Fish & Chips with blonde ale

Fish & Chips here- Unmatched. The cod is huge crispy with flavorful potato wedges. Paired with their in-house blonde ale and you have a total winner! Love you Franklins

This place is so cool!!! I was looking for a new spot to have a meet-up with my homies. I was so intrigued by the fact that it was a restaurant, brewery, AND general store! So, let's start with food. Once we were seated and greeted by Sara, we sat around and talked for a bit before deciding what we wanted. The drink menu is wild so I opted for a beer. After all, it is a brewery! I opted for an IPA, my friend also ordered a beer (Dark & Stormy, a dark beer), and the other ordered a drink. Although my beer was 11%, it wasn't bitter and tasted juicy! It was good. I got the fish & chips w/coleslaw, one friend ordered onion rings and the other ordered salmon. Those onion rings were banging! and the coleslaw was pretty good too. Who doesn't love some fish & chips. Sometimes you just want something crispy! Overall, the food was decent. But let's talk about the general store-----------WOW! It's stocked with EVERYTHING!! Mugs, puzzles, seasonings, socks, leggo's, books, anything you can imagine. It's wild! Then......they also have liquor and beer. I'm talking craft beer, good wine, etc. Oh, and let's throw in an ice cream shop. Yes, an ice cream shop. They have everything! Check it out for yourself!

My friend and I stopped in after taking a rug making class across the street, and it ended up being the perfect post class meal. We shared the crispy eggplant and shrimp skewers, and both were excellent. We each ordered a cocktail too, and everything hit the spot. We sat at the bar, and the service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and a really nice way to end the evening. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

One thing to note is it was after 6:00 pm and we didn't have to pay for parking. We didn't have to wait too long, we were seated promptly and our waitress came with water. Our food took a while to come out but I figured it will be fresh! It is very loud but it's dinner time and there most tables are full. I got the Cesar salad because I wasn't very hungry. It was delicious and I almost ate it all even though I wasn't very hungry. My grandson got the Cook's House burger with corn pudding and I had a bite that, it was quite tasty. We got the Crispy Mushroom Bowl to go and that too was delicious! I love coming to this place. Now for the ice cream!

Forgot to take photos before but you see it.

Stumbled upon a goodie! It does have a general store and an ice cream shop. The ambiance is pub like. Service was swift and friendly. We tried the mussels which were garlicky and steamed to perfection, the crab dip was hot and creamy, the shrimp skewer were succulent/juicy. Lastly the lamb sliders were the perfect bite. Def plan to return to try one or 2 of their 30 ice cream flavors.

Had the biggest onion rings of my life here, wow. And they were great too with the horseradish sauce. These were more savory than sweet. Followed my friend's way of eating them and used a fork and knife haha. Ordered a chicken sandwich too and it was delicious. Ask for extra sauce cause I found it a little dry but overall tasted great. Our server was really nice and friendly too. After eating, we went downstairs for some ice cream and I got the super chonk flavor (malted vanilla ice cream, fudge, peanut butter, brownie pieces). It hit the spot, tasted like real premium ice cream. Glad to have checked this spot out. I liked the family friendly ambiance and can tell it's an important part of the community.

Fried Chicken w/ mashed potatoes and collards

Stopped in for an early dinner at Franklin's General Store and was pleasantly surprised by how much this spot has to offer. There's plenty of space to stretch out -- two full floors and an open kitchen concept that gives the place a relaxed, welcoming vibe. We ordered a nice variety to share: * Lamb sliders with potato wedges * Pastrami sandwich with potato wedges * Fried chicken dinner Service was cool and laid-back, which matched the casual comfort of the restaurant. I absolutely loved the lamb sliders and wedges -- flavorful, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. My dining companion couldn't stop raving about the pastrami sandwich, calling it the best he's had in a while, which is saying something! Our other companion opted for the fried chicken dinner and enjoyed it so much that they boxed up the rest because the portion was that filling. To end on a sweet note, we shared the bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream, and let me tell you -- luxurious is the only word. Warm, rich, indulgent... truly a must-try dessert. Franklin's General Store is a great choice when you want hearty comfort food, generous portions, and a chill atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

We were celebrating a coworker's birthday here for lunch and were given a very good server. We brought a cake and told her it was a birthday lunch. Right away she served us waters and asked for our drink orders. We started with two orders of the onion rings! She was really good at making sure we had enough sauces to go with it besides the horseradish one. I told her I like the honey mustard so she brought us that and ketchup. The birthday guy ordered the duck confit which he scarfed down. The other orders were club sandwich's, Franklin's burger and the pulled pork platter. Everything was delicious and abundant that we needed to go boxes. We debated on dessert too but with the cake we decided not to overstuff ourselves. She was gracious enough to bring us a candle and light it up for us. It was a wonderful celebration and all were pleasantly full in the end.

After visiting the Pyramid Atlantic Art center, I walked across the street to try out Franklins for lunch. I must say that the food was delicious and the drinks are strong (just how I like it). The customer service was amazing and I enjoyed my time there at the bar.

    vegan gelato selection

This review is all about the new Ice Cream shop. We were delighted by the vegan gelato! Creamiest ever! And such cool flavors! I went with Strawberry straciatella and coffee and both were delicious. Three strawberry flavor was fruity and wonderful in a creamy base with some chocolate flakes in it. The coffee was bitter in a good coffee kind of way. There was no coconut flavor as is typical with non-dairy ice creams so that's great. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thanks for hooking up the vegans!

Very solid and reliable spot! Classic American restaurant with tons of seating and diverse setting. Could go here for a casual date night, a family dinner, business meeting, etc. Both the food and service were very good! No complaints here. Waitress was attentive, food came out at a decent time, and the quality was great. The lamb sliders are OUTSTANDING. The onions rings are HUGE. I also ordered a blue cheese burger, which was very tasty. Everything was good, not extraordinary, but that's not what you're looking for here. I wouldn't rush to go back, but I would not mind ending up here again/it's on my list of quality restaurants.

Visited for a team lunch and the pizza is so good! We started off with a few appetizers, but the crab pretzel was definitely my favorite. Our server was super kind and handled our large party well. Definitely recommend their pizza! It was delish.

Ask the Community - Franklins General Store

What's the outdoor seating situation like in cold covid times? Heat lamps? Fire pits? Thanks for any answers!

No fire pits or heat lamps, but when the temperature climbs above 50 degrees look for the pineapple flags - both hanging from a tent and on line. The pineapples are a sign that the outdoor seating is open for service.

Is there a lot of available parking? Is parking free? Thanks

Yes - there's a big parking lot. Only specific hours of the day require payment, so it's sometimes free.

Is there anything vegan at Franklin's?

    Yes but limited

The outdoor space is spacious and perfect for soaking up the sun, and we love that food trucks rotate through -- it makes every visit feel a little different. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!
