I called requesting if they did a particular procedure on kids and was told that they did so i made an appointment. We showed up 15 minutes early, like you're supposed to. We then proceeded to wait just short of 2 hours to be seen. We were then quickly told that they in fact didn't perform the procedure they had said over the phone they did. End result we ended up with a bill and lost 2 hours of our life. While this may have been a misunderstanding it sure felt like a quick and easy way to bill us without any intent to treat. That may not be the case but either way waiting 2 hours to be seen is also extremely poor service.

I didn't know to take him sooner. We brushed his teeth and he never had any complaints) The dentist found cavities. She said they were very deep and she wanted to do two baby root canals and caps on his top molars and 2 fillings on his bottom molars. She said he would need to be sedated for almost an hour in office. I was told if I opted for laughing gas, and he wasn't doing well they would bring in more staff to hold him down because they would finish the procedure once they started. My total bill would be $1200 as the sedation isn't covered. I called a second pediatric dentist for a second opinion She said that even though they didn't have xrays she was certain he didn't need any root canals and she only wanted to cap one tooth and she could fill the other 3 teeth. (She explained that these cavities were from under developed teeth and likely a genetics issue.) She also recommended a liquid Valium and laughing gas, but if he wasn't responding well we could reassess and choice a different option... he wouldn't be forced to continue. We just completed the work with them today and my bill was less than $450.

My 13-year-old daughter has been a patient since she was two years old and I cannot believe the way things have been handled with their office over the past two or three years. I'm not sure if there's been a change in management behind the scenes, but there has been a total breakdown in communication over the past few years. Several years ago I had an issue with a miscommunication on their end about an appointment that my daughter had. With her most recent appointment we had a change of insurance. Dogwood called me two days prior to confirm the appointment. At that time, I provided them with our new insurance information and was told that they would check to confirm that her specific plan was accepted and would let me know 24 hours beforehand if it was not. Well, lo and behold today, I get a phone call informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When IWell, low and behold today, I get a phone call, informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When I informed the person that I spoke with on the phone of the fact that I was told that this wouldn't happen because I would get a phone call from them. She had the nerve to tell me that that was just a courtesy. In hindsight, I should have called and confirmed with our insurance, but Dogwood should've held up their end of what was communicated to me. Apparently this is an ongoing issue for them after reading through these reviews. So past issues like mine were not learning situations for dog with. They continue to tell their patients that they will check their insurance so they don't receive hefty bills and then they continue to let their patients get hefty bills. If dogwood doesn't want to accept any responsibility for this, then they shouldn't be telling their patients that they will check their insurance and call them 24 hours prior. I am so disappointed in receiving that bill and that phone call. Dogwood will not see a single scent from us for this bill. I would've stayed with Dogwood for the rest of my daughter's childhood if it was not for this incident. I absolutely love the dentist and dental hygienist, but they have lost their minds with that front staff.
