Fish taco!
Sonia C.

My hubby had a serious craving for Mexican food once we arrived in Oslo which was our final city in Norway and about the midway point of our overall trip. Luckily, Oslo is a pretty international city so whatever type of cuisine you're craving, you can pretty much find in this city. After a quick Yelp search, we found El Camino which is a Chipotle-like eatery where you choose a burrito, tacos, or bowl. select your meat (hooray for fish!) and top with salsa fixings, rice, beans, and guacamole (no extra charge!). I got a fried Fish taco with mango salsa which was tasty; the fish itself was slightly bland (oh hi, hot sauce!) but it's a large portion and fish is crazy crispy. If you need a lighter lunch, one fish taco will fill you up! If you have an appetite, get a burrito - they are HUGE! Employees were friendly and there is spacious indoor seating and some outdoor tables. If you need a Chipotle fix in Oslo and affordable and filling food, El Camino is worth a stop.

Pretty great spot in Oslo! Wasn't expecting a Chipotle-like place (Chipotle is a popular fast-casual chain in America that is similar to this), but we stumbled upon it. We wandered inside, were greeted by super friendly people and left stuffed. The menu is simple and easy to follow: choose either a taco, burrito or bowl, and then add your meat, veggies/rice and toppings. No extra cost for guacamole, sour cream or cheese! Cost was about 136 NOK. Venue inside was really cute and comfortable! Would definitely tell people to check it out!!

So now I find myself in Oslo, I missed breakfast this morning so I wanted something BIG to make up for the most important meal of the day, I happened to catch this place while looking for another one. I decided to pay it a visit and have myself a beef burrito, kind of doesn't make sense to visit another country and eat food you can eat anywhere back in the states, but hey I was hungry. I ordered the beef burrito with the works, the hot sauce, guacamole, beans, rice and everything else. I would have to say, it wasn't bad, the only thing that they should ditch is the whole wheat tortillas and go for the flour tortillas at least, other than that it was a big and filling burrito, taste was good, the hot sauce they add was hot and not mild then call it hot. The place itself is something like a fast food joint/modern restaurant with the Mexican theme all over it. The prices high for this type of food, maybe it's the area itself, for one burrito and a soft drink expect to pay around $22, I believe that's a little high especially since this type of food would be considered fast food.

This is a very beautiful place even in Winter. Wonderful staff. Mexican food with a Norwegian twist…read moreexcept you can get the house made guacamole to taste which means you can add pain (habanero) if you want. They have them. Topped with pomegranate seeds which was an excellent add. We had a group. He suggested and we followed order several dishes that come in twos and share. Their flautas are bigger than traditional. Give them try.

After reading reviews that being from CA this fit the bill as most authentic. I took the chance. There were 8 of us and got a table outside- near the window. The weather shifts a lot but they have heaters above you. They have menus in English if u ask. We all got either the chicken with Pineapple tacos or the "Birria" shredded beef tacos. They were awesome! No sides come with so if u want rice and beans you must order. We actually didn't need it having had guac and chips x2 (+refill on chips). Drink Menu was vast but out of the Modelo Especial and had to settle for Pacifico and I wanted the Blonde Draft from Norway with Chili. Not spicy, but okay. Kids enjoyed Mango Lemonades. As for dessert def get the Churros-maybe split into 2. Everyone cleared their plates so i think everyone was happy! It was a fun place to relax and afterwards watching people jump off the very end deck to swim is a nice after meal sightseeing. Def. Unique experience.

$20 for three tacos is never, ever worth it. Steer clear…read more Went with a friend without a reservation and they were accommodating and got us a table that had been cancelled. Service was 4 stars. They used quality ingredients and everything tasted great. Food is 4 stars for sure. The portions were so wrong it hurt, you can't even eat the taco without a fork and knife, which defeats the idea of the taco being a food for the everyday and everyone. Portions 2 stars. And omg the plates are ridiculous. The restaurant's metal tables are uneven, and the metal plates literally just spun around while trying to cut up the taco (that sounds as bad as cutting up sushi!) Also should have been steak knives instead of butter knives. Dining 2 stars

Any Mexican restaurant that serves Cochinita Pibil immediately distinguishes itself from the masses…read moreof mediocre Mexican places in Norway. They also get points for serving SOFT homemade tacos, which Mexicans swear by. It also happens we sat next to a guy from Mexico City who claims this is as close as it gets to real mexican in Oslo. The idea is cool, you order and experiment a bunch of *tiny tacos (you would need 5-7 tacos for a dinner) and get their matching salsas. The cochinitas pibil (slow roasted shredded pork in banana leaf, need I say more) is the star, full 5 stars, with the very good barbacoa lamb not far off, 4.5 stars. Ox tongue, fish and chicken are all satisfactory but clearly one notch below, 3.5 stars. Bonus points for serving the guacamole with totopos instead of regular nachos. The one caveat is that each tiny taco is NOT priced like a tiny dish, and it gets pricey fast when ordering lots of tacos. I don't think you can fault the quality of the food, it is just overpriced. The atmosphere screams out fun, well-designed restaurant down to servers with green military banana republic costumes. It's not a place you'd expect to pay such a premium. Overall, the value is a 4. Oh, can I mention the cochinita pibil again?
