I chose this place because it appeared as in‑network under my vision insurance. My health insurance is UnitedHealthcare, one of the most common and widely accepted plans, so I had no reason to expect any problems. The exam they provided was nothing special--just the same basic check she gets anywhere when getting new glasses. Then I received a bill for almost $700 because they decided to bill the visit through my medical insurance instead, which was out of network. At no point did the receptionist or anyone else warn me that the visit would be billed this way or that it would be considered out of network. There was zero transparency. I even asked for a detailed billing statement to understand the charges, and they never responded. Not a single reply. This felt misleading and completely avoidable. Families deserve honest information before an appointment, not surprise bills afterward. I do not recommend this place and I don't want anyone else to get scammed the way I did. Just don't go!

I have been to UC Eye Institute in Irvine and UCSD in La Jolla many times since the very last time I saw Dr. Tracy. Please do not trust him with your vision. He ruined my life!!!! Recently, she keeps telling me that my prescription isn't "covered" and neglected to do her research when ordering blood tests, making sure I could afford them.
