First off, I do want to acknowledge the renovations that took place some years ago. It was a…read morewelcomed overhaul of the Inn. I had a great stay here overall. Parking is great for the size of the Inn. There are times where it can get a little full, but there are additional parking spots on campus or at the Hospital nearby. The staff is typically polite and willing to help direct you to your destination. I had a great experience during my stay. The room itself was clean and felt fresh. An opportunity for some of the rooms would be to take a look at the plumbing. My room in particular had slow drainage and the toilet would run for some time after flushing. Luckily the bathroom door was solid enough to block out the running toilet noise when viewing the television. While I did not partake in dinner at Shakerrag (onsite restaurant) this trip, I have had their offerings before for an event at the Inn and it was pretty good. Decent pricing (for Sewanee) as well. Overall it was a good stay and I had a peaceful night at the end of the hall. Not too much foot traffic and easy enough to get around.

We arrived right at the first seating for dinner on a Sunday. Our waiter was lovely. The decor was beautiful. The old lodge feel of the place is very cozy. The only reason I removed a star is the food. Nothing was revolutionary. Food was fine.

We had looked at a place on Arnold AFB, but at the time it was government shutdown and so there was no chance of that happening. It would have been interesting to stay the night there though. So we went into town, and looked around at various places. The Best Western was the best fit for us, so that is where we went. Check in was an easy process, no issues there, and the room was clean and appropriate. Pricing was good, particularly since they honored a price I had been set by another vendor. We slept well, and glory unto glory, the shower had a decent shower head in it that allowed for a proper shower, not one of these rain shower heads that are absolute garbage in my book. If we were to ever come through this area again, we would absolutely consider the Best Western.

After…read moredriving a total of 14 hours in one day from Florida to this hotel, we were excited to get to the hotel and decompress; but this could not be further from what really happened. As we walked in there were plenty of unpleasant surprises. Including spiderwebs in the corner of the ceiling, the air vent being full of suspicious solids including hair maybe? Cocoons?? Bugs??? Who knows. The couch was dirty and hideous, the floors and toilet were dirty, and there a very weird stale smell wafting through the air. The cherry on top of the awful room was the straight-from-a-horror-film exposed brick cut-outs in the wall. However, onto the only positive of the stay: Karen at reception. She was so kind to my mom during her first stay at this hotel, and this visit too she was patient, kind, and empathetic. If you do stay at this hotel, make sure to try and look for Karen at the front desk. She was the one thing that made this experience somewhat enjoyable. If you choose to stay at this property, be sure to check your room before you unload all of your belongings.

The staff here is so friendly and the breakfast is better than I've experienced at any other Hampton inn. Biscuits every day, southern style gravy, berry waffles, or chocolate waffles (not both on the same day), it's so good. Housekeeping every other day with full service every fourth. It's good that way. I never had any trouble parking or with construction noises. There are very few spaces in front so you'll need to park out back and either walk around or use your key to get in the building. Some spaces are taken up by construction trailers but I still saw plenty of parking. Price is not too bad, in dollars or points, especially if you book well ahead of time. My room was quiet despite being right next to the elevator, further rooms are likely even quieter. Unfortunately all they had available when I selected my room was right next to elevator on second floor or same room on fourth floor which also had adjoining room. I figured second floor without adjoining room would be quieter and was right. It was fine. All in all a very nice hotel, not much nearby though since this is rural Alabama. Chains and a couple mom and pop shops in downtown scottsboro a couple miles away.

When I was searching this one looked really nice and it was near lots of different places to eat and shop. When I had called to ask for a non-first floor room, they told me that they were doing renovations and I asked if I could get a upgraded hotel room that's already been renovated and I was able to get that. The breakfast was very good. lots of different choices you can make a waffle. You can have a bagel. They have avocados out there too The dark roast coffee was amazing. If I come up to this area again, I definitely will stay at this facility The only thing I would suggest is putting more towels in the bathrooms. And also the thermostat in our room was not working so we can tell what the temperature was.
