of you - the standard for most burrito bars - and the salsas are great and ranging in spice level and the burritos are huge, healthy and filling. Service is lovely, quick and attentive by the Spanish speaking staff. The restaurant itself has really cool decor and communal seating. Menu and prices are on their website. Burritos are around the 100NOK mark (you pay slightly more to eat in), guacamole is an extra 20NOK (gasp!) and 25NOK for extra meat. But, this is Norway so you're not going to find anything much cheaper. read more

Good but not great. Except for the guacamole that was really good. The meat was well marinated. They were stingy with the peppers and onions like really really stingy. That and the price when you add guac is a little high but you're in the city center so can't expect a miracle there. I would probably go back if someone I was with wanted too but if it's just me you can find me standing in line at four gringos. read more

Super tasty mexican, good value and funky decor. This is one of my favourite places for a quick bite. The staff is always friendly, the food is served fresh and it's really tasty. Like a lot of these Mexican places you pick your ingredients in a "subway style" so you get exactly what you want. Quite a few different options and everything's included except for the guacamole which is extra. Casual seating with mexican themes decor. It's a street food place but still feels very healthy and fresh. Definitely recommended! read more

I am done with this place. I loved it in the beginning. I loved it for a few years, but it has gone the way of all restaurants in Oslo, it would seem. They start out great and then in an effort to save money (I assume), they go cheap and just ruin it. All places that serve food can have an off night, so the first time I got a burrito here with extremely dry pork, undercooked beans and bell pepper, I tried to ignore it. Last night was the 5th time in a row that something was horribly wrong with my burrito. Again, the pork was extremely overcooked. It was tough and parts were not edible. It tasted more like marinated bits of rope than actual pork. I stopped getting the beans because they were consistently being undercooked. But my husband got the beans last night and confirmed that they were once again undercooked. The bell pepper is often a hit or miss and this last time, it was a gigantic miss. I ended up dumping everything out of the tortilla and just ate that. The service has also gone downhill. The people working here used to greet you with a bright big smile, even though they harass my husband and I each and every time we said we didn't want rice in our burritos. Now, they are mopey and slow, but at least no longer harass us about the rice. Two times ago, we were served by the rudest person I have seen there yet. She didn't address us with any sort of "hello". She just put tortillas in the warmer and said "which meat to do you want?" We told her we wanted pork with no rice and then she turned around to start preparing a Foodora order. When she turned around again, she was talking to the Foodora guy and put beef in one burrito and pork in the other and rice in both so we assumed she was making the burritos for him. We didn't move along with her towards the register, at which point she asked us to move up. That's when we realized those burritos apparently were for us and told her she made them wrong, we both wanted pork, not beef and no rice. She got real pissy about it saying we should have said something when we saw her making them, but how the hell were we supposed to know they were for us when she said all of five words to us? She kept saying that she had already made these burritos and didn't know what to do. Maybe make new burritos as we ordered them? She eventually gave in, but made a huge fuss about it the entire time. I hate not liking this place, but I also refuse to keep giving my money to them in hopes that the next time will be like it was when I used to crave their burritos. read more

After my second visit here, I'm still convinced this is the best mexican food I've come across in Norway. I had the veggie burrito both times though, really good stuff. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful, and they obviously put a lot of heart and effort into the recipes and selection of produce/ingredients. Great salsas! read more

It's the best burrito I've had in Oslo so far. That doesn't really say much, given how horrible the others have been. People complain about the price, but I think it's good value. A bit too soft/soggy, and could have a bit more flavor. read more

Really good burrito, I had the pork it was excellent. Though the lady at the counter was a little to ambitious with how much filling the tortilla would hold so sadly it broke, but it probably wouldn't have if they hadn't toasted it. I don't really see the need for toasting a burrito. Also the freddy's revenge salsa had a good kick to it (hard to find here in oslo) but I didn't think the flavour was that tasty, too orange juicy. Great burritos and a really friendly owner! I visited Freddy Fuego a few days ago to grab a quick dinner with friends. The food is served in the same style as Chipotle (ie: build your own burrito), but I wouldn't call it a "rip off" by any means. Prices are really reasonable for the area. They offer four different fillings with slightly different prices: pork, chicken, beef, or vegetarian. The vegetarian option includes really delicious sweet potato (roasted? baked? I don't know, but they were good!), peppers and onions, and your choice of the usual fillings: beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, lettuce, and salsa. I met the owner (as he was rolling and pricing our burritos at check-out) and he's a really friendly Irish guy who has been dreaming of opening a place like this for 15 years. Ehhm not that great... I had the vegetarian one with roasted sweet potato (tasty), but with soggy peppers. The tortilla was wet and I couldn't put rice in because it was marinaded in some meaty sauce :( rice is like a must in a burrito, so why make it non-vegetarian! Not coming back, sorry! read more
