I play on these fields as part of a Social Boston Sports softball league, and I was struck by how…read morelucky I am to be able to play here the 1st time I stepped on the field. The Red Sox Foundation makes sure the fields are immaculate. There are lights for night games, which comes in handy since my league plays 9 PM & 10 PM games. There are 2 baseball fields, so 2 games can occur at the same time. There are some small metal bleachers for friends to be able to come watch & cheer our team on. Benches are available for both teams, and the fence behind them comes in handy for hanging up coats. The 1st time I was in the outfield, I had to remind myself to be in the game rather than looking at the beautiful surroundings - the Red Line going over the Longfellow Bridge, and a beautiful Boston skyline. The turn for the field parking lot comes up pretty quick on Storrow Drive, so you have to be sure to be in the right lane not to miss it. It's a small parking lot, so I've had to wait for a space to open up to park, but have always been able to get a parking spot before the game begins.

As far as Boston softball fields go its one of the best maintained fields, however, there are…read moresignificant problems with the field that prevent it from being anything more than a 2nd tier option at best. Field 1 left field is waaaayyy too short for adults, even without the trees that hang into play. The bases are too short- supposedly 65', but it wouldnt surprise me if they were closer to 60'. For reference ALL adult associations are using 70' base paths as of 2012. Further, the field management has chose to use those stupid SoftTouch bases- "soft" hollow rubber bases mounted on sleeves sunk into the dirt. Which tend to crack and split, or pop out of the sleeves which then fill with dirt and you can't put the base back in making the bases FAR more dangerous than non mounted bases. Safety wise, there is also a mini "green monster" scoreboard between the fields not far enough out of play just begging for somebody to run into it. At least they finally moved the metal stands which were also positioned close enough to the field to be a major problem on errant throws to 1B. The field looks nice, but it was clearly designed for looks rather than utility.

My favorite part is the paved half mile loop, great for kids riding bikes so you can keep an eye on them. I came here to enjoy dinner at the little seafood joint located in the park. I couldn't have asked for a better setting for my last meal on my vacation. The breeze from the harbor. The sun beaming through the fluffy clouds. I was almost too good to be true to be in such a perfect setting. But I was here, living in that moment. I couldn't have asked for a better park to eat my meal at. Everything I took in will forever be etched in my brain. A memory and feeling I will never forget.

Lowell is back baby! Well, at least America's pastime. The short, single A season was dissolved by…read moreMLB since right before COVID. We loved the small timey feel of LeLacheur at the time and caught ourselves attending some very cheap entertainment several times a year. So when we heard the team was back for the 2026 season, we jumped at the opportunity to return with our growing family. I don't think anything changed at all. There are still an ample amount of concession stands and kid activities. The all you can play for $5 for the bouncy items in the outfield was a great touch, even if it meant we hardly saw any of the game. Hotdogs couldn't have been more than four bucks. Everything seemed so reasonable. Wait I do take that back. The concession stands no longer seemed to have the fried dough cart right behind home plate. We specifically remember this and how good it was at the time. The only complaint here might be lack of shade on a hot summer day. If they covered more of the seats it would be beneficial to all. But it's just so nice to have this type of baseball back close to Boston, you won't be disappointed at all taking anyone from 2 to 102 here.

Duggar Park...what can I say? If you have any ties to "West Meffa" then you already can understand…read morethe history and appreciate its past. Duggar Park has been a West Meffa institution since my Dads younger days (he just turned 70!), back when West was the predominantly Black neighborhood of Medford. The Rhône tennis courts were named after a well known resident, and events are held throughout the spring/summer here. There's 2 playgrounds here, a sprinkler some tennis courts and a basketball court all along the Mystic river neighboring Somerville. And maybe even once in awhile you'll catch the ice cream truck stopping by. I have so many great memories of this park from the 80s/90s there's no reason why it doesn't deserve 5 stars. It's a great local small park if you're in the area great for kids and families.
