During our stay in Palermo good friends took us to Lo Strascino. In many respects this was a great visit. Besides the good (best) company, we had a fabulous meal in this very "Sicilian" family owned and operated restaurant. Lets start with the food, everything was excellent, the large antipasto buffet draws you in immediately and the selection we tasted was excellent. Their pasta's were perfectly prepared. (We had a seafood risotto and a pasta with zucchini) and the mains we shared (all seafood as well) were equally tasty. The pizza was probably the best I had in Palermo, I was told that has to do with the fact that their wood burning oven burns almond shells which adds to the flavor. The L'artigiano sorbet for dessert made the experience complete. On to the surroundings, Lo Strascino is a large restaurant and where you sit makes a difference. All of the space however shares the beauty of its decorations which are all Sicilian artifacts, the staff will gladly explain what is what and the history. It may be a bit out of the way for many visitors as it is about 10 mins out of the center and worth a visit. The restaurant was full when we dined so the location does not prevent people from coming. read more
