Beware of Thornton and Grooms HVAC Company…read more While dog walking I noticed my very elderly neighbor's central air conditioner coils completely clogged. I mentioned this to him and he informed me he had a contract with Thornton and Grooms HVAC and would have them come out and clean it. When they arrived they were there for a few hours yet did nothing to the AC unit. I went over to see what was happening. They informed me that his furnace needed a new inducer motor, blower motor and combustion assembly. To repair would be $5000, they said since the furnace was 10 years old they suggested replacing both furnace and AC for a discounted price of $13,000. I thought that was ludicrous since the furnace was only 10 years old and T&G installed it originally. They never mentioned about the 20 year warranty on the combustion assembly. I called a family owned HVAC I have dealt with called Otto Trzos. They checked the inducer motor and found it was loose on the mounting bracket causing vibration, the blower motor and combustion assembly were well within specifications so they replaced the air filter, humidifier filter and cleaned the AC coils for $250. I literally found this company from ad sent to my house in those value packs with coupons and this was the second business i called due to service call being so expensive and Hoover offered a coupon. (YES PLEASE) Let me just say - they were more worried about my plumbing then i was. Lol! I was very cautious of not saying it was an EMERGENCY because you know other business like to charge extra but initally when i called it was a leak pin hole leak on my pipes. The female on the phone (I don't remember her name) was trying to offer me a date which she had to move something around but i didn't want her to do anything extra since it wasn't bad (AT THAT TIME). We booked after a few hours, then my plumbing escalated - of course i called back and she was happy to fit me in. Please note their scheduling are just like cabling hours they'll give you a large window but they will be there!!! After getting a quote which John the technician who answered all my questions and we even joked a little due to the situation - I felt like I was made a priority. He came out on Friday and was able to get the work done on Monday - the two guys (Rhyan/Dustin) working on it was awesome. They didn't mine when i asked to take pictures because the worked looked so great and they were reporting everything especially if they needed to leave to run to the hardware store. I was happy with pricing and also they have a membership which will give you a discount along with other benefits which covers future services calls as well. Get it!!!
