Been going here for 15ish yrs and also when they were at their previous location. My favorite thing was the hot shots, they have changed since last year. They have gotten shorter by 3-4in and wider by a few mm. The other thing that changed was the flavor or should I say the lack there of. They just tasted like meat with little to no spiciness. They were never super hot to begin with but there was at least a slight amount of heat almost like half the spiciness of Tostitos mild salsa. Paid handsomely for some Delmonico Steaks - couldn't wait to grill them on our pellet grill...but, they were tasteless, grizzle, texture like a bad sirloin. I have been coming here since 1980. I was 10 when I first started coming for beef jerky and hotshots back then. The best in town. Now as I'm older I come for all my meat, lunch meats and cheese. I hate coming in here, because there are usually 3-5 guys behind the counter without masks who look like they're sizing me up. No offense, but I don't want to be looked up and down/sized up when I go to buy sausages. I've also heard them make fun of other customers that were in the store. They were trying to keep it whispered, but I heard them saying some super rude things. The staff has a very juvenile sense of professionalism. Other than that, the sausage cuts are decent and they have a decent beer selection. Don't come here for Polish food though, because it's not good. It's basically the same kind of low quality "Polish" Kielbasa and Pierogi you'd find at Wal-Mart or Meijer. I thought I'd like this place, but the staff's immaturity has made sure I never come in again. read more

Frank's is amazing! Reminds me of the butcher shop my family frequented as a kid. Good service and a great set of products. Love the jalapeño hot shots, jerky, bacon and meatballs. Great cuts of steak including ribeyes, filets and porterhouse and many more. Delmonico ribeyes have perfect amount of marbling. Very good quality meat fresh and frozen. Not a wide variety of things otherwise, mainly just the basics. I wish they would invest a little into offering more products. You might expect things to be a little fancier for the price but it seems like more is put into quality. I don't doubt their meat, even later on in the week like some places. They have the best jerky I've tasted in my life. They have these meat sticks as well that seem very popular. I have grown up on Frank's Meat Market's fresh kielbasa. I always remember growing up and when my mom would need to get more fresh kielbasa, we would venture down to Frank's from Kentwood, and the smell is full of nostalgia. I remember when Frank would always give me an apple when I was little. Did he do this to all of the kids when they came in? Aside from my nostalgia, Frank's fresh kielbasa is top notch. It tastes like it has more garlic than other market's fresh kielbasa, and just tasted more "fresh" and flavorful. The market is also very clean, organized nicely, and all of their other meats are very fresh. I would also recommend the Kracki and Keilbasa Loaf lunch meats, which I also grew up on. The staff and customer service is also excellent, and the handsome young men always provide service with a smile! One of the hidden gems here are the "hot shots"; smoked sausage with a kick, not too spicy, but just right to wash down with a cold beer. The staff here is also something of legend. I picked up two New York Strips (15.99 a lb.) and grilled them for a belated Fathers Day. I was very satisfied with the quality of meat. The price was approximate to most other shops, though I feel it was higher than some of the shops on the NW side of GR. If you haven't been to this shop before there is a little parking lot on the corner of National and Fulton. Then you just have to walk about 25 yards to the shop, which is next to the Bitter End Coffee shop. Or there is a little drive in between the little pharmacy on the opposite side, which it looked like you could also park in. Staff and service were prompt and readily available. read more

I grew up on franks meat. Their Kielbasa, Jerky, & Hot Shots are amazingly delicious. My mother would always make their kielbasa once a week along with a bowl of macaroni and tomatoes when I was growing up and I honestly can say no kielbasa I have ever had can even come close to Franks. My mom would always buy a couple of their pickles and we would slices them up and eat them when we were having our TV night usually watching my mother favorite show Knots Landing. That was about 30 years ago and I still love Franks. They offer great deals on meat packages also. But their kielbasa is something you will never forget. My brother moved to Arkansas year and years ago and he always wants Franks kielbasa when he visits and talks about how much he misses it. When we come home to visit, we always visit & bring meat home in coolers with dry ice. With the cost of an extra bag, we are now considering having meat shipped.
