Fraser's is a lovely little place for a sandwich, and manages to separate itself from the other shops in the area by having a brilliant location, right where North Road meets the Old Steine. As well as that, the prices are excellent, the home-made sandwiches are better than anything you might get in any of the big chains, and the service is friendly. Ideal for any lunchtime!
Brighton is not exactly sparse on the lunchtime sandwich joint (and the many iterations thereof), and most try and stand out by having an original spin on some old classics. Now, most readers of any of my reviews on here will know that I'm a big stickler for originality: I love the fact that the lunch choices in this town are so varied. In Fraser's case, it isn't the originality that wins me over, its the simple quality. Everything on sale is hand-made, and the prices are exceptionally good value-for-money, with a sandwich costing, on average, just £2!
Also, Fraser's location couldn't be more ideal for grabbing a sandwich on the way past, being on the way to nearly anywhere across the Steine. Also, the home-spun design and set-up is just charming!
In the end, there are better places nearby, but they're scurried away in the Lanes, not out in the open and easy to access. If you're breezing by and need a cheap, easy, simple lunch, you can't really go wrong with Fraser's. Anything more exciting than a sandwich though, and you'll need to go further out of your way. read more
