Both my wife and I are patients of Dr Pastore and his hygienist Ben. The office is located on Newport, in the Stater Brothers/Rite Aid strip mall, with lots of parking available. We found they both do excellent work and are very professional. My teeth in particular needed some special attention. After working on them over two visits, I was offered several suggestions, which were both helpful and didn't require any cost on my part. I was impressed with their individual care and concerns, along with their office manager. She clearly knew the ins/outs of our insurance and was able to navigate it without any problems or fuss. I hadn't been to a dentist in decades out of fear. My daughter recommended Dr. Pastore when I was forced to face my fears after I cracked a tooth. I was very surprised to (1) not get lectured (2) get all of my questions answered in a caring, non-judgemental atmosphere, (3) have the dental plan laid out in an easy to understand process over time. I have since had one tooth extracted, a root canal, 3 crowns, and still working on my teeth. All of the appointments have been pleasant, pain-free, and the entire staff is super nice!! I thought I had found a wonderful dentist. He was nice, seemed patient and caring. HOW DISAPPOINTING to find out otherwise. After a procedure done by his hygienist, I called in horrific pain, and Pastorie refused to see me. I feel that this was not ethical, professional nor compassionate. He refused, leaving me to contact a periodontist. He simply decided to send me on my way; pain, swollen jaw and all. He left me on my own while I was in a lot of pain to solve the situation on my own. So to here is what happened: Dec. 9th: I went to Pastories office for my preciously scheduled cleaning. I have been a client of this dentist for about 2 years and have regularly scheduled cleanings. After the cleaning, I was experiencing "trouble" with one tooth. At first I was handling the pain with Tylenol, then days later, Tylenol and hot salt water. By the time Christmas came around, it was really bothering me, so I called Pastories office on Dec. 28th; got a recording that said the office was open so I left a message. Pastories receptionist called me back. I told her I was in pain and needed to see the dentist. Her first available appointment was the next week. Well, the pain kept getting worse, so I kept calling the office to get some quicker help. Now I am getting messages that they are open, but no one is answering for days. Believe me, I called multiple times and multiple days. On that Friday, Pastorie called me back, said that he and the rest of his office was out for the week, but he came in to check on something and noticed my messages. He did call in some antibiotics. That helped a lot; and then I saw Pastorie the following week. He gave me a full examination, x-rays and all and said that the one tooth that was bothering me needed a deep cleaning. I booked that procedure and kept the appointment. The hygienist told me that the tooth would be "sensitive" for a couple of days. Well, it was. It just wasn't getting better, so I called for more antibiotics (after all, they saved the day the last time). Instead, the hygienist wanted to see me, so, of course I went in. Both Pastorie and the hygienist looked at it and said it was fine. No antibiotics. Both assured me that the swelling, tenderness and pain will go away very soon. Instead, my jaw swelled up and the pain was unbelievable. The infection was much worse than the first infection. Pastorie called in another prescription for an antibiotic. This time, the antibiotic did not seem to have any impact and I was in terrible pain. I called the office again; I was really in a lot of pain and kind of scared that my entire left jaw was so swollen. The receptionist put me on hold to tell Pastorie . Pastorie had her tell me that there was nothing he could do. IF I WAS IN PAIN, I needed to contact a periodontist. He dropped me with no explanation; just call someone else. He did not speak with me, no conversation regarding why my jaw was so swollen, and no explanation as to why he would not see me. I was clear with the receptionist that the infection was worse, and I needed to speak with him. It has been a couple of weeks now and Pastorie has not checked on me. No phone call; nothing. I guess he just wanted his money. Clearly, he has no further concerns regarding my health or his dismissal of my situation. I was in terrible pain, and he left me to deal with it on my own. I will never go back to him again. read more

My husband and I found Dr. Pastore after a quick Google search. We had not had a dentist in over a year since we moved to Menifee. After looking through his website and seeing it was a family owned business we felt comfortable setting up an appointment. Dr. Pastore and his staff were very welcoming and efficient. They managed to take care of my husbands emergency tooth problem and get his issues taken care of quickly. They accept Care Credit which was a plus for us as we were in-between insurances. I was also able to get a small cavity filled and schedule out a cleaning as well. Our previous dentist was one who always made a sales pitch out of any visit. After meeting with Dr. Pastore we found that most of the "issues" were unnecessary and unneeded at this time. Dr. Pastore is amazing! Both my husband & I have not had dental work done in years, so we had some cavities that needed fillings among other specialized dental work. We have come to the office a few times in the last couple months & every time, Dr. Pastore & his team have consistently made us feel welcome & comfortable. I have severe receding gums that I have leaned over the years to live with. However, life gets challenging when me teeth must be worked on. Since the roots on some of my teeth are exposed, excruciating pain is elicited when even air touches my mouth. The hygienists were all so gentle & helped me accommodate my impairment (I.e. warming the cold water under my tongue before swishing). For cavities that were on my most sensitive side, Dr. Pastore went in to numb the area, & my entire body cringed. None of us had any idea my teeth would react that strongly that even numbing agents would be painful. Dr. Pastore literally told me, quality of life is much more important than filling a couple small cavities. I am so thankful my dentist used his judgement & allowed us to wait on filling them until the Peridontist performed the surgery. Right before that particular appointment, I went to a periodontist nearby. I was discouraged because the procedure was incredibly expensive, so I was forced to wait until next year to afford the surgery on only the worst part of my teeth, this was not all of the receded areas. Dr. Pastore told me about a colleague in San Diego who specialized in the newest treatments of Periodontics. He called her while I was waiting (since we decided not to proceed with the fillings), & took pictures of my gums so she could quickly tell him whether the procedure would even be a feasible option for me. Dr. Pastore told his colleague what I was quoted & she did not give her price (thought he tried his best). She did, however,say it was not nearly as much as my original quote. Upset this dentist is out of network for delta but office staff was kind enough to refer me to an in network doctor

I came in for my daughter's appointment today. Come to find out that the receptionist had cancelled it because I noted that I was open to be contacted if they had any cancellations. I was unable to go in after being informed of an opening with only a day advance notice due to an unforeseen emergency & made sure to call. No answer after about 3 calls so I left a message to inform them. I never got a call back nor any kind of notice that my original appointment had been cancelled. I show up for it only to find out then that my daughter was no longer on the schedule. They made sure to let me know that they had scheduled 3 other people in my daughter's original appointment time. What was the point of that statement? Seemingly profit over people. Dentist even came out to make more excuses stating "If I had 4 hands I would do it". Highly inappropriate and unprofessional. My daughter is set to get her braces tomorrow & had I known that her appointment was cancelled I would've opted to pursue an alternative dentist. I understand staffing challenges in this market, but communication is key. This could've been handled in a much more effective manner. read more

My husband and I moved to Menifee a little over 3 years ago. I had just retired from being a dental assistant so I began my search for a new DDS on the internet. I was impressed overall with Dr Pastore's website so I booked cleanings and checkups . My husband has inherited periodontal problems and needs 3 - 4 cleanings a year just to stay on top of things. I always said that he married well because I keep encouraging him to go to the DDS and that saves his teeth! I waited to give this review after we had major work done: I had 2 crowns replaced that had fractured over 15 yrs. time. Dr P has excellent skills and chooses excellent labs to make the crowns fit. Barely a bite adjustment and they floss perfectly with a nice snap! Ben (hygienist) was trying all therapies for my husband to save his already deeper pocket areas and being the nature of periodontal disease we lost the battle due to overall infection that developed . After seeing a periodontist the infection was treated but my husband lost 3 molars. No fault to anyone..just the nature of the inherited disease! Long story short: My husband had 3 implants placed by the periodontist and 4-5 months later( safe to wait that length for the body to "integrate" the implants) Dr Pastore took impressions. The crowns were seated with expertise and talent the 1st time! I knew then that we had found our DDS home for sure! Everyone at the office is kind, caring and talented. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment. I always told my patients that saving your teeth by getting regular checkups and cleanings is worth it so you can enjoy yummy meals all your life. Dr. Pastore is the best dentist that I have ever been to. In the past my experiences with dentists were less than positive.... In fact, because of one particular experience I didn't go to the dentist for a good five years. I was that terrified. For me Novocaine doesn't work. That's right, I can't get numb from the anesthetic. It's a genetic thing, my dad too doesn't get numb. Most dentists believe very little their patients tell them. Dr. Pastore, however, actually listens! He didn't doubt for one second about my body's way of being "awesome" and saying "haha" in the face of Novocaine. He used Carbocaine and it made me numb!!! He does that cool wiggle trick on top of a topical anesthetic (numbing stuff) so the injection is painless! Painless! No pain. And my lips, cheeks and tongue weren't even affected. I saw Dr. Pastore for a second opinion because the dentist at Bradley Family Dental was less than par.... I had a molar that kept throwing tantrums no matter that I brush, floss, gargle and tongue scrape! This bratty molar cared not at all and didn't have any qualms causing me pain for over a year!!! (See paragraph one for explanation) Anyways Dr. Pastore gave me my second opinion and even though his office is out-of-network, I chose his office for my procedure because of how kind, patient, considerate and gentle he was. His team was also a deciding factor to get that misbehaving molar fixed. During my appointment he numbed me up 100%! He was calm and explained what he was going to do. He understood that my Doctor recommended that I take my anti-anxiety medication and didn't judge me for being afraid. The first appointment for the procedure went super fast because I was at ease. It seems odd that a dental appointment would be easy but it was. The next appointment I didn't even need my anti-anxiety medication! I sincerely appreciate not having a constant toothache. Dr. Pastore helped that molar know who's boss and it's now on its best behavior! I've been under the weather so I haven't been back for my next appointment for a cleaning but I will as soon as my bratty lungs decide to stop attacking each other! Maybe the good Doctor has a brother who is a Pulmanologist? Haha! One can dream. ;) I definitely recommend this Dental office and Dr. Pastore!!!! 5 stars for sure! I tell my local friends and family that they should switch to Dr. Pastore so whomever is reading this, I recommend that you make an appointment. :) Why? Finally. An honest dentist and staff!! Since I moved to Menifee I have a literally tried four or five dentists and they have all been horrible. They are money hungry sharks that don't give a damn about your teeth. They just want your money. And what is it with there being three or four different people coming into the room to tell you what you need done and how much it's going to cost? I came from LA where my dentist was the nicest most honest man and would never let me get anything done that I didn't need to get done. I would even ask about teeth whitening and he would always tell me to wait until the end of the cleaning to see if my teeth look whiter and they usually would and he would always tell me "see, you don't need the whitening." So all these newbie dentists are a shock to me. Most dentists here have told me I needed this and that and when I went here, Dr. Pastore told me that all I needed was to get to one or two of my fillings replaced because they were very old, but he said that I still had some time and eventually if I didn't take care of it it would become a problem. The other dentist I went to said that if I didn't get it done almost immediately I would have to get a root canal. Scandalous liars! Dr. Pastore is great and friendly and tells it how it is.
