Here's how this place does compassion, 5hrs after fire started the fire inspector lets him go inside the house first time. While he's entering the remains of his house, Pinkard rudely told him he needed to take these and fill them out immediately. It's a folder with generic info sheets and photocopy of regulations of their business. Ambulance chasing folder for sure. Shame on Pinkard for horrible timing and zero compassion practices. Only reason I didn't throw it away immediately after that was I thought Pinkard rushed out to donate their services to him being hometown tragedy but when I contacted Pinkard was told nope treating it same as every funeral !! I was sick with disgust after my phone conversation is all I can say words can't describe how bad they were.

I just want to take a minute to thank Joey and the staff at Spry funeral home for all of their…read morehelp. I called another funeral home and was quoted more than what was charged only months ago. Not only did Spry quote me 1,000 less they also called me back and discounted even more due to COVID-19 & the fact that there wasn't a burial policy. They made accommodations for my family to be able to see mother one last time. Like I said there's just not enough good things I can say about the way we were treated. It sure did make me feel good to know that some people in the community are still looking out for each other. You know it's times like these when people will either be the givers or the takers. They were the only place that didn't demand all of the money upfront. They actually worked with me on it.

We went in to make plans at the insistence if the funeral director, Mr. Clark, who called me. We met in a room with my sister, brother, and my niece. I informed Mr. Clark she had a pre-need in place for opening and closing of the grave which he denied, saying she 'stopped payment' on her check. I was present when mother paid so I knew it was BS. I asked him to show me, he brings back a copy of her check. Nothing on it, just a check. I told him this was just a copy of her check and proves nothing so he left again. This time he brings back a check Greenview wrote my mother for $350 a week after she paid plus a cancellation notice dated 10 years later which said 'cancelled by phone.' On the memo line on check it said 'refund for overpayment.' I looked at these papers and told him there was some snookery going on. This is when Mr. Clark jumped out of his chair and began screaming at me while pounding his finger on the table telling me this is what they had on file and all he had to go on was what the office gave him. Then he told me, "Go to Spry Williams, Elkins and Son, I don't care where the hell you go so long as it isn't here because I'm not dealing with you!" Of course, I jumped up and told him . "Don't you DARE jump out of that chair and scream at me. Then my brother got in his face. Then he threw the burial policy at me and stomped out of the room. My gut told me to deal with Mr. Thornton at Elkins but they weren't available Christmas eve. I have regretted that ever since. It was obvious my mother had indeed been refunded the money but Greenview thought it was an overpayment. The owner, Mr. Cook confirmed he felt it was their mistake. I met with him back in February to try to iron things out and give him the opportunity to respond to this outrageous behavior. 5 minutes into the meeting, it became clear to me and my sister that he had no intentions of dealing with it in an acceptable manner and had intended to keep him in his employ. The owner was very apologetic and respectful and the funeral director, Mr. Daugherty, who took over was professional and courteous though he committed a serious faux paux, I will not get into, the day of her funeral because that was just a moment of bad judgement, not an outrage as what happened before. I waited a while to post this review to give them a chance and gather my thoughts. My advice is simple. Know that it is now possible you're going to get yelled at on one of the worst days of your life by one of their staff. It is sad he lacks professionalism in his environment. Never again.
