It closed years ago. Used to go a while back and enjoyed the American/Italian dining experience.

Burger Shed 41 is a typical hipster American burger place, the kind of place that opened 3 years…read moreago in London and is now (happily, within reason, a trend in all the UK's other cities). The burger here (I got a cheeseburger) was very good. Chicken and veggie options went down well too. The only disappointment was the poutine, the cheese was a bit sickly. Price wise, it's coming in around £10 for a burger and fries, so it's not the cheapest lunch but given the calorie count better as a treat in any case.

They have an open kitchen which I love, always good to see the chefs preparing your fresh food. The menu is pretty straight forward, burgers and hot dogs and selection of fries and sides to go with them. The food was reasonably priced, the drinks were a little bit expensive but the milkshake I had was delicious. We called in advance to see whether they could accommodate our friend with a dairy allergy and they couldn't of been more helpful with the suggestions they made. The staff were friendly throughout the whole experience. The only let down for me was that they forgot my milkshake, I waited quite awhile as I know they take longer than most drinks but It was quite apparent they had forgot, it wasn't too big a deal though. If you find yourself looking for somewhere casual to eat in Chester this place is cool and the service was fast.

For me (with hearing issues) there is not enough soft furnishings to soak up some of the sound, so in the end I removed my hearing aids. There wasn't any loud misic it was just general restaurant chatter. Before I booked I checked out the menu, and is very much in the style of Bistrot Pierre. Bistrot Pierre was founded in 1994, and the COTE series of restaurants was founded in 2007. However, the latter have more sites. They automatically add 12.5% to the bill. I'm happy to pay this if confirmed by the staff that they actually do get the money. Nevertheless, I'd prefer to decide upon my contribution. Before I start about the choices, it was an interesting observation subsequently checking the bill to see that my 11 yo chose the most expensive items that appeared on the bill. Also, is it waiter for all genders these days? Has this hit the languages that have masculine and feminine for objects, and people? I'm going to distinguish between the two by Male Waiter (MW) and Female Waiter (FW). Starters: 2 x Calamari (£6.50 ea) - £13.00 2 x Crab Mayonnaise (£7.75 ea) - £15.00 1 x Prawn - £15.00 Mains: 3 x 7oz Fillet Steaks (£19.95 ea) - £59.85 (2 with garlic butter at £1.25 each - £2.50) 1 x half chicken, garlic butter (extra) £11.50 + £1.25 - £12.75 1 x Steak Frites - £11.50 Sweets: 1 x Creme Brulee - £5.95 1 x Tart Aux Citron - £5.75 1 x Iced Berries - £4.95 1 x Praline Crepe - £6.25 Drinks 3 x Coca Cola - (£2.60 ea) - £7.80 4 x Bottles of Kronenburg (£3.80) - £15.20 1 Cranberry Juice - £2.30 3 x 125ml Lagarde Blanc (£4.25 ez) - £14.25 (cheaper to have had the bottle, will she never learn?) 2 x 125ml Lagarde Rouge (£4.75) - £9.50 1 x Cafe American - £2.30 Service Charge - £24.58 TOTAL - £221.18 Now for the loss of the star: Fillet steaks ordered as follows: Me - Blue Daughter - Rare Son - Medium Unfortunately, it was discovered a bit too late as that garlic butter had been applied and I didn't want garlic butter. We got: Me - Medium Daughter - Blue Son - Rare They were delivered from the kitchen by two MWs. The FW offered me a free drink (I declined), as they couldn't un-cook my steak. We all enjoyed the steaks, but they are supposed to be locally reared and aged 30 days. I have had better aged steaks that don't ooze blood..... However, they were tender. There was also errors on a nearby table: First they brought out one plate of Steak Frites, when two was order, and they thought the old ladies wanted to share.... Not so.... They were told the additional one would take 7 minutes. Quite rightly they asked for the one available to be taken back and both brought to the table at the same time. When their bill arrived, it had 3 steak frites, instead of 2..... I am not quite sure why these mistakes happen: our steaks, and the ladies' steak frites.... Would I return to Cote Brasserie - YES.

The last time i came here they offered large tasty pies like the Pietanic and offered no card payments.. their menu has now changed..no pies :( Anyway this is full of character..with low lying beams..dark, curious and stunning windows. Anyway we retreated back here after finding our favourite restaurant fully booked. The menu is limited with one main fish dish and just one veggie one? Two steak salads were ordered to begin. Comparing this to Solitas I thought it was passable. I Prefer my steak still mooing this was well done and a tad chewy and the salad leaves covered in olive oil.. it was okay for the price. Mains :I fancied some traditional fish and chips..my dad selected the chicken burger . Presentation was good and my haddock looked like a battered shark...huge!! Perched on top of tasty homemade chips and perfect mushy peas. My dad loved his chicken burger stating it was fresh and all homemade. Desserts again were limited.. I had a Eton mess..really tasty bit pricey for what it was..my dad a large slab of sticky toffee cake.. Overall this is a hidden a gem and a good place to retreat when it's busy..with friendly staff, limited but tasty approved food.. two starters, mains, desserts and two round of drinks came to 50 quid..not bad..

I can't say that I'll be returning here again any time soon. I'm not going to sit and berate the…read morerestaurant, but it simply wasn't up to scratch. Staff would often shout and ask us questions from across the room, a drink was spilled on one of us (when they were finally brought, having been sat on the counter for 20 minutes after they had been poured (we recieved our food before the drinks)). The food was only lukewarm, and at times tastless, especially the ribs that I had. Granted, it wasn't all bad. Staff were perfectly friendly and hospitable. The gentleman serving us told us not to have a particular item off of the menu (the sliders) as they tasted cheap, so this is a bit of a grey area here. I really do appreciate the fact that a staff member told us not to have a particular item as it would leave us dissapointed, but the fact that they would have such little faith in it so as to call it 'cheap'. That is a fair enough point, though, when they cost £17+! For dessert, I had a Cookie dough Sundae, which again, was rather lacklustre. The whipped cream to top it, tasted rather sour, and then rather than have a number of cookie dough balls scattered throughout the entire sundae, it was just two massive... globs [for lack of a better word], placed under layers of tasteless ice cream. The food itself wasn't awful, it was brought incredibly quickly and was served with a smile at all times, but I think that just about sums up this place to be honest. Friendly staff with the best of intentions, who still have a fair way to go to get to where they should be. Were this a small family run restaurant I might return at a later date to see if they had improved. But as it is just a small link in a large franchise, I can't see head office being too bothered if this link closed down as a result of being unable to make the required changes. There are several places in the vacinity where you would probably be better off, though it wouldn't be fair of me to name them. Overall, only go here if you simply want food instead of an ennjoyable experience, or the local places are all booked up.
