Great social club where they do a lot of fundraisers for our community. Great place to plan your social event too.

The couple was able to personalize with photos and memorabilia set up on shelves in the breezeway inset area which was a sweet touch. The wedding ceremony took place outdoors on the Garden Patio. It was a gorgeous but warm, very sunny day and the seating on the right side could have perhaps used a sail shade of some sort as it was blindingly bright and quite warm on that side! It's a small thing as the ceremony was short, but thought I'd mention for anyone considering the space at a time of year when that's a factor. After the ceremony, we walked into the adjacent 1922 Lounge for the cocktail hour. This was a wonderful space with an eye-catching bar area, lots of seating and high tops, as well as plenty of room to mingle. We loved the signature cocktails and the passed hors d'oeuvres were absolutely delicious and plentiful! Onto the reception in the huge "Main Dining Room" with vaulted wood beam ceilings, chandeliers and warm hardwood flooring. Everything was configured beautifully, food was again delicious and the venue staff was excellent. I loved that you could retreat to the garden patio or other areas within the club when you needed a quiet moment! So from a guest's point of view, the University Club of Pasadena was the perfect venue for a wedding or any event for that matter. Great location, facility, food and staff!

A friend suggested the Junior League of Pasadena because it was a place where she met her most "normal" friends AND give back to the community. GREAT, I thought! Sure enough, for the last four years, I have met some great women, received wonderful training, and had many opportunities to volunteer throughout the community. This isn't pearls and high heels - these are normal, professional women. This is an organization whose mission is to promote volunterism, develop potential of women, and improve the community. It's a win-win! This organization formed or assisted in forming: Armory Center for the Arats, Kidspace Children's museum, the Huntington Library docent program, the Pasadena Senior Center, and a community resource facility at Madison Elementary, amongst many others. If you want to make an impact in the area and join some amazing women, then I recommend looking into the JLP. p.s. Wine and Dinner is served at most meetings. Definitely doesn't hurt after work!

If you miss a class, no one will care. - Teachers are great at their craft. They are nice people, wonderful dancers, and clearly explain the steps - Classes are affordable and you sign up a month at a time - The dance floor opens up after class ends and you can hang out/dance afterward Cons - Parking can be hit or miss depending on the time you arrive - No one wears masks, despite how close your faces get. From bad breath to body odor, to sticky hands, you experience it all. The main reason I chose not to continue is that I take the "follower" role and followers mostly just get led. I don't think followers learn as much as long as they have a good rhythm and a gentle understanding of the moves - which makes these classes not very worth it for me. It could be considered a fun, social activity - but I think "leads" gain much more from each class. This is neither a pro nor a con, but the style of the class allows individuals to rotate partners pretty much every 2-3 minutes, so you end up getting to dance with everyone in the class. The types of people you meet range from great to worst dancers, super young to super elderly, and very polite to straight-up rude.

They have a range of Lindy Hop classes, from beginner levels to advanced, and if you're just starting your dancing journey, the pre-lindy course is a fun stress-free class to dip your toes in. They have a social dance after class which is free to students and great for practice and meeting new people! Also they have live bands play once in a while.

Review of the LCFCC as a wedding venue…read more My daughter recently got married, and chose the La Canada Flintridge Country Club for the location. If the clouds hadn't swept it, it has excellent views including a view of downtown LA on a good (not hazy) day. The bar service was very good - they tracked every drink sold. The table service and food were also quite nice and friendly. Some tips: If you are walking outside on the ceramic tile floor and it's humid or misting, be careful - it can be quite slippery. The dance floor was around 25' x 25' and accommodated the DJ and lighting with no problems. Sight lines in the indoor facility were good. We had to shift from outdoor to indoor due to mist and rain. The facility flexed with no problems at all, making this seamless and STRESSLESS for the bride and groom. The staff was professional, and they kept the facility running well.

This place is surrounded by nature and it is connected to a trail that stretches to Rosebowl and to Monterey Park. The great thing is that it is opened to the doubling too so I don't have to be a member in order to use the pool to practice fly fishing. This is my first time learning how to fly fish. With this pool I was able to practice casting and aiming without getting someone else injured with my fishing hook. The space around the pool is very open too so there is not worry that the hook would entangled with trees. For those of you who love nature, this is the place to be. After practice, you can always take a hiking trip to the Rosebowl.

These 2 have changed the way I perceive the casting club! Recently the club has started to promote individual casting lessons - worth a lot of money if you think about the cost of private instruction! On Sunday at the no cost individual casting session, I got to meet Ray Bianco - a master certified IFFF instructor in 2 handed fly fishing. Ray was the teacher for my current instructor (John Vanderhoof) so I learned so much from him during the 2 hours that I was amazed at how the club is definitely trying to introduce new members to the club. Ray was able to help me learn how to cast more difficult lines (longer belly, scandi, and heavy weight rods). Luckily I had brought along my tough to cast: 8 wt 44' Scandi spey line and 10wt Echo 15' spey rod lined with a 720gr skagit shooting head. Plus they have spey casting group instruction every year that I have been taking with a guest instructor who I have been learning with: John Vanderhoof. Not only do they do freshwater outings, the club also does salt water which I love. The next guest instructor for the salt is a surf fly fisher whose office is the ocean every day - that will be a hoot! The club encourages those that are new to learn with free lessons, join them on outings, learn how to tie flies, and build their own fly rods! This club has definitely changed to meet the demands of the newer class of fly anglers - it's not a club just for the dry fly purists....
