All servers are polite, professional, and speak great English. The Italian menu is written on the blackboard on the wall. They'll provide you a QR code for English menu. While I was going to order pasta and main dish (fish) which a kind server suggested against due to the pasta portion. She was 100% correct, so I ordered tuna tartare and squid ink pasta. Both dishes were fantastic: tuna tartare was fresh - sushi/sashimi quality, and pasta dish was excellent despite the huge portion, lol! They suggested different wines for each dish to try, and I appreciated that they pay attention to details. While they would be a bit pricier compared to other restaurants in the area, if you're looking for solid food with polite service in the quiet environment, this is your place!

We enjoyed the amberjack carpaccio, which was super fresh and served with a fennel and orange salad. We then shared a pasta dish with shrimp and Trapani pesto - very delish. We finished with grilled amberjack with grilled eggplant and seared tuna with roasted potatoes. Both fish dishes were tasty and the quality of the fish was very good. The tuna was cooked a tad over and the skin on the amberJack could have been crisper ( the flesh was moist and well-seasoned) but overall we enjoyed the food very much. Our first waiter recommended a nice white wine from Etna - we ordered two bottles for the 3 of us. The lovely woman who then brought our food was delightful and charming. The evening we dined there, Canadian Amazon Prime was shooting a food network show on site and we ended up being a part of it (we consented to be interviewed and to do multiple takes and signed releases). It clearly was very exciting for the restaurant and we were happy to help, although the owner never acknowledged us at all. One quibble was that it took an hour after we asked for the check ( three times) for us to pay and one of us needed to get some work done on LA time. All in all, this place is worth a visit. It felt like good value and we had a very enjoyable time.

The pastries were amazing - both days I had a chocolate croissant with essence of orange and my spouse had a cornetta (with cream). We had cappuccinos and an espresso - both were good. We ordered - outside of the continental breakfast that came with our lodging - an omelette with tomato. The omelette was cooked well and the tomatoes inside gave it a wonderful flavor. It was the perfect savory and protein addition to breakfast for a day full of sight seeing. The staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. There is both inside and outside seating. On the first day I went back to Giada for lunch and had as a starter a traditional Sicilian arancini- saffron rice, meat ragu, peas and cheese. I would recommend. For the entree, I ordered pesto fettuccine and it was the best pesto pasta I have had. A perfect balance of pesto, garlic, olive oil; the pasta was al dente and it was just made to order. Again, the staff and service were outstanding, Giada was consistently and reliably delicious. I would highly recommend.

We were welcomed to our outside table by Ivan--un grande! He is super nice and insightful with suggestions. He answered all of our questions in Italian and in English! The food: AMAZING! We started with a couple Jameson on the rocks (generous pour) and the calamari fritti as an appetizer. Buonissima! Lightly fried served with lemon wedges over un insalata valeriana--ottimo! After we ordered the spaghetti alla vongole veraci (fresh--not frozen) and the pappardelle con gamberetti e pesto dì pistacchio--wow! Totally different and wonderful! Ivan was so accommodating and gentile. Bravi tutti quanti a Ristorante Caffè Giada!

This is clearly a tourist trap. Although the restaurant proudly displays its Michelin stickers, in…read morereality it is selling mediocre overpriced food. You can get much better authentic food at trattorias around the corner in the alleys at much better prices. The menu is surprisingly limited, offering very few choices, while the "dishes of the day" amounted to a single, unimaginative option. (At real Palermitani restaurants the "plates of the day" are a list of specials with fresh ingredients--not here). The wine selection was equally underwhelming and overpriced with a very stingy pour. The biggest disappointment was the degustazione appetizer. For 20 euro they served a small plate of very ordinary street food (caponata, overcooked tuna, re-warmed panelle)--nothing memorable, nothing that showcased local tradition or exceptional ingredients or any elevation or unique twist. You can find these same dishes throughout Palermo for a fraction of the price, fresher, and better quality. What makes this especially frustrating is the pricing. By Palermo standards, the restaurant is extremely expensive, but there's little on the plate or in the glass to justify the premium. It feels as though you're paying for the Michelin stickers on the door rather than the quality of the food. You will see there are no locals here, only foreign tourists steered here by their hotel or guidebooks. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. If you're looking for authentic Palermitan cuisine, generous hospitality, and good value, there are countless restaurants in Palermo that deliver all three far better than this one.

The First Restaurant Experience in Sicily Served Food & Some "Godfather History"…read more I ate at the main branch of restaurant that is known for being one of the first and, for many years, an establishment that stood up against the Mafia and Cosa Nostra. Antica Focacceria's two owners stood against the Mob by refusing to pay the 'pizzu', or protection money. According to Michelin Star Chef #giorgiolocatelli , the consequence is even in recent years, the owners were in exile. Now settled in a confidential place in mainland Italy, they fortuitously and successfully managed the expansion of this Sicilian restaurant all over Italy. Proudly supportive, I sat at the very first branch of the restaurant, the gutsy one that courageously said no to mob bullying, the original Antica Focacceria San Francesco . And I went twice, too.
