Their meats are plenty juicy enough without the crema. We got plates which came with very flavorful rice and black beans. Next time I'll ask to have the salad served separately. Just my preference. Service is super friendly and accommodating to dietary issues (ugh we are now both very lactose intolerant, such a pain). My coworker and I both tried the taco platters which came with rice & black beans served over lettuce. Not gonna lie that was different but it worked. Kim and Jorge are such a lovely couple who greet every customer with genuine warmth--you instantly feel right at home when you walk in. They have so many regular customers, and the place is busy! The cool, calm, yet welcoming vibes make it the perfect spot for a casual lunch, a cozy dinner date, or a meal with friends and family. Their unique Mexi-Cali flavors truly set them apart. The duck is a standout, but honestly, everything on the menu is worth trying (so much so that they often sell out early). The chicken is perfectly marinated and juicy, the fish is fresh and moist, and--surprisingly--our usually selective kid couldn't stop raving about their quesadillas. Cute little spot in the Bayview neighborhood! All the workers are super friendly and welcoming when my family and I walked in. My husband and I ordered a steak burrito and it was delicious! The burrito is not massive like the ones you would get at other Mexican restaurants but it was a good size for us to share for lunch. My first impression was this is not your average taqueria, it has an upscale vibe but reasonably priced. The husband and wife who run this place greeted me and my family as we were regulars on our first time. It was a nice first impression. The craft beer is a quality selection and the food comes out beautifully, I swear the microgreens also give the tacos an upscale look as well. My husband was set on trying this spot after seeing it on a foodie's IG. He called in our order and did a quick drive by to pick up on rainy Saturday. We got the breakfast quesadilla with birria meat and the grizzly quesadilla with birria meat. For a name like Frank Grizzly, I'll be honest that I was expecting large bear-ish portions, in which both our orders were lacking. Because I no longer live in the city, I don't get the chance to visit Frank Grizzly's very often. Since I was in San Francisco for the weekend, I made it a point to check their hours, and to my surprise they were open until 3:00 p.m.I invited my sister to join me for lunch, and I'm so glad we went! I ordered the Quesabirria hard shell taco plate, which came with beans, rice, and a huge salad. Their quesabirria is hands down the best I've ever had! The service is amazing. The portion was generous, the presentation was beautiful, and everything on the plate was delicious. The beans and rice were flavorful, the salad was fresh and plentiful, and the taco itself was absolutely superb. My sister ordered the shrimp taco and the fish taco with beans, rice, and salad. She couldn't stop talking about how good her meal was and kept saying how much she enjoyed every bite. Anytime I'm in the Bayview area, I make it a point to see if Frank Grizzly's is open because the food is consistently amazing. Daaaang. First time here today, rolling up 45 minutes before they closed this Sunday, having dragged my husband along with the siren call of Tacoooos! On the way there, he said he was just going to get a drink as he already had a big breakfast after a 5K run with a friend -- but he could not resist, and got himself a shrimp taco which he promptly inhaled after the friendly husband of the husband and wife owner super duo dropped off the hot creations of his wife who was manning the grill -- props all around for the genuine warmth of service from them both! Plus also the enthusiasm from the sweet blond spiky-haired waitress who was hustling to get orders in. I got 2 tacos -- the Quesabirria and the Veggie. The Quesabirria was MIND-BLOWING, the perfect spicy combo of beef and cheese, OMG. My cardiologist would for sure wag a finger at me, but sometimes, you just have to follow your passions ;-) I also balanced that beefy cheesiness with a lighter, delicious, fresh vegetable taco, with zucchini and yellow squash and other friendly vegs which escape my memory. For a drink, their Aqua Fresca of the day (Watermelon) which was a gorgeous pink, not too sweet, and very refreshing. I love how they use caviar in their food. Always a treat. The interior has two tables for 6-8 people and lots of counter space. They mostly specialize in tacos, quesadillas, and bowls that have traditional Mexican origins but with a Cali twist. The Good: *Quesabirria taco was bomb and definitely the highlight of what we tried. Crispy, beefy, and juicy, it almost didn't need the consommé but it was def a nice touch. *Friendly service *Vegetarian (vegan) options The Meh: *Too much froo-froo toppings in their normal tacos; I kept getting mouthfuls of greens and not enough meat/tortilla in some bites. *Chipotle chicken was really dry. I was circling for parking in a place I will not name in the city and I was like f* it, imma go to Bayview or Viz to eat, I know there'll be parking. So I happen upon this taco spot. Really good vibe, and music. I got a two taco combo. Listen, the quesabirria-- chef's kiss and all that. Gooey inside, super hot from the plancha, consume was yummy. Then the shrimp taco, also delicious, had some mango pico and a h-handmade corn tortilla. My gripe, the tortilla was a lil small for the amount of shrimp and the pile of veg+pico+crema.
