The next thing was the actual school in old Ingram building seems the temp is kinda warmer in the building! Next it's no gym or cafeteria like area no free program for lunch. A lot of unsure ans to questions, not a lot of order when it came to the 1st day. Also the drop off and pick up line is horrible and will have your child late for school due to not being any buses! And if they have a shuttle you have to pay for that as well! The line to pick up will have you waiting over a hour for pick up! It's really been all summer and better actions and planning should have been put in place since they know a lot of thing are not in place to make things easier! The school should consider single parents time and money with having to prepare children for school plus handle a day work and also have to make sure the children are doing there best! Also the outside workers for the parking should be better at communicating and doing a better job to ensure drop off and pick up are done in a respectful and timely manner!

My son went here in Kindergarten (2007) and I am so thankful that it was only one year he went…read morehere. Here is the story........ I got a call from the school one day because my son was sick and they needed me to come and get him. So I put on my shoes and headed toward to the school. 2.9 miles total I lived from the school. So I arrived at the school and as I was walking in to the school the Assistant Principle was walking out of the front doors. She stopped me and asked me if I had seen a little boy, I replies No and continued into the school. I looked back and saw her and another woman jogging down toward the road. I go in to the office and tell them I am here to pick up my son. They call his teacher and she said she sent him to the office, he should be in there. Well he was not. So I check the bathrooms right down the hall from the office and he was not there either. Then the light bulb went on in my head and my stomach dropped! Oh My Goodness, that way my son the assistant principle was looking for! So I immediately got in my car and headed back towards my house. NOW, this school is on a main road with no side walks, 45 mph speed zone, and semi trucks galore! I'm praying that my baby is OK. As I turn off of the major road on to another major road I see three cars stopped on the side of the road and the people standing out of their cars all looking down! My heart sank, panic sunk in, and tears started flowing. I thought the worse, please don't let my baby be hurt! I jumped out of my car and ran over to them. Thank God! My son was standing there with these complete strangers, the assistant principle, and another teacher. Apparently, my sons teacher told him that he had to go home because he was sick, my 5 year old son took him literally, got his backpack, and walked out of the doors, and started walking home. A passerby called the school to inform them that they saw a student walking down the road with a backpack on, that is how they knew they were missing a kid! A different stranger was pumping gas at the gas station adjacent from the turn he made on to the other major road and as he drove over to my son and stopped him and called the police. Thank god this was not some creepy child molester or something! Anyhow, my 5 year old son walked .25 miles on a busy roadway with no sidewalk until he was stopped by a stranger. The stranger told me he called the cops and the assistant principle said " I don't think there is a need for that" REALLY???? And then she had the audacity to look at my son and say " You know you are not suppose to do that, you could have gotten yourself hurt" HOLD UP..... Don't tell MY child he was in the wrong for going home like his teacher told him to. He was 5 and his first year in school and he did exactly what he was told. He was not told to go to the office ( in which he shouldn't be allowed to go alone to anyways) he was told to go home. The cops came we filled out a report. The man who stopped my son from walking further told me he would testify for me if I chose to sue the "h**l out of them" but I didn't pursue it. I did however go off on them for the negligence but never filed anything against them. I was told they have put in a buddy system since that incident happened and I believe that they still till this day use the buddy system. I am so thankful my son was not hurt and I am glad it taught those teachers something too. So, needless to say, I pulled my son out of that school when the year was over and never returned!

Sylvan Park is a Padeia Design Center - focusing on the Padeia philosophy that involves the "upbringing" of a child, the approach is more than just instruction, the idea is that the child is receiving an education. You can read more online, but I definitely see activities, school programs, and the style of teaching is geared in this direction with personal attention to each child. We drive 20 miles out of the way, 10 in each direction with traffic just to get her here each day having moved away from the neighborhood and I will continue to because she loves it here and I love her being here.

The band and the choir are both really good as well. It's a newer school so the facilities are nicer than most schools in the area. The only thing I dislike - and this is a complaint about most of the schools in Murfreesboro and Smyrna - is the pick up line after school. It could be organized better.

Hi, I'm a 7th grader that goes to this school, its easy to navigate once you know it, now to the…read morereview reason. This school has a teacher in cluster 2 (the middle school area) named Mr. Habeck, he seems nice, but when you are breaking the rules, he turns into a asshole real fast, plus, when students talk to other teachers about their problems, Mr. Habeck, will just shut it straight down if you have been bad recently. He will even think if you cuss or yell, you are doing it for attention (which sometimes is the case) but he is wrong about being jealous of the other students, he thinks that's why some students cuss, but sometimes it's not jealousy, it's what's happening behind the scenes with the students family's, that's me and not just me but with other students as well. Mr. Mahaffey (don't know if I spelled that right) is the principle of the school, he hasn't noticed yet, because when he is around Mr. Habeck goes from, a calm demon, to a straight angel with his students. One time my filter broke and I cussed, because a teacher shoved me, and this motherfucker (Mr.habeck) thought I was doing it for attention​​​, then the next day I was talking to a teacher Ms. Devin, Mr. Habeck walks in, and just buds in being all rude, and shut down the conversation thinking I was jealous about other students getting attention, when it was for a complete different reason. The staff at this exceptional school are amazing…read more Especially in the low incidence deparmtent They work with some amazing and tough students but because they are serious about team work it all works out. I have only been working at Cora Howe for 3 weeks and it's been such an awesome experience working with this team. Everyone is willing to help teach and assist with all the students if their hands are free.
