Walked in w hungry family & immediately greeted on a Monday afternoon. The bacon chicken ranch tacos were the recommended special. After quickly being seated, we ordered the tacos, Reuben egg rolls, Chicken Tenders, fries & gyro meat w Tzatziki. Bacon chicken ranch tacos were busting w flavor, w an unexpected interesting sweet glaze in the mix. Probably could have used a touch of (spicy) heat for our taste, but we devoured these fresh tacos in no time. The Reuben egg rolls were astoundingly decadent. Very tasty deep fried goodness. The crunch of the wonton wrapper and gooey cheese w hot corned beef served w thousand island to dip was a special treat. Did I mention there is a FULL BAR in here?!? Randomly found this place while on the way to a different place but decided to stop in here instead. Great atmosphere, TVs in the booths, and walls, a bar, music that isn't too loud, great selection of food pairings that I have never seen before. Prices for everything was great considering the area, and just in general. The owner was working as the cashier and bussing tables, and he stopped by to check on us and was incredibly kind. So 9 of us from California are traveling throughout Michigan and going north around Lake Michigan, 7 for the first time, and around dinner time we're looking for a place to eat. We look on Yelp and find Frankz, call, and they say they can accommodate us. So we get there are are met by Joey, the owner, and the staff sets up a table for us. Between the 9 of us we have Coney Island type hot dogs, chicken in a basket, gyros, fries, pop and a salad, and the group thought their food was really good! Joey is quite friendly and shared stories with us on how he started the business, about some of the decorations in the store including pictures and banners and was just an all around good guy. The restaurant is unique with all the college and professional sports pennants and pictures, and each booth had a different team banner above it and a TV to watch if one wanted to. We all had tea or pop, but there is a bar if one wants a drink. All of us highly recommend this if you're in or driving through Frankfort. read more

Great gem in downtown Frankfurt. Thought it would be just fries and dogs, but they do serve alcohol and adult slushees as well as gyros. My husband enjoyed the gyro, and I ordered the special for that day which was fish tacos. And I have to say the order came with 3 nice size lightly and perfectly breaded fish tacos with slaw and aioli. Super delicious! The owner was super nice and accommodating. I was in Frankfort for the afternoon and needed some lunch, so I popped into Frankz. I got the Cheddar dog, which is topped with chili and cheese, an order of onion rings, and a pop. The food was good, especially the rings, which were crisp, nicely seasoned, and allowed you to take a bite without the onion sliding out. They come with a spicy ranch sauce for dipping. Not as cheap as fast food ($12 for my order), but the quality is very good. The staff were nice and friendly and the owner came out to check on everyone. We ordered 4 plain hotdogs and 2 Frankz dogs and 2 orders of fries ( right around $30) the frankz dogs were yummy, fries were crispy and yummy. (even after our 10 minute walk to the beach) sons ate the plain dogs. They said they liked them, but they looked a little grey to me,(maybe they were boiled?) since our other dogs had stuff on them, I am guessing they looked that way as well... just couldn't see. Frankz is delicious. It's one of the only quick service options near the beach and is within perfect walking distance. They have tables and long booths, the restaurant is decorated with tons of Michigan gear. The cheddar dogs are delicious and the fries are nice and crispy. It's clean and has restrooms. They also have a few alcohol options. The only set back is that it is pretty pricey. We got 6 dogs for the 3 of us, 3 fountain drinks, and a side of fries to share and the total was more than $40. We were in Frankfort for the day, and decided to try Frankz as they advertised coney dogs in their window. Frankz is one of those places where you order, pay, and then receive your food... this is something I do not like unless it's a place I've been to before and know what I'm getting. My reticence about this turned out to be justified with Frankz. We ordered four coney dogs, one order of French fries, and two drinks. The texture of the hot dog was really soft, almost mushy--Frankz charges a dollar extra for a hot dog with a casing. The chili on the coney dogs was sweet, which was very unusual. We did not like it. The fries were good, but not the best fries we've had. The price for our small order of food was $36.00. When you break it down, that's $17.50 a person... not the price you expect to pay at a place that serves hot dogs and fries. Overall, the food is underwhelming and overpriced. Part of it has to do with the location. Frankfort has made it on the map in a major way, and it's patronized by mostly those in the strata of society who don't care how much they pay for what they're getting, even if it's mediocre. I do not mind paying more for really good food, and I didn't get it at Frankz. The atmosphere is typical for a coney dog restaurant; casual and basic. It was clean inside, which is always important. The staff was friendly as well. However, the food is the most important aspect of a dining experience--and the food at Frankz is not good enough to merit a return. Stop at the A&W at the edge of town for better food at more reasonable prices. read more

Frankz was exactly what we were looking for. Our order was taken by the owner, who is super nice, and who gave us recommendations for each one of us. I was delighted to see that Frankfort had added a restaurant along Main Street that was good for quick, affordable meals. The owner was extremely nice, and his staff was great. The interior is beautiful, and I appreciate the HD TVs on display, feeding my sports addiction. The prices were right, and the service was solid. My only criticism is the dog. I thought they were very good, and I like the variations in the menu. I just wish that the bread was more supportive...less Wonder Bread and more toward rolls. It's picky, but when the dog was loaded with goodies, the bread took a hit and made it difficult to eat without a mess. Also, when the bread got a bit soggy, it would end up sticking to the paper, and would peel back bread when you picked it up. I'd also like all of the dogs to have the natural casings, even if it means the prices went up a bit. However, this is all picky!
