I don't know about you, but I tend to take the more current reviews more seriously than older…read morereviews. For that reason, I want to update reviews whenever it is possible. So, today it is possible for me to update this review for Dr. Hubert Mei. I had an appointment today. My right upper arm and shoulder have been bothering me along with my low back. Dr. Hubert's storefront office adjoins Harmony Natural Health (469 W. 31st St.) . His parents operate Harmony. His mom, Dr. Mei Ling is a acupuncturist and naprapath. See his dad about the various herbs and remedies at the front of the Harmony storefront. I mention Harmony, because on the days that Harmony is open, you enter that storefront to access Dr. Hubert's office. When Harmony is closed - - usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays - - you enter thru Dr. Hubert's storefront door. Today, I happened to enter thru the Harmony side and I signed in at the little stand that is to the left as you enter. The entrance to Dr. Hubert's is just a bit past the sign-in stand - -again to your left. Well, my last review still stands--this office is still 5 Stars! I was pleasantly greeted by Phyllis, who showed me to one of the rooms. Dr. Hubert came in and after assessing my situation, turned the appropriate spots on my body into a pin cushion with the acupuncture needles. About 20 minutes later, Phyllis removed the needles, attached the pads of the machine that stimulates the muscles and put some heat pads on my shoulders and back. 15 minutes later, I was ready for Dr. Hubert to put his great chiropractic skills to work. And shortly after that, I was on my merry way and feeling much better! Although it is no fun being in pain, I actually enjoy coming here. Dr. Hubert is not only a skilled acupuncturist and chiropractor but also just a really great guy. If you decide to come here, don't waste any time being anxious about meeting with a new doctor. Believe me, you will feel very comfortable with Dr. Hubert Mei. Although they were not here today, his other assistants Amelia and Vicki are also very nice and helpful. As I mentioned in my first review, you can also make an appointment with Phyllis on certain days. She is a massage therapists and has healing skills of her own to offer. Street parking is usually pretty convenient. During White Sox games, you can come in and pick up a permit if you need to park in a spot that requires one. Once again - - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is a long overdue review. I had a very unpleasant experience here, & as much as I'd rather not…read moreremember it, others should be warned. A client of mine has a good experience with their masseuse here to relieve a neck kink, so I went in to try for my shoulder. Dr. Tavenner insisted on seeing me first even though I had chosen to just pay out of pocket for the massage. After filling out many forms, he had me lie down face up on the chiropractic table, when he flipped me over onto my stomach to poke around, he pulled down my pants at the end of the exam to take a peak. What the??? So unnecessary & inappropriate. I've been to about 10 different chiropractors over the years, & nobody has done anything like this. Despite feeling violated, I proceeded to go and get the massage. The masseuse was so socially awkward. Talked way too much & was sweating the whole time. I usually like to chat, but something just felt like he didn't know what he was doing. I see he's left the office since, but I would stay very far away from this chiropractor. The front office lady was very nice & helpful, but in the end I paid about $260 out of pocket for this dreadful experience!

This review is specifically about Mikaela, one of their dietitians. I met with her twice, and it…read morewas a complete waste of my time. The TL;DR is that the information she provided was horribly misguided and showed her lack of knowledge in weight loss issues with someone who is in their 50s struggling to lose weight. She was also incredibly rude and condescending. During our first meeting, she spent a ridiculous amount of time reviewing a confusing chart that she had difficulty explaining when she could have bottom-lined it in a few minutes. That left only a short amount of time to discuss calorie/macro goals, so we had to schedule a second apt. since we only had time to discuss breakfast. She REALLY needs coaching on time management, to not be able to discuss essential items like a food plan in an initial meeting is unacceptable. During the second apt, she sent me the zoom link after our starting time -- which is extremely frustrating since there were technical issues. I usually sign in a few minutes early when I have a link to work through any issues. I wanted to get straight to the calorie/macro information. She wasn't at all prepared for the meeting and asked if I was the wrong height and weight and then said, "oh, that's someone else" After giving her the correct weight and answering other questions, she took several minutes to calculate a calorie goal -- I could have done this by Googling a similar chart. My goal with working with a dietitian is to have someone with enough knowledge to put context and details around this information. She gave me ridiculous numbers for maintenance and weight loss calories. I had an overall idea of how much I should be eating due to going to a weight loss spa and losing 35 lbs based on the plan they gave me. When I told her this, instead of asking insightful questions, she was completely condescending, TELLING me that the calorie range I stated could lead to muscle loss and that there are more important things than just the numbers on the scale. Well, for me, right now the number on the scale IS the most important thing, I'd like to get 20-30 libs off and then I can start thinking about incorporating a muscle building plan -- She was soooo disrespectful of my goals. She's a bit cocky for someone with only a year out of school under her I'm so disappointed since I've had a great experience with Dr. Dever a chiropractor and with Dr. Toth - an integrative dr. Do lab work elsewhere- my blood sample was mishandled therefore the results of my test were false....and sent me to the ER. I started going to aligned in August 2023. They test and prescribe you supplements based on the results. I saw results due to the dietary changes (low fodmap) but my symptoms came right back once I resumed a normal healthy diet, which tells me the supplements I was sold didn't help. The diagnosis and explanations felt a bit rushed and the nutritionist was a waste of time. I didn't get any improvement or new knowledge from my 6 months as a patient here. I had my bloodwork done through aligned in January to check my progress. They called me in the middle of the night and told me to go to the ER based on the results. Turns out the sample was tainted and I incurred $2k in medical bills as a result, which Aligned refused to take responsibility for.
