Granted, her old office with Dr. Deluca was cramped and scheduling was pretty terrible and I'm not sure why that was. Going to that office always had me disgruntled, but in the end, I couldn't give up on my doctor. I'm glad I didn't. Physicals are very quick and impersonal and it does not appear that records like past levels of cholesterol are kept. It's on the patient to monitor whether or not cholesterol levels are going up or down after getting them tested every year.

However, he was very nice & welcoming ( Dillon) I went in for cough, fever, general fatigue. Chest xray done and the PA ( physician asst) by the name of C. Pickering informed me my chest x-ray was normal. He prescribed an inhaler and 2 ( two!) antibiotics. ( Amoxicillin & Doxycycline) If the chest x-ray was " normal " why would I need 2 antibiotics let alone one? Well, I wouldn't!! Only bacterial infections require an antibiotic and since he said my x-ray was normal I'd assume this was viral therefore not needing antibiotics. Well, I get to CVS and the PA calls me and tells me that I actually have pneumonia in my left lung. I'm not happy at this point for such confusion telling me my xray is normal and now it's not! I'm 72 yrs old and having pneumonia at my age is a serious health concern because aging weakens the immune system and lung function, increasing risks for complications like respiratory failure, sepsis, and even death, with mortality rates "significantly higher" in older adults. I'm a retired RN so this is why i'm knowledgeable. So here I am with an inhaler ( that's fine) but two antibiotics! So which one do I take? I opted for the stronger one and if I'm not better I'll return to see my primary care Doctor. ( His office was closed today hence urgent care) Please opt for another urgent care if you need one or call and see who's on duty. If it's C. Pickering then pass and go elsewhere please. Brendan, the referral and medical records worker, has completely missed the mark both times. Back in September, he ignored requests from my dermatologist for an insurance referral for a week straight. The day before my appointment, he still had not sent them one. At my 7:40AM appointment time, he still had not sent it. Thankfully, the dermatologist still saw me (and thank God for that, I ended up having a spot of skin cancer.) Brendan ended up sending the referral a few days after my appointment.. and had to back-date it. Fine. Fast forward to the night before my ENT specialist appointment (aka today), the ENT office calls me and says they've requested a referral from Brendan THREE separate times over the past month.. and have received zero response. They are now going to cancel my appointment due to never receiving an insurance referral from him. I am BEYOND frustrated. I have had eight surgeries on my ears, resulting in moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. I have been waiting for this appointment for two months. Brendan, your complete and utter incompetency has not only caused me extreme stress, but NOW you've caused me to lose an appointment I waited months for. When individuals are navigating health challenges, administrative friction compounds their burden and represents a failure of essential service. Particularly disheartening is watching capable clinical providers have their efforts consistently undermined by operational deficiencies. Healthcare demands collaboration across all levels. I called Fairlawn primary care this morning and asked for medication (not opiates) to help with the pain while I work on getting x-rays. I get a VM from Rebecca stating that my PA sent the script to a pharmacy I haven't used in years, which I had already updated with Fairlawn at my last visit, but THEY left it in the system. I called back and proceeded to ask if it could be transferred to my local pharmacy because I am in so much pain I can't drive long distances. I can't move my neck to switch lanes or sit up for long periods of time, etc. No empathy provided. Just Rebecca taking the phone and coming down my throat full force. Rebecca took the phone from the receptionist and proceeded to yell at me. "It's not Fairlawn's problem you have multiple pharmacies on file" - my response was "it was because I updated them during my last visit." I also reminded her that my prior medications a few months ago were sent to the correct CVS, why wasn't this one? She did not have any answers to my questions. She proceeded to say to me "every time you call you have an attitude." That is bullying and took me back. Especially because the last time I was in the office, Rebecca told me to drop her name if I wanted my boyfriend to become a patient, even though Fadi wasn't accepting anymore. Why extend that olive branch to a person that's always a problem? Gaslighting as its finest. Ethics complaint will be filed with the state when I am contacted with Rebecca's remaining details. Upholding patient autonomy, beneficence, and justice means respecting a patient's right to self-determination (autonomy), acting in their best interest (beneficence), and ensuring fair, equitable treatment for all (justice). My best interest was not acted in, Rebecca's was. Bullying me and threating to withhold medication is in direct violation with Rhode Island's Healthcare Ethics.
