Nowadays, it is a state-of-the-art facility which caters to all age groups and I am getting to learn about what it has to offer (too much to note honestly). First of all, I will note that the staff are excellent - very pleasant, diverse and helpful, not only to someone like myself (with not obvious "disabilities") but to others as well. It is very quiet areas. I have been utilizing the private rooms for peace and quiet to accomplish computer activities and it is definitely much quieter than it was back in 2012 when I would frequent the library while in school for a degree. There is a wide variety of materials to be checked out: I learned about the "Library of Things", which are literally "things" that can be checked out and taken home with you (one of the many perks of being in the IPL district). If you don't know how to utilize the many services, feel free to ask Guest Services and a friendly person there can assist you. They got me set up with a visitor ID so I could log in to a terminal however I would recommend bringing your own laptop and just logging in with their wifi. The terminals are only good for 1-2 hours and if you need to be there a full day it's better to just log in on your own laptop; you'll have the same access to everything as on the terminals. Put in a good 6 hours here and got a lot of good research done. The building itself is gorgeous and spacious and fronts a lively little park next to their walkable downtown area. It was a day well spent.

Adult reference area ladies kind of reminded me of the old school lunch ladies. Kinda crotchety, but still nice. Found what we were looking for or I should say who we were looking for. My daughter and her tutor used the Hemingway study room on 5/20 at approximately 5:45 p.m…read more Unfortunately, the experience was extremely unpleasant and concerning. The group using the room prior to them left half-eaten sushi in the trash can, causing the room to smell strongly of fish. To help with the odor, my daughter's tutor, who is also a Glen Ellyn resident, placed the trash can partially in the doorway to keep the door slightly open for ventilation. An employee described as taller with dark hair approached them and stated that it was "policy" that the trash cans had to remain inside the room with the door closed. When the tutor explained the odor issue, the employee returned with a bottle of Febreze and sprayed it directly in their direction inside the enclosed study room, then placed the sushi-filled trash can back inside the room and shut the door again while reiterating that the door had to remain closed. My daughter became physically ill after the session and vomited when she got home. Regardless of intent, spraying a scented chemical irritant into a small enclosed space without asking the occupants was inappropriate and unprofessional. More concerning is that the obvious solution -- simply removing or emptying the trash containing rotting food -- was ignored in favor of masking the smell with spray fragrance. This situation demonstrated poor judgment, lack of customer care, and an unnecessary escalation of a simple sanitation issue.

I looked online and was happy that they were offering a complimentary parking pass to The Chicago Botanic Garden. The guy behind the counter was nice and helpful. It took him some time to get my information to get my library card. I walked around a bit and this library is quite nice. Very nice and clean on the inside and outside. There are many programs and workshops this place offers. You can check online for events young, teens and adults. I love the banner outside that says "Everyone is Welcome" Its also cool that FPL is Fine Free which permanently eliminates fines.
